Chapter 78 Refused to kiss

When Elly heard this, her heart suddenly trembled.

"Don't say that." Elly does not want to have anything to do with Alex and does not want outsiders to misunderstood the relationship between them.

"I'm just an ordinary secretary. Alex is just afraid that when I go out to socialize, I might be humiliated because of my clothes. Don't get his actions wrong."

The housekeeper disagreed, but smiled without saying anything, the housekeeper dutifuly stuffed the clothes into her cupboard.

When she saw the number of clothes and shoes Alex bought for her, Elly felt a lot of pressure. She realized that their current relationship was not suitable for her and she didn't want to owe him a favor. She believed that many people will think that she just approached him out of malice.

Elly walked out of the room with a sigh. She didn't want to see the things in the cupboard. She was startled when she saw Alex was standing outside the door.

"What are you doing here?" She asked anxiously with panic that could not be hidden in her eyes. Did Alex overheard their conversation?

Alex didn't answer and he gave her a big box.

Elly took the box suspiciously and opened it. She was surprised by the addition of a gorgeous evening dress.

"Try this." Alex said.

"But why?" Elly asked him. "You already bought a lot of clothes, didn't you?"

"Go to charity auction with me this week." Alex asked her.

Elly looked at the dress and asked him. "Can I not go? On an important occasion like this, shouldn't rich people like you be with someone your class?"

When he heard the refusal, Alex looked sad and asked her sternly. "Do you think a rich girl like Ms. Christine, is suitable to be with me in these kind of event?"

Elly's smile froze, and she could not imagine Secretary Christine putting this dress on her body. She looked at the face of Alex, his face was confused, she quickly changed her mind. "I'll try it on."

Alex was satisfied when he saw her return to her room with the dress and his face softened a little.

"Please go out and let Elly wear the dress." he asked the housekeeper.

The fit of this dress on her body is unexpected. It seems that it was sewn for her but it is not in line with Elly's plan.

Alex waited in the corridor anxiously. He walked up and down the corridor several times, waited patiently and then reached out to knock on her door. The door opened, the elegance of the cloth and the glittering gems sewn into the dress made her eyes sparkle.

When Alex saw the dress on Elly, he was attracted by her color and delicate beauty. He chose the dress without hesitation and appointed a repairman to repair the dress in accordance to the size of Emily's wedding dress. Oddly enough, even after three years, her figure has not changed at all.

He tried to force his eyes away from her beautiful waistline. Alex touched his nose and pretended to be calm. "Not bad."

"I can't wear this dress." Elly bowed her head and talked nonsense.

"Why would you think that?" Alex deliberately looked up and down her body.

"Well, there's a little lack of cloth in the back." Elly turned around as she spoke, but her high heels stepped on the hem of the skirt, her whole body lost her balance and fell forward. Elly closed her eyes and shouted in horror.

It's a good thing she fell into a warm embrace and smelled the familiar smell of cigarettes on her nose.

She opened her eyes and a handsome face was only an inch away from her, her face blushed, her heart beat faster and her limbs felt numb. In an instant, Elly was irrational.

Her shy expression and confused eyes made Alex heart beat faster involuntarily.

He slowly bent down, the breath between the two wrapped around each other. At the moment when he was about to drop a kiss, Elly suddenly regained her wits, as if she had been electrocuted, she unwittingly pushed Alex away. But she fell to the ground because her balance was still unstable. Her face frowned with pain.

"You'd rather get hurt than tell me the truth about your feelings?" The cold question was heard from Alex. Elly raised her head. Alex turned around and did not intend to help her get up.

Elly looked at Alex' angry face and stood up quietly.

"I'm sorry to make you angry, but I'm not ready for a new relationship." Elly whispered.

Over the next two days, Alex and Elly have been avoiding each other.

Even Kiitrn, his son, a little over three years, can see that there is a problem between them.

"Aunt Elly, did you and your father quarrel?"

"No, we did not quarrel." Elly smiled from ear to ear.

"Why doesn't dad wait for aunt to go to work? I remember before, Every time you don't want to ride daddy's car, he will drag you into the car, right? I did something to make you angry, didn't I?"

Her smile was stiff, and she was embarrassed that Kitten blamed himself. She shook her head to appease her anxious expression. It's embarrassing to let a child over three years worry about them.

"Your father went to work first, because he has been very busy recently, not because we fought each other."

Elly sheepishly urged Kitten to go to school because she found out that the topic was becoming more and more dangerous.

However, it was not only Kitten who saw the problem between the two, but also their colleagues in the company. They quickly realized the tension betweem them.

Secretary Christine imposed the document on Elly's desk and said sternly.

"How did you become a deputy secretary? I have to get you a file. Do you think of me as your assistant?"

"Here is the material you brought for Hagreaves Factory to sign." When he was done signing the papers, he did not ask her to pick it up but sent Secretary Christine to do it.

"I'm sorry to bother you." Elly said with a sad face. "Next time you call me, I'll pick it up at your house."

"You know I didn't mean that." The way Ms. Chen looked at her is very troubling. "When can you take care of this? I don't want to be the middleman among you."Elly said warmly.

Secretary Christine said angrily, "What a brag. You should be more active now."

As soon as she left, bad words were spoken out loudly and heard all over the room.

She fell badly.

The man was the monitor and had a boring time, so he threw it away. The rich lady was also bored, not to mention the secretary.

He even asked someone else to make his coffee. One should not be too complacent.

The satirical remarks full of disdain made Elly bitter. She can object and deny it, but this is a company, she can't argue as easily.

Their colleagues usually joked happily, specially when Mr. Hagreaves treats her coldly.

Elly bowed her head and continued to work, her ears refused to listen to their words.

Even the weather took its turn to bully her. It was very sunny earlier during the day then it rained heavily later,and she didn't bring an umbrella.

When her workmate's boyfriend came to pick her friend up, she asked Elly. "Would you like a lift to the station?" She smiled but she didn't answer anyway.

When she looked at the victorious face and the gloating eyes of her female colleague, she shook her head.

The people around her are gradually leaving. Elly can only stand at the door of the company and wait for the rain to somewhat stop. She looked up at the sky gloomily.

While praying to God, a black Centodieci jet slammed on the brakes in front of her and splashed water on her shoes. Afterwhich, a tall man with an umbrella appeared under the heavy rain. Elly froze and murmured. "Isn't this a coincidence?"

"Get in!" Just two words, but her heart felt extremely warm. Her eyes are straining with emotion, but her mouth is hesitant. "Go back to your car now. I'm afraid we will be misunderstood."

Umbrella in one hand, Alex suddenly carried Elly on his shoulder forcefully and she was thrown inside the car.
