Chapter 247: Chapter 247
Chapter 249: Emily's Panic
Seeing the confident looks of her female colleague, Elly nodded with satisfaction. Nothing infuriated or stopped her for a while. Nothing was suspicious.
Elly waved, and one of her employees understood what it meant: leave the room.
She prepared the materials for an important meeting in the morning and then went to the conference room.
The phone suddenly rang, and Elly looked at the strange phone number and could not help but wonder. She feared something was wrong and she couldn't reject the call.
"Yes, hello, this is Elly." There was no answer. She thought it was a prank call and frowned.
"Miss Elly, it's me." The hasty voice sounded, which was the pleading voice of Dimitri. "I'm begging you; I'm really coming to an end."
"How do you know my phone number?" Elly had other problems to deal with.
"Don't underestimate me. It's normal to get your phone number. I can do a lot of unexpected things."
His threat backfired, and Elly answered with contempt. "Since you are so good, you can handle it yourself. It's so annoying of you to call and beg me. Did you already forget what you did to me at the parking basement?
"No, it's not what it looks like. That's not what I meant. Miss Elly, please put in a good word for me with Mr. Hargreaves." Dimitri vaguely expressed his wish, and he was afraid that Elly would hang up the phone. "Ask Mr. Hargreaves not to shoot me down. Please give me a way of life."
He told the story of his miserable life.
Dimitri himself does not know how he lived to this day. He didn't get the high salary from the film contract and the income from the magazine set, so he had to rely on the "salary" of a model for a small shop. Gerald ended the contract, because of the violation of professional ethics. The monthly salary was not enough to live. It was still very hard, and Dimitri couldn't stand it.
Unfortunately, Dimitri was making the wrong move. Elly didn't care how he lived and didn't want to have anything to do with fake people.
"Dimitri, you don't have to beg or pester me. I repeat, I won't help you. Even if Alex did step in, no entertainment company would be willing to work with you since your contract was terminated for reasons of dignity.
"But, I..."
Elly turned off the phone mercilessly and didn't want to continue talking. The phone echoes of Dimitri's voice faded calmly out of the conference room.
She didn't know that Emily came back from the restroom, so she hid nearby and listened carefully.
She walked out of the corner with her coat and looked quietly at the door of the conference room.
Elly walked into the conference room and everyone turned their attention to work. She motioned to her assistant that the picture on the projector opened and a picture appeared on the big screen.
"Our next coin is the design of a private art training school. The requirement of the owners of the training school is a light and refreshing color. I hope you will pay attention to this important detail."
Every draft of the assistant was distributed to the staff, and everyone below covered their mouths in concentration. Elly tapped her finger on the table.
"Does anyone have any questions or opinions?"
Seeing Elly's unhappy expression, everyone dared not speak.
Just now everyone was talking about the endgame, but now it was silence. This made Elly very unhappy. She emphasized the point.
"We can speak freely, but I don't want to ask you to talk about clandestine work, especially in front of me."
Seeing Elly's misunderstanding, a colleague hastened to explain. "Miss Elly, we are guessing riddles. I wonder if the owner of the training school is the "Beautiful Talent" who often appears in the news recently."
Elly nodded to confirm their conjecture. "You're right. It's her."
"Oh, my God, it's really her!" An employee looked as if he had been struck by lightning and was in a dream like state.
"We're working, so don't drool."
The employee's mood disappeared.
The whole conference room laughed and the atmosphere became harmonious and happy.
Elly didn't stop it. After everyone had laughed enough, she knocked on the reminder table. "Because everyone worships her talent and will be working for this favorite idol, use your best abilities, okay?"
"Yes, ma'am." The conference room was attentive, especially the men whose eyes were sparkling with excitement.
Before leaving work, the assistant came through to Elly's room. "Ms. Elly, Ms. Katriel Jones wants to talk to you.
Elly was profound of what she heard.
"Hi, Miss Elly, can I buy you dinner? I'd like to further discuss the next collaboration project." The voice as soft as the spring breeze drilled into the ears of Elly and felt very good.
