Chapter 74: Chapter 74

Chapter 76 Return his Home

As she walked out of the restaurant, Elly felt that the invitation in her hands seemed to be getting heavier.

"If you broke a promise once, you will lose trust all your life." She complained to herself. She had promised that she would not really give him up but she did not know how long she could fulfill that promise.

This pain was totally self-inflicted. Elly shed tears, she drove the car back to the hotel.

Something was on her mind, bothering her that is why she did not remember that John was standing on the street all this time, looking up at her room, waiting for her. When she came back, John stood under the familiar tree near her hotel room and he looked anxious.

Elly turned to run but she was stopped by John. "Elly, did you went out to see my mother?"

John didn't want her to continue to do things without his knowledge so he deliberately sent someone to watch her and find out her whereabouts. After he learned that Ms. Elliot had an appointment with Elly, he calculated carefully and decided to wait for her to come back for them to talk.

Elly adjusted her mood, smiled gently and held the card in her hand high. "I was invited to your engagement party. I must come to congratulate you."

Congratulations? John's body staggered, he hurriedly held the hand that raised the card, he asked. "Do you want to congratulate me and ask me to be with someone else?"

"What's the use of happiness without celebration? Get your hands off me!"

"Now you're disgusted when I touch you?" John seemed offended by her words, he pulled her into his arms and hugged her. His voice was trembling due to the suppressed anger and jealousy. "Now, only Alex is allowed to touch you, right?"

"You're hurting me. Let me go!" She screamed. "You are going to be engaged to Sarah. Don't do anything misleading. I don't want to hear insults because of what I didn't do." Elly said.

"Elly, I didn't even knew that we will be engaged. It was my mother's idea."

"You don't need to explain your side to me!" Elly stepped on Elliot's foot. He was startled. His hand lost his grasp on Elly's arms and she broke free. "Keep your distance!" she cried sadly.

"Well, that's something I can't do." He said and he hugged Elly from behind.

"Elly, I know that I am the only one you love." John watched the tears fell from her eyes and he wanted to comfort her but she suddenly pushed him away.

John hesitated for a moment, then slowly he withdrew his hand. He tried to convey his thoughts. "Well, I still won't accept this and I won't continue with this engagement ceremony either."

What he doesn't know was that all the explanations were now meaningless to Elly. She looked at him in disappointment and smiled coldly for the first time. "I'll come to your engagement ceremony. You can't stand here all night. It's over. Let's not interfere with each other's lives anymore."

John saw her turn towards the stairs and hurried over. Her scream stopped his feet."Don't make me hate you." Elly turned her back to him.

His shoulders drooped as if he had lost his strength. He was very tired today. He wanted to have a rest.

Back at the rental house, Elly looked outside the window and saw that John was still standing quietly under the tree. Her heart was filled with indescribable sadness.

After a moment of hesitation, Elly picked up her phone and dialled the number of Alex.

"Could you send someone to help me with my luggage?"

Alex came a few minutes after John left.

Elly suddenly opened the door, and saw Alex, dressed in casual clothes. He seemed to come directly from home."Why are you here? All you have to do is send someone to help me with my luggage, you don't have to do it yourself." Elly stepped back and made way for him to get in.

As soon as Alex came in, he saw that Elly's eyes were questioning and observing him, he asked angrily,"What are you looking at?"

"It looked like you were having sex when I interrupted you. I'm a little scared." Elly said jokingly. She was very happy to see the good side of Alex.

He looked around the room and was surprised to see the two boxes packed by Elly.

"Is this the only luggage you have?"

Elly nodded. Alex said in surprise. "If we'll put Emily's shoe cover on this package, it will not fit. Will I be exhausted?"

Elly was annoyed because she doesn't want to be compared to other people. "How do rich people like you, understand that people who can hire workers, rent a house and live a full life are already better than many people. I live alone, so it's normal for me to have a simple luggage. "

Elly's frugality reminded Alex of the past. After marriage, Emily did not ask him to buy her anything, let alone to buy luxury goods. Even the clothes she usually wore are at the right price.

