Chapter 69: Chapter 69
Chapter 71 One-Eyed Doctor.
Elly felt awkward as she heard him asked to take him home. She said uncomfortably. "That would be a bad idea, Sir. Alex, I'll call Secretary Leon for your ride.
Just as she said, she took out her cell phone to call his driver, but before she finished pressing the number, Alex clasped her hand.
"Elly, I have a fever now. Do you want me to stand here and wait for the car?" His face was flushed, his voice was weak, and his eyes glazed.
She was surprised to find that he was very weak. When she reached out to touch him, Alex. leaned towards her pressed his forehead against her.
It's terribly hot. His red face was passed on to her as she blushed and dared not to push him away.
Elly held him in half a hug and helped him to the side of the road. As she waved her hand to a cab, she spoke "Go to the hospital. What if something really happens to you?
" No!" Alex shouted in her ear and shook his head as if the cheeks of their faces had not rubbed each other. "I will never go to the hospital. There is no need to let anyone know that I am sick."
A cab was parked in front, and Elly couldn't persuade him, so she simply stuffed him into the car. Along the way, Alex's mind began to wander because of his fever, which could also be a side effect of taking two different drugs.
The car stopped at the door of the Hargreaves' house. Elly carefully opens the door and tried to drag his heavy body out of the car, so the servant ran out of the house to help her.
"Boss?" As the servant saw Alex unconscious, they were more shocked and frightened than Elly.
Elly seemed to see a savior and said hurriedly. "Please, take him to the house."
Together, they helped Alex back to his bedroom. Elly clumsily took off his shoes and the buttons of his coat.
'he was much hotter than the last time' As she put his hand on his forehead and murmured anxiously to herself.
The servant came back and put the wet towel on Alex's forehead as they comfort Elly. "I already called the doctor and he was coming right away."
Elly went grumpy and angrily said "Did you call a doctor? Director Hargreaves didn't want others to find out that he was ill and he refused to go to the hospital because of this."
"Ma'am, don't worry." The staff eagerly interrupted Elly's words. "Dr. Joshua Robinson is not only the boss's personal doctor but also a good friend of him. They grew up together. Dr. Robinson isn't an outsider."
Elly regrets her impulsiveness and said hesitantly. "I'm sorry! I was just too worried and didn't understand the situation. My tone wasn't good, I hope you will ignore it."
Elly's apology moved the servant. He took his hand away and said "It was all right" and asked for permission to leave.
Elly and Alex were left alone in the room, she suddenly felt a little uneasy when she heard his shortness of breath and pale face.
She pulled the chair beside the bed and looked at his face quietly, alleviating the daily cruelty. She reached out to change the face towel on his forehead when suddenly her wrist was caught.
"Are you awake?" Elly asked happily but Alex didn't respond.
She sighed and tried to pull her hand when she heard a small moan from his dry lips. "Sorry"
In the blink of an eye, Elly was confused by Alex's gibberish and the door opened and a doctor dressed in white cloth came in.
Joshua came in and was surprised to see Elly. But without saying a word, he saw that her wrist was still tightly grasped by Alex and then went directly to check the condition of the person lying on the bed.
As she saw Joshua was taking off Alex's shirt to listen to the heartbeat, Elly's face went hot. She took her hand back and hurriedly left the room.
After waiting outside for about fifteen minutes, Dr. Joshua Robinson opened the door and went out.
Elly hurriedly came to ask. "How's the director? Should we take him to the hospital?"
"Ma'am, are you questioning my expertise?" Joshua smiled.
These words let Elly felt distressed. In case he misunderstood, she should explain as soon as possible. "Dr. Robinson, don't get me wrong. What I am worried about the health of Boss Alex."
Joshua's eyes fell on her and asked questioningly. "Are you his guardian?"
"Yes, I'm his secretary." She confidently answered.
"Can I have your autograph?" Joshua sarcastically replied. "Considering your attitude towards him, Are you sure you're just his secretary?"
Elly's smile faded and her body was frozen. A reminder rang in her ear.
"As a secretary, you should have a sense of distance from your superiors. You can't squeeze a seat as long as there is a gap. Everyone should know their own position."
Joshua's meaning was so obvious that made Elly's expression changed.
She couldn't help smiling. "Dr. Robinson, you misunderstood. Boss Alex asked me to take him home. I followed the orders of my superiors. I knew my place. I didn't forget that I was just a secretary. Don't worry, Dr. Robinson."
"I don't misunderstand. I just want to remind those people who aren't aware of their place who fall when they climb mountains that high, and people should know their physical strength. " He firmly said.
"Thank you, Dr. Robinson, for your kindness. I understand the basic knowledge of being a human."
Her answer satisfied Joshua and said faintly. "Smart people are the ones who knew themselves."
As she saw Dr. Joshua leave, Elly breathed a sigh of relief. She wanted to go in to check on Alex's condition, but she didn't dare to even open the door. Joshua's words are still ringing in her head. She was only Alex's secretary and should also pay attention to the distance. Her fingers slowly shrunk into fists and Elly retreated and stood quietly on the corridor. She stood there and was listening to what was going inside the room.
The fever went down after dark, and he painstakingly opened his eyes. The first person he saw wasn't Elly, but it was Joshua, and his eyes were full of disappointment.
"Why are you here?" Alex utters in his weak voice.
Alex's small movements were seen by Joshua and said. "What do you mean by that creepy face? Are you disappointed to you see me? No, I got there in time. You have a fever."
Alex asked anxiously staring at him. "Where is the girl who took me home?"
"You're a little secretary? Joshua asked deliberately.
'The small order for you is to not make a phone call.' Mu Ying was very angrily thought to himself.
Joshua deliberately lied when he saw Alex's reaction. "She took you home and leaves right away."
"Leave?" Alex sat up impatiently, and his sudden movements made his head a little dizzy, and had to lean against the wall of the bed.
Unexpectedly, Alex reacted so strongly that Joshua regretted joking. She sighed helplessly and said frankly. "Don't worry, she didn't leave. She was standing outside the room. Do you want me to call her?"
Alex wanted to see Elly but glanced out of the window at the dark sky. He thought that she must be very tired.
"Tell my staff to take Elly to the guest room to rest, tell her I'm fine, don't let her worry."
"My, my young master, do you really think I'm your housekeeper?" Joshua murmured but helped his friend. He conveyed the full order of Alex to his staff.
The house staff took Elly to the guest room and saw what was inside. She liked it at first glance and suddenly felt very familiar.
"Do the director pick things in the room themselves?" Elly has bright eyes, but what was surprising to her was that Alex had a cold character, but, unexpectedly he also likes this simple and elegant style.
The staff shook his head and said "No, ma'am. The furniture in this room was chosen by Miss Madeline Russel. This room was originally owned by her. After Miss Maddie moved out to the Hargreaves' house, this room became a guest room.
"Miss Russel? Miss Maddie?" Elly asked again suspiciously, She looked at the picture that the staff had shown her.
The staff watched Elly.
"Even Miss Emily could not sleep in Miss Maddie's room because the boss forbade anyone to enter this room. Miss Maddie is the boss's ex-wife and the biological mother of Miss Kitten. Miss Maddie's name is Madeline Russel. Emily and she were sisters."
