Chapter 49: Chapter 49

Chapter 51 Commemorative Gathering of the Crucifixion

Alexis felt that he is crazy.

He couldn't find Elly. He kept on calling her but the phone was turned off all the time. Even if he looked for her in the company's log and catalog, he only got a single answer. Elly didn't come to the company for several days.

She seemed to have evaporated and didn't leave any trace.

The disappearance of Elly made Elliot very satisfied. John ran after her everywhere in City A. A move that alarmed the Elliot Family. Elliot's Family disliked Elly, and their hatred towards her is growing day by day. They are more convinced that a kind-hearted girl like Sarah Olsen is worthier as the Elliot Family's daughter-in-law.

At the same time, in the old villa of the Hargreaves Family, Elly sat on the sofa in the living room. Although she has lived there for a few days, she is still a little restrained.

All in all, she doesn't think that she's fit to live there.

"Can you help me find another house? When I get the money, I will return it."

"I have so much to tell you!" Alexis is very cold. "You called me for help and you promised me that you would obey my arrangement. It's only been a few days."

"What do you mean? No, no, no. Do you think I'm a servant?"

Alexis's tone was so tough that there was no place for Elly to negotiate. She fell into a sad silence with a hunched shoulder.

Three days ago, after she broke up with John, she started counting. She knew that if she rented a hotel, she would be penniless. Elly didn't want to see him and wanted to hide for a few days. But thinking of the little money in her hand, she had to brazenly borrow Alexis' money. She'll pay him back as soon as she promised.

What Elly didn't expect is that Alexis would take her to their old villa.

"You are safe here. He'll never find you." Alexis explained briefly.

As she lived there for a few days, Elly knew what "old villa" meant and who resides there. Which made her feel uncomfortable.

"All in all, it would be a big mistake for Miss Emily to know that I live here." Elly cautiously suggested that Alex Hargreaves would change his mind and let her borrow money from him to rent a house.

"Big mistake. I don't care." Alex glanced at the look on her face as she spoke and found that she was really worried. And with that, he felt unhappy. He glanced at the clock and stood up. Alex prepared to head out of school.

"I'm going to pick up Maverick."

Housekeeper Geno stood idly beside and asked him for advice. "Boss, will you be back for dinner?"

"Yes, I will be back together with Maverick."

"Noted, sir." The butler responded.

After Alex Hargreaves left, Elly asked the housekeeper curiously.

"Does Uncle Geno and Boss Alexis often come back here to live?"

Since she moved into the old villa, Alex always came to dinner every day and then leave afterward. Which made her have a lot of whimsical thoughts and feelings.

"No, the master just returned after the Tomb Sweeping Festival."

Tomb Sweeping Festival? Elly wondered why Alex didn't come back to live in this old villa before. But now, he comes home every day.

"Is this because of me?" She abruptly thought.

As soon as the idea came out, Elly hastily denied it.

She can't blow her own trumpet. She is just an ordinary girl and there is no reason to be treated by Alexis especially. Maybe he is just worried that she will bring trouble to the house, so he goes back to check every day.

Elly blamed herself that she needed to find a job to reduce her wishful thinking, so she asked the housekeeper enthusiastically.

"Uncle Geno, can I help you with the kitchen?"

"No, you can just rest. I'm fast." Housekeeper Geno smiled affectionately.

Although Elly is only a small employee in the pastoral area, the housekeeper is very friendly to her. He was always respectful and polite, and she was embarrassed by her inability to help.

Alex took Maverick back to the villa. As soon as he entered the door, Maverick shouted happily.

"Aunt Elly, did you miss me today?"

Elly almost fell when she was suddenly thrown on his body. One arm was on her back, and some voices of reproach sounded above her head.

"Baby, don't be reckless!"

Elly and Maverick smiled, she slightly avoided his hand to help as her cheeks flushed because of shame.

At dinner, Maverick insisted on sitting next to Elly. She is also happy to take care of her lovely child and always has his favorite food in her hand.

"I want to eat shrimp. Aunt Elly, please peel off the skin for me!

A red and white shrimp was ordered and topped into a bowl of rice, which made him laugh.

As Alex saw the relationship between Elly and Maverick, he deliberately felt warm.

"I got all the trust of the crucifixion memorial party, and they liked me very much."

"I love him too!" Elly wiped the corners of the mouth where Maverick was glued together and inadvertently said what was on his mind.

