Chapter 244: Chapter 244

Chapter 246: The Larger the Scale, the Greater the Strategy

Isabel stared alarmed at Emily without responding back, and the gift in her hand was tightened.

Emily smiled shyly and coaxed her softly.

"You're a good girl, I made you something tonight. I hope you like it."

Under a happy smile, Isabel blinked and asked naively, "Did you put poison or anesthetics in the food?"

Even Elly was startled by her question.

Housekeeper Gillian was shocked and hurriedly reached out his hand again and tried to hold her.

"Auntie there is not a witch. Why would she put poison in her food?"

Behind the problem, Emily's fingers tried to grab Isabel's arm, but the child leaned sideways and made her grasp the pink doll. Emily pounced on it, threw the toy on the ground, rolling twice.

Dumbfounded, Isabel ran to pick it up with a broken heart, tears streaming down her face.

Emily explained quickly, "I don't mean it. I'll buy you another toy."

Elly was quiet when the toy was tossed towards her chest. Emily stood up, and Isabel jumped near Elly and shook her hand, flattering and urging. "Mom, I'm mad now. I want to go to bed early. Mom, can we go to my room and let me sleep?"

Looking at Emily's angry gray face, Elly wanted to bend down and blame her child, but was hit by the watery eyes of Isabel. Remembering the broken doll, she sighed helplessly and nodded in agreement.

"All right, you go back to your room. I'll be right there."

Before leaving, Emily was dizzy and looked envious upstairs.

Elly turned to Emily to explain. "I didn't know you were cooking. We had enough to eat outside.

Emily shook her head and smiled and comforted her. "It's just a meal. There will be a lot of opportunities together next time."

Elly smiled and did not answer.

As she went upstairs with her daughter, Emily did not realize that Elly's smile was different.

She waited for her to come down the stairs and the toy in her hand was thrown to the ground, which was not enough, she stepped on it several times before she vented her anger.

Emily looked at the door to the canteen, which was a colorful food table, and her eyes were full of unwillingness and annoyance.

In the bathroom, Elly waited for her to wash clean, and the mother and daughter sat on the bed reading.

Elly read the fairy tale that Isabel wanted, but she had Emily on her mind, which caused her to misread it several times.

As a five-year-old, Elly frowned and realized what was unusual. She stared at her and stopped reading until Isabel looked up to ask something.

"Why do you stop when you keep reading?"

"Baby, you love this fairy tale, right?"

"She turned, smiled with white teeth, threw a doll in her hands, and hugged it tightly.

Elly gently moved her aside and sat opposite, then gently touched her nose with an index finger.

"I find that the bigger your strategy..." she read.

"What's the next word?" Isabel turned around and asked the question with a twinkle in her eye.

The expression on her face was like her father's.

Elly, who was not deceived, shook her head and sighed.

She asked in bewilderment, "What's wrong? I don't understand."

Elly did not believe what Isabel said out of the blue. "Are you scared of Auntie Emily? She hurt my feelings when she threw my stuff." Isabel did not deny it, but said solemnly.

"It's easy for Auntie to throw things like that. She bullied me and pushed me down the stairs so that you wouldn't have a brother to play with. She's a witch, a bad person."

Elly doesn't like Emily, but she was entering adult's business. She didn't want to talk about that to a child, but Isabel knew that Emily was bad.

Elly flipped her statement politely. "Auntie Emily has taken care of you since you were three years old. You shouldn't be mean to people who love and care for you."

Looking at her lips, she pushed Elly's hand away and broke up in discord. "She's not nice to me. She always hits me when you're away. I don't remember, but when I was little, I hated her touching you. I didn't like a person who always lied, an evil witch and someone who hurt you."

The words of the five-year-old child left Elly speechless with surprise.

In her mother's eyes, Isabel's voice was even less, and she pleaded, "Mom, will you stop forcing me to love someone I hate? I don't like Aunt Emily. Don't be mad at me, okay?"

Isabel did not know why her mother still loved Emily even though she pushed her down the stairs. She said something else, fearing that her mother would be angry, so she bowed her head and dared not look again.

At this moment, Elly realized her mistake. She wants to teach Emily a lesson, which is once again adult's business. She had no right to win over Emily's trust and pretend as much as she does.

Even as the child she is, her daughter had her own views and independent ideas.

Elly took the idea of Isabel and honored it. "Okay, I won't force you to like or hate anyone."

The child rubbed her face on Elly's chest and got wet from a few tears. "Mommy, can you sleep with me tonight?"

Under Isabel's plea, Elly's heart softened, and of course she nodded and agreed.

After coaxing her daughter to sleep, Elly went out and went down to the living room, ready to wait for Emily. She was surprised to find Emily sitting in the dining room with few words.

Her eyes were fixed on the food on the table.

"Emily, have you eaten yet? Are you mad at me because I didn't eat dinner?

Emily was startled by Elly's sudden question. "I thought you were sleeping with Isabel now."

"My baby is asleep. I wanted to wait." A bright light flashed in Elly's mind, and she suspected that Emily had the same purpose as her.

Elly sat next to Emily and said guiltily. "I apologize for what happened tonight. If I knew you were cooking in the kitchen yourself, I would certainly appreciate your effort. I know you did your best."

"It doesn't matter." Emily shook her head affectionately.

At this moment, there was a sound of a car engine in the yard. Both of them looked surprised, Elly got up in a hurry.

"I think Alex is back."

Alex just entered the door and saw Elly greeting him with a gentle smile.

"Why are you back so late today?" Elly helped him take off his coat.

"There's a party today. Were you waiting for me?"

"I couldn't sleep well without you." Elly blinked and frolicked, then she walked towards the door of the dining area. "If you drink, you can't eat anything, can you?"

The two people chatted so much that they didn't care about the existence of Emily, who was already at the dining room, feeling awkward towards them.

"If I didn't drink anything but wine, would you still let me eat?" Alex was not shy to ask her a joke.

Elly giggled and gently pinched his waist as a warning.

Watching the two walk through the door affectionately, Emily was reluctant. She stood up stiffly, ready to go back to her room.

As soon as she stood up, Elly and Alex went to the door.

"Emily, sit down. We haven't had dinner yet." While pressing Alex to sit on a chair, Elly reminded Emily, too.

Watching helplessly as Alex did not give acknowledgement to her, unwilling and dissatisfied, hesitation soon disappeared. Emily sat down with her lips covered and deliberately acted in a way that Alex hated.

Hate is also a kind of emotion that Alex hated to see in her heart.

Looking at Elly's mysterious appearance, he frowned slightly and asked curiously. "What are you going to do? Why is there so much food? Have you had dinner yet?"

"Emily surprised us." Elly took turns heating the dishes on the table.

Emily's body was stiff and her face gradually changed. She looked at Elly's behavior in doubt and bewilderment.

After all the dishes were hot, Elly sat next to Alex. She chose a dish that Alex liked, which she also liked, stuffing it in his bowl.

"Just try it."

In Elly's expectant eyes, he smiled at the corners of his mouth and tasted with a spoon. The light in his eyes suddenly sparkled.

"Your cooking is getting better and better. It's very delicious."

Emily's face turned completely pale, and she was annoyed at Alex's misplaced praise.

It is obvious that she cooked the food with her own hands, and now Elly got the credit. In the roaring waves, Emily was unable to open her mouth under such circumstances. She covered her lips and refused to let go of any gentle abuse.

Elly clearly saw Emily's reaction. She laughed happily and went on looking for something else to put in his bowl.

"I didn't do this. They were all made by Emily."

"I didn't know you had it in you, Emily. I guess I still have a lot to learn.
