Chapter 242: Chapter 242

Chapter 244: Use the Back Door

Hearing Elly's affirmation, Emily was satisfied with her relaxed trust without doubt.

"I'm glad you trust me." Emily breathed a sigh of relief, "I was misunderstood and felt miserable."

Watching her breathe a sigh of relief, Elly's body felt coldness throughout. When she came to her senses, Elly realized that she was hopelessly stupid.

Emily affectionately took Elly's hand and sat on the chair and said gloomily, "I just went back to the hospital from the airport and wanted to visit you in the ward to see if you were stable. I just found out that you were discharged from the hospital."

"Airport?"

"Peter has gone abroad." Emily whispered to improve her persuasion.

"You didn't stop him?" Elly tried to read the expression on her face, but only felt tired and sad in a reluctant smile.

"I had no control."

Emily still thought that Elly would be as comforting as before, or at least opened her mouth to try and be nice. Unexpectedly, Elly just asked calmly, "So, what are you going to do next?"

Emily stood in shame.

"It's just that you've lost someone who used to be connected to you, and now you have to move on. Of course, first find a place to live, and then get a job. Didn't Peter buy you a house?" Elly was elusive.

"The house is in my name, but I don't owe him anything. Without our marriage, he can't move back there. He's empty-handed."

Housekeeper Gillian secretly pushed Emily's bag, inside containing the key to the house she had tried to return to Peter. He signaled with his wiggling fingers and looked hesitant at Elly, trying to mouth his words.

Elly became bored of the situation, but after careful consideration, she still wanted Emily to stay with Alex. Although he would be keeping a snake at home, at least she can monitor her movements.

"As I said before, when you get a steady job, I won't rush you moving out."

Emily raised her head and was surprised to reflect the emotion on her face. Elly thought her body language was excellent. She was waiting to butter up Emily into that statement.

"Thank you, Elly. I owe you so much." Emily held Elly's hand and looked at her with grateful eyes, with a particularly sincere expression on her face.

"Sister, you are welcome. You are the only family I have in the world." She smiled and coordinated and offered suggestions. "Emily, do you want to work at my design studio?"

Emily read a lot of news about Elly's own career. Although she had never been there, she knew it was a big deal.

After hearing Elly's proposal, she hesitated. "I am very grateful for your offer. If I work at your design studio, I am afraid it will cause you trouble."

"Do you think my child's design studio is unfit for work?" Elly said deliberately, "Yes, the new design studio still has some developments needed, but it is also the painstaking work of my colleagues and me."

"I'm sorry." said Emily.

"No, no. That's not what I mean, Emily."

Emily looked like she was in a rush to leave the awkwardness.

Seeing Elly's anger, she knew that if she refused, she would restore the rift in her relationship, so she had to smile and nod. Well, I can't refuse. That'd be rude of me to deny your kindness."

"I'm glad you said yes." Elly smiled brightly and had her own plan in mind.

"In a few days, you will be in good health. I'm glad we'll be working together."

Emily went back to her room with relief, her face full of satisfaction.

Housekeeper Francis eavesdropped on the story from beginning to end, went to the vicinity of Elly, pitied her and was dissatisfied with Emily. "Why did you let her stay? If she pushed you down once, she may hurt you again. No matter what happens, the boss will be worried."

Elly wanted to be honest with Alex, but soon became more determined by the plan in mind. She hasn't moved at all.

After a while, Emily thought she had won the trust of Elly, so she could safely live in Alex's house. But she wisely avoided Alex every time he returned home. She doesn't have the courage to face the cruel man yet.

Three days later, Emily followed Elly to the design studio.

All eyes were focused on Emily, as they felt that this woman was somewhat similar to Elly. Some of the sneaky eyes were even wondering about her relationship status.

Emily was annoyed by the gazes. She bowed her head and covered her expression with her hair, deliberately avoiding people's eyes.

Elly accepted everyone's antics, and she smiled and applauded.

"Let me introduce our new colleague, Emily, my sister, who will work with us starting today. We will all help each other."

Everyone looked at each other and clapped their hands together to welcome Emily. Most were surprised that Elly actually wanted to put a relative into the company to work, but of course they don't know that they aren't really related. People have heard a lot about Elly's life experience, but didn't know much about Emily.

Elly waved to her assistant. This is Tiffany. She will guide your work. If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask her.

Emily smiled affectionately. "If I need help, I'll call for you."