Elly and Emily made reservations to take Alex to a fancy restaurant that night, but she had to change her mind for the sake of work.
Talking to her assistant, Elly hurried to make the plans for the meeting and accidentally bumped into Emily, who had just walked out of the elevator.
Are you going to pick up Isabel?"
"No, I'm going to see a client." Elly shook her head, looked at the coffee in her hand and asked in surprise. "Why did you buy so much?"
"Everyone in the room needed some."
Elly was satisfied and pretended to be angry outside. "They're lazy. You don't have to be nice to them. Well, I have to go. See you!"
With words of comfort, she went into the elevator and waved bye to Emily.
Emily sent the coffee to her colleague's table and couldn't help ask Elly's assistant curiously, "Who is the client we're working with? I found that she left in a hurry and it looked very important."
The assistant, Tiffany, made no secret. She pushed her glasses on her nose and explained. "She has been very popular on the Internet recently, and she has agreed to work with us on the design project of a private art training school. Sister Elly is going to have dinner with her."
"A beautiful actor?" Emily was in a daze.
Emily needed to be updated on new information, which will be of great benefit to her future work. "Don't miss out on such big news." Tiffany let out sarcastically, but she kindly turned on her cell phone and showed Emily the confirmation.
Emily felt very familiar. After looking at her photo for a while, she suddenly realized that she knew this person. She asked in a nervous voice, "Her name is Katriel Jones?"
"Yup!"
Her nervous expression made Tiffany realize that it was unusual and asked curiously, "Ms. Emily, do you even know her?"
Emily shook her head with a stiff denial on her face. "No, I don't know."
Looking at the steps of Emily's evasion, the assistant was surprised. "Why would I think Emily knows Katriel Jones? Should I tell Ms. Elly about this?" Tiffany thought.
Emily staggered back to her small office, sat down paralyzed, and stared anxiously at the black computer in front of her.
"Is Katriel back? Is she really back? How should I approach her? What should I do?" Emily was immersed in her own problems.
In the restaurant, Elly remotely recognized Katriel by photo.
"Foreigners are so beautiful." She muttered to herself, walking up and down, smiling politely.
"Sorry, I'm late."
"I came too early." Katriel smiled softly, with a friendly attitude and a nice voice.
Elly asked the waiter to push the menu for Katriel to take a look at. "Let me pay the bill this time and you can repay me in the future."
"I won't be rude to your offer." Katriel picked up the menu and blinked. "Next time we have another meeting, my treat."
Elly naturally smiled at Katriel's statement. The two ladies ordered, paid for the service, and then turned on a switch to focus on their work.
"Ms. Jones, you suddenly asked me to meet with you? If you have additional requirements, as long as you make an appointment with the company, there will be a person in charge to communicate face to face. I'm sure you'd understand this."
Katriel's smile proved that Elly was right. "I didn't want to call you out of work, but it was for personal matters."
"Personal?" Elly was startled and looked embarrassed in the blink of an eye.
"Well, frankly, I'm not in a position to interfere in other people's private affairs. Not to mention the two of us are just working together, not close enough to be friends. If there's anything I can do for you, I'll do my best." Elly spoke frankly, which made Katriel like her comfortable personality very much.
Katriel quickly leaned forward to explain. "It's no big deal. Don't worry. What I'm trying to say is, maybe you can't accept it, or even think I'm weird. But, Elly, I have known you for a long time."
"Are you messing with me?" Elly looked around surprised, but then looked back at Katriel.
She didn't believe what Katriel said because she had no impression of the girl in her memory. As a result of retrieving her memory, Elly still remembers things vividly. There was no one named Katriel Jones who rang a bell in her past.
Katriel smiled at Elly's dazed face. Elly was really confused, and all the thoughts in her heart were revealed. She blinked and mysteriously uncovered part of the truth.
"Although we haven't met before, I often heard Alex mention you. He thought you were dead."
