Chapter 246: Chapter 246
Chapter 248: Stains of Blood and Coffee
Gerald was a gentleman. Like other lovers, he was still jealous. The problem was with Linda. In short, she has been holding up Dimitri for several years, and Gerald was afraid that she'd fall for him.
Linda hesitated, but when she thought of Elly, her lips put away her weakness and her voice was cold.
"If you mess up and do something wrong, you will have to bear the consequences. Dimitri turned down the opportunity the company gave him. I will not manage a disobedient dirtbag. How many times has he come back to ask? My answer is still no."
Gerald smiled with satisfaction. He stroked Linda's hair and put his hand over her shoulder. The couple walked a long way side by side.
The next day, Elly sent Isabel to school, so she went to work later than usual. Emily took the bus early in the morning, and was commuting all alone.
Looking at the clock in her hand, Elly walked faster towards the elevator.
Before she could make it in time, a hand in black gloves covered her mouth and her waistline was pulled back tightly. Elly's instinct in the face of danger was to try to turn and wave for help.
There was a scream in her ear.
"Stop! Shut up!"
She used all her resistance. Ignoring the warning, her body was dragged into the corner where the security cameras had a blind spot.
Elly waved her handbag and tried to hit him on the head, but she was caught. After throwing his wrist away, Elly received a slap in the face. She still managed to throw a slap back.
Before she could further react, she felt something cold and sharp.
"Do you want me to cut you open?"
Elly remained motionless, watching the person reach for his mask and lifting it off.
"Dimitri?" Elly moved and tried to come forward, but she was gently stopped. She realized that he just pressed the blade to her neck. Her voice became careful.
"You kidnapped me? What for, blackmail?"
"Don't be bold." Dimitri answered faintly. "I just want to talk to you in private. Wherever you go, I'd take this measure reluctantly."
She understated and calmly restored her strong voice, "Is this how you beg?"
Dimitri was not intimidated by the appeasement from Elly, but still put down the knife.
He looked at the little small amount of red blood oozing from the minor wound and tried not to let his voice tremble. "I'd like you to say something about me in front of Mr. Hargreaves so that he can pave the way for me. Can you give me a way to live again?"
Elly did not understand what he meant and frowned. She observed that the simple clothes on him were not branded, thinking that his recent situation was not good. Linda told a lot of stories and wisely guessed the reason. "Do you want to get back into the business?"
Dimitri nodded with approval in his eyes. "I like to talk to smart people like you."
Elly smiled nervously. Dimitri's face was full of fantasies, but he spoke very coldly.
"I'm sorry. I refuse. I won't help you."
"Do you want to die?" His face sank into darkness. His eyes were dark, and his voice roared through his threatening teeth.
"You are about to become Mrs. Hargreaves, the wife of the owner of a big, rich company. Are you willing to be killed and lose everything?"
Elly spoke calmly with confidence. "You'd be doing me a favor."
"Don't be smug!" Dimitri kicked at the foot of Elly, ferocious eyes staring at her.
The knife in his hand loosened in a few seconds and quickly pulled out to keep his distance, pointing directly at Elly's heart. The sharp blade sparkled in her eyes.
Her head leaned back and crazy laughter slipped out of her throat. She looked arrogantly at his provocation and raised her chin to challenge. "You can try the feeling of being threatened. I'm not the one who likes to be threatened."
Elly took the initiative to put her head forward and her skin ran into the sharp knife. "Come on, come on!"
Dimitri was surprised by her random behavior, and trembled subconsciously with the knife in his hand.
With a grin, Elly tilted her head and hit him on the shoulder. Dimitri suddenly staggered back, and she stepped hard on his wrist causing the knife to fall to the ground.
She quickly kicked the knife under a car before he dropped down to pick it up. It only happened for a few seconds, then Elly jumped back and stomped on him as he laid there idiotically, keeping a safe distance.
Elly pondered that she didn't seem to know anything about Dimitri. Had the courage to attack a small woman like her, but dared to threaten with a knife? How ridiculous.
Dimitri was full of shame, with both of his hands dissolute and miserable. There was no keeping count of how many scumbags like him walked the earth. Elly proudly passed by him, and as the time to start work slowly approached, she looked down at him with pity.
"A person who only uses his so-called friends to sit at the table with a corrupt character, wants to go back to the entertainment industry? Do you despise people in the industry or what?
After saying that, Elly went straight into the elevator.
She thought Dimitri was messy enough, but when she got out of the elevator, Elly saw a scene that gave her a headache.
Colleagues gathered around a corner of the office, noisily blaming someone.
"Doesn't everyone want to get paid? What's wrong with office hours?" Elly's pleads attracted people's attention.
Hearing Elly's voice, everyone hurried back to their seats and pretended to be busy at work.
Elly had no intention of scolding everyone, when she saw that the center of attention to the dispute was between Emily and her female colleagues from the other day.
Looking at Emily's sad face, Elly frowned. "What happened?"
"Ms. Elly, today I told Emily about yesterday's data sheet, but she deliberately poured coffee on my shirt."
"I didn't mean it." Emily interrupted her female colleague and explained in bewilderment.
"Well, I appreciate your careful guidance, but when I got your coffee, it was because you didn't watch where you were going.
I didn't mean to offend you, but when I picked up the coffee, you walked around and didn't notice me. You did it on purpose."
Emily emphasized every word, an expression of innocence and discontent.
"I brought cups of coffee for the whole room by myself, and you really couldn't watch out for me?
"Do you think it's my fault I soiled my shirt?" The sad female colleague looked at Emily with disgust and was miserable with a coat covered in coffee.
Seeing the scene of the two people arguing endlessly, Elly looked around the room and asked questions.
"Has anyone seen this happen?"
After hesitating for a few seconds, a female colleague stood up, avoided Emily's eyes and said hesitantly, "I saw that Emily walked without watching carefully. She could have dodged her but it seemed that the coffee tray was in the way.
Although it takes time to review the report, Emily should not avenge it. Another colleague answered the phone.
Emily changed her attitude and stared helplessly at Elly. "They're lying. I didn't take revenge. It was unintentional."
Elly did not expect that her question would cause controversy. Watching Emily being picked on, she shook her head and did not want to investigate who was right or wrong.
"Emily, you soiled her clothes, you are responsible for washing her clothes."
"But you..." Emily also wanted to defend herself, but looking at Elly's tired and unhappy eyes, she nodded silently.
"This is the end of the matter. We are all colleagues. Big things or small things, we should live in harmony so that we can work happily." Elly looked around the room and finally stopped on Emily's warm face as if she had told her on purpose.
In the bathroom, Emily rubbed coffee stains for her co-workers. Her resentful eyes and angry chest made her short of breath.
"Elly is obviously not trying to help me. That girl is an outsider. She humiliated me in front of everyone."
Her rude movements splashed water on her face, and Emily gritted her teeth and vented her anger on the poor shirt.
In the office, Elly looked at the female colleague opposite, took out a card and pushed it in front of her.
"This is the VIP card from the small shopping outlet downstairs. Here, buy some new coats."
"Ms. Elly, I can't accept this." The female employee shook her head and hastily refused.
Elly stood up, went to her side, put the card in her hand, smiled and patted the encouraging shoulder. "You did a good job today. You deserve the reward. Don't let Emily find out."
The female employee nodded and watched helplessly as she kept her promise. "Don't worry, I'll use this with gratitude."
Elly smiled happily, thinking of Emily's pain when she left.