"Yes, ma'am." Tiffany's face was very serious, unlike an approachable person, which made Emily feel uncomfortable, but she just smiled sheepishly.

However, Tiffany's next sentence made Emily change her mind. "Miss Elly, why did you take your sister to work in the company? I heard the rumors of Miss Emily and worried that it would be difficult for my colleagues in the company to serve her."

"That was before." Elly undeniably glanced at Emily's face and her voice was low. "Emily has changed a lot. She has a good ability to work. I hope you will not clash heads with each other and judge on the basis of rumors."

Tiffany nodded and did not answer.

Elly patted Emily on the shoulder and encouraged her. "All right, let's get to work. We finally work together."

Emily did not get Elly's satisfactory defense and was dissatisfied with the encounter with Tiffany. It was a bad start to familiarize herself with the new working environment.

After visiting some of the design teaching rooms, Tiffany took Emily to the work area in a cold tone. "This is your desk. Although you are Ms. Elly's sister, work is work. I hope you don't use your personal feelings to interrupt your job. I need you to be serious and enthusiastic when we work. I hope you understand what I'm saying."

Emily smiled shyly and nodded in agreement.

When Tiffany left, she looked at her work area. Although she was a little estranged from other colleagues, it was not a private room, but it was private enough.

She sighed and sighed some more. Where did Elly find such a hard headed assistant? It seemed like Emily's future might be tough. Emily sniffed her nose and his eyes were filled with jealousy.

Back in the day, she pursued Alex and received a discarded, disgraced man. Elly, just a stupid daughter without a brain, got all the love from him. Now, she feels disappointed again with her small private office. "How could I lose to that stupid sister?" Emily thought.

The roaring negativity in her mind spit out Emily's spirit. She was unreasonable in her heart, but she can only choose to swallow her pride to avoid discontent. As long as Elly still believed that she still had a chance to turn things around, then she was willing to push through everything.

Since Emily joined the company, she has been working as hard as a good new employee.

"Miss Emily."

"Yes, what's up?" Emily heard knocking at the door and looked up at a colleague.

A stack of towering materials was placed on the table, and the female colleague smiled from ear to ear. "Okay, please give me a detailed report of the complete documents. Give it to me about an hour before you get off work. You need to use it tomorrow morning. Don't bring your work to a standstill.

"An hour before we get off work?" Emily asked in a surprised way. There were so many documents that she knew she could not finish it in a day. Speaking of which, she was already going to get off work soon.

"What? Any problem?" The female colleague smiled again without an abnormal tone.

The answer was guessed in the blink of an eye, and Emily only shook her head. "There's no problem. I'll hand it in on time."

She gritted her teeth and looked at the back of her female colleague. "Don't expect me to admit my weakness in front of you. I will prove that I am much better than Elly." she thought.

The female colleague returned to the office and laughed happily. Another colleague came curiously. "How's Natalia? Does she agree? Anyway, there was so much work that I finished it by myself before I got off."

The colleague was arrogant and conceited, and of course she agreed to see how humiliated Emily would be.

"Is this okay? What if she tells Sister Elly? Aren't they close?"

"I checked. Emily is a conceited stuck-up lady who dug up bad rumors. She's much better than we thought."

"Then wait for her to be embarrassed."

Two female colleagues underestimated the high reserve of thick skin that Emily had. After she started working, she didn't leave at all, and her whole mind was so focused that she didn't even drink when she was thirsty. Emily is as arrogant as people say, so she is less likely to lose to those she despises.

At lunchtime, Elly walked out of the office, looked around and went to Emily's office area.

"Sis, it's lunchtime. Didn't you hear the alarm clock?"

Emily focused on the computer screen, tapping her fingers on the keyboard and answering carelessly.

"El, you go to lunch first. I'll eat when I'm done."

Elly was surprised at Emily's earnest attitude in her work and said with satisfaction, "I know you work hard, but it's alright to take a break."

Emily did not answer and tapped her fingers faster.

Elly looked at several documents on the desk and was stunned by the workload. Is this the job she gave her?

Seeing Emily's determination, she kindly took her by the hand and advised her, "Well, don't try too hard, let me get people to share some work with you. Now have lunch with me. I'm hungry."

Elly's hand was dumped, and she looked at Emily in surprise and frowned. "You don't want people to despise me for taking advantage of my relationship with you. Go to lunch by yourself. I'll finish the work."