"If I became superior and get a raise automatically, I will have more luggage." Elly continued to murmur her dissatisfaction.

Alex glanced at her and tried to compress the corners of her mouth, he will consider this problem seriously.

The two of them went downstairs with the suitcase, and Elly asked timidly. "Don't you want to ask me why I suddenly want to move to another location?"

"Even if you won't tell me, I can still sense it." Alex started the car complacently and drove towards his house.

Some people were already waiting at the door when Alex arrived with her. They already cleaned a room for Miss Elly as instructed by their master.

Elly was startled when she saw the room and hurriedly said, "No, I can't live here."

This room was occupied by the ex wife of Alex, he must still have feelings for the person that's why he kept all the furniture and left it vacant for many years. "I am only an outsider, so I am not qualified occupy that space."

Alex couldn't read her mind. He guessed that she didn't like the furnishings inside this room. The housekeeper, cleaned up the empty room in the south and helped Miss Elly unpack her things.

Elly smiled at Alex and said, "Thanks."

She was just waiting for John's engagement, the official end of their love story. After John's engagement she would no longer have to hide in this place.

The accommodation was specified in the contract. "You're welcome. I'm just following our agreement." Alex denied her courtesy.

In order to make Elly feel at ease on his house, Alex signed a labor contract with her. During this time, Elly will continue to be the secretary of Alex and fter work, she had to go back to the house to take care of his son, Kitten.

Although she was busy with work, Elly likes this kind of life. The time spent with Kitten calmed her mind. She did not have to be sentimental and did not have to see or deal with unexpected situations. In particular, her relationship with Alex and Kitten was getting closer and closer. She liked the child and felt that there was an invisible connection between the two of them.

At Hargreaves', Elly looked at her watch anxiously. She bit her lip and staggered at the door of the manager's room, after a few minutes and a deep breath, she made up her mind and pushed the door open.

"May I ask If I could leave an hour earlier?" Elly asked.

"What?" Alex stopped writing, he looked up and watched her carefully.

"I have an important appointment with an important person. I'll make up for my shift tomorrow."

"Who?" When Alex heard that she wanted to go out on a date, his eyes became evil.

Due to the shortage of time, Elly was not aware that his mood changed abruptly, to put it simply. "The nursery teacher asked me to take Kitten to the new playground near the school, but the working hours are not over yet."

The spring breeze blew into the room, which softened Alex' aura. He stood up and pushed the papers on the desk into the corner, picked up his coat on the back of the chair and quickly approached her. "Let's leave now!"

As she watched Alex stride towards the door, Elly was surprised and did not knew his purpose.

"Why are you still standing there? Do you want me to drag you?"

"Are you going, too?" Elly became suspicious.

"Can't I take my son to the playground?" Alex asked angrily.

"Aren't you a workaholic? You've always been so busy that you don't have time to play with your son. What if it rains? I can take Kitten to the park alone. " Elly said.

Alex got angry and stared at her. No matter how busy he was, the company is not as important as his son.

He didn't understand this before, but thanks to her, he realized that family was the most important thing in life.

Alex personally drove to pick up Kitten and the two stood at the gate of the kindergarten together. This became a beautiful sight that attracted countless eyes. After all, Alex' appearance was not as bad also.

Under other people's eyes, Elly shyly scratched her nose and secretly glanced at Alex' reaction. She found a slight wrinkle in the corner of Alex' mouth. It seemed that he was smiling.

"Daddy! My dear aunt Elly! The familiar purr interrupted her furtive eyes.

Kitten shouted and waved enthusiastically, with a bright smile on his lips. She ran and hugged her Elly's leg. "I thought Aunt Elly would not come."

"Why would you think that? I promised you that I would come." Elly stroked his hair and smiled gently. Her smile caught Alex' eyes.

Kitten couldn't take his eyes off his father's eyes. His little cheeks brimmed with happiness. "Dad, I am very happy that you came to pick me up today. I wanted to have my father and aunt pick me up at school together, just like a real family.