"I don't know why but whenever the memorial party for the crucifixion of Jesus is near, I want to be close and take care of Maverick. "

She tilted her head and frowned. Is this maternal love?

"I'm old. I think too much, don't I? Ha ha." She silently thought.

"If you have children, I think they will love to be part of a memorial to the crucifixion."

Alexis said these words with a purpose, but Elly didn't seem to hear him. She was assigned as the one who collects food that is favored by the memorial of the crucifixion. And all of her attention is focused on taking care of it.

Meanwhile, at the shepherd's house.

Looking at the clock on the wall, Emily Russel's patience was exhausted. Finally, she couldn't stand it and called her lover.

"Alex, do you have to work overtime today?"

He sighed because it's Miss Emily. Alex Hargreaves drove away from the company after work because Elly wants to stay hidden. He went back to his old villa and then was allowed to pick her up.

After he hung up the phone, Emily Russel realized that something was wrong.

An old villa is a place with bad memories. Alexis only came back there whenever it's Tomb Sweeping Festival. Did anything strange happen today?

Because of worry, Emily Russel called Alex to check, but he did not answer the phone. As she grew restless, she dared to make a lot of phone calls until Alex answered the phone in a cold voice.

"What happened?"

"Mr. Alex, are you going home? I'm at home alone. I'm lonely."

"If you are bored, you can call a friend on the street."

"Alex, I miss you so much!" Emily Russel spoke patiently in a delicate voice.

Alex also felt that he had gone too far, so he explained briefly.

"In November, I took the Memorial to the Crucifixion to my old villa. I'm going back to the priest tonight. You have to rest. You don't have to wait for us."

The phone was turned off before Emily Russel could say anything. She threw her phone on the sofa angrily gritted her teeth. Anxiousness also hit her like up and down. Alex only went back to his old villa during Tomb Sweeping Festival every year, and he never took Maverick with him. What on earth happened that she didn't know?

What made Emily Russel, even more angrier is that Alex has never taken her to the old villa, and she didn't dare to oppose him casually.

Her eyes flashed dangerously as Emily Russel took her cell phone and dialed a number. She gave orders ruthlessly.

"Vincent check all the movement around the old villa. Tell me who lives there and Mr. Alex Hargreaves' travel time."

Emily Russel turned her cell phone off and pinched her bridge nose and her dark eyes were full of thrills. What's the secret in the old villa?

In the old mansion, Maverick haunted Elly after having enough to eat. "I want to sleep with my aunt in Elly."

Elly and Maverick persuaded Alex with the same puppy eyes.

"You can't just do anything. Don't disturb others."

"Just one night, Dad."

"You're not going to work anyway. It's not a trouble for you to let her sleep with me." The child added.

One big and one small hurray filled the air as Elly and Maverick said in unison, and Alex opened his eyes because of the harmony between the two. He disguised his laughter with a slight cough.

"I'm just worried that the baby will disturb you."

"I love the Memorial Party for the Crucifixion, and I'm glad to have a bonding time with him," Elly answered sincerely.

Alex had no reason to object and just nodded in response which gained cheers from the two. He watched the two people walked towards the bedroom hand in hand, and that made him felt very much like a family at the moment.

The smile over time sparkled on Alex's face.

As they laid on the bed, Maverick rolled around and asked her in a tender voice.

"Elly, do you like the uncle who quarreled with you the last time?"

Elly thought for a long time before she remembered thoughts of John. She was in a bad mood at the thought of John Elliot. The question of the Memorial Meeting of the Crucifixion is also the question she has been asking herself these days.

You adjusted her posture more seriously.

"Your Uncle John and I didn't fight. You still don't understand what adults do."

Will the big baby understand? She wondered.

"You're smart. Yes, when you grow up, you will understand."

"Look at the mouse lips. Aunt Elly and I are too similar. Always quarreling with people that we like. If they are so noisy, we don't have to like them, just like someone else."

Elly was startled by Maverick's words. She didn't know how to answer. So, she continued.

"Ms. Elly, would you please stop liking that fierce uncle? Can you turn around and like my dad instead?

Elly can't become speechless so she massaged his face.

"You know what I like? I really like it. I want to be with you every day. Aunt Elly likes you and your father. In that way, we can live together and I will see you every day."

Maverick's big pure eyes made it impossible for her to say no or even explain the words to a three-year-old child. She just gently stroked his head.

"Your aunt likes to read, too."

When he got a satisfactory answer, Maverick held her and gradually fell asleep. The three-year-old child thought to himself 'I'm going to have parents.'
