Chapter 240: Chapter 240

Chapter 242: Gone and Never Coming Back

Looking at their severing relationship, Ms. Minda was hard on him, but she realized that time was running out. Sitting in a chair, her body trembled, and Ms. Minda could not deny her fear.

Her son lost his career and threw it back to the unmanaged family company. Now that she doesn't know when he'll come back from leaving abroad, Ms. Minda sees that she can't fix the situation. She finally hoped that the ray of sunshine to solve the dark situation would be through Emily.

Seeing Ms. Minda's phone number on her cell phone screen, Emily was surprised and hesitantly accepted the call.

"Emily? I want to talk to you."

Ms. Minda's tone of voice was the same as she always remembered, which made Emily laugh as she refused not to think about it.

"Peter and I are divorced. There is nothing more to say between us."

"Peter is going abroad and never coming back." Ms. Minda spoke fast as she couldn't contain her emotions.

The news was so sudden that Emily was stunned. Her prideful attitude went away, and her voice became calmer. "So what? Peter and I are divorced."

"For God's sake, Emily! You're pathetic. Peter used to love you so much he'd be willing to abandon the family company for the pursuit of you. Don't you feel guilty that he went abroad sadly because of the divorce?"

The insulting and scolding were unbearable for Emily. Her chest was tingling, thinking of Peter's decision to leave made her think back.

But she also did not forget that he pushed her down the stairs, the physical pain was still there, and the anger could not be calmed down. Emily's voice could not help.

"Ms. Minda, you decide how to take care of his affairs. We are divorced, and I have no right to interfere. Looks like you dialed the wrong person."

"What if I agree to let you two get together now?" Ms. Minda was aware of her cold-hearted attitude and succumbed to it. "I'll agree with you to marry Peter again and allow you to walk into the house."

Emily smiled from the ridiculous conditions. She squinted her eyes and asked, "Ms. Minda, are you really too attached to your son? Are you blowing your own trumpet too much? Peter and I divorced because I left him, not because you forbade me."

Emily's cold laughter echoed on the phone, "Even if you don't agree, if I really wanted to be with Peter, we would be together. But the truth is, I don't want to be with him anymore."

"So how do you want to help me get Peter back?" Ms. Minda's voice trembled and she was right to be in that state.

Emily was satisfied with her humble attitude and pure intentions. "Ms. Minda, I'm done allowing you to talk about Peter. Don't call and disturb me."

When Ms. Minda shouted, Emily turned off her cell phone. Her eyes turned all over the room. Apart from her mockery of her former mother-in-law, she was still really worried about the news she had just heard.

She doesn't love Peter anymore, but it doesn't mean she wanted him to leave the country because of the divorce.

Emily called Peter, but the phone rang for a long time and no one answered. With impatience and disappointment, Emily wanted to turn off the phone. However, the call was answered.

"Hello? What happened?" Peter's voice with meticulous loneliness made Emily's heart sink.

"Do you want to go abroad? All of a sudden? Right at this time?" Emily waited nervously for the answer. She was surprised to feel that her heart was beating faster and faster in her chest.

There was a long silence on the phone, and Emily thought she couldn't get an answer, until Peter said, "I'm not going back."

Emily's heart dropped so hard that she had to lean against the table to stand firm. The first thought was to catch up to him. In her impatient tone, she asked. "Where are you now?"

"Airport." Peter took the initiative to turn off his cell phone, so that Emily had no time to persuade.

She shut her eyes and didn't expect Peter to be so cold to her then and there. She vented her anger by pushing everything out the cupboard. Panting for a moment, she turned and rushed to the door quickly. She didn't know what she wanted or needed now. She moved her body and hands and feet without a thought in her head.

At the corner of the corridor, Emily bumped into a nurse who was turning around.

Emily had tunnel vision and didn't care who was in her way.

"How can she recover so quickly in a few hours?"

Elly was surprised when the nurse took her to the ward to see Emily.

"Didn't I just see her? Her health seemed very different."

"Why do you say this?" Elly asked the nurse, and doubts began to appear in her mind.

"Doesn't she kneel all day without eating or drinking?"

"She laid in bed all night, because she was tired, she didn't have to get water this morning, and her blood sugar returned to normal, but no one didn't know why she had been lying in the same place like someone who had been sick for many years. Now that she passed by, my shoulder got hurt trying to stop her."

Elly frowned and looked into the nurse's eyes. Emily's figure disappeared in the elevator.

The nurse did nothing but guess. She looks a little flustered. She didn't know what was going on. The nurse pointed to Emily's ward. "Miss was sick there, but she ran away. Would you like to go into the room and check for anything?"

"Tell me, how was she after she fainted? Did the doctor diagnose anything?"

The nurse checked a file. "Blood pressure drops, low blood sugar, and it says here she received an injection for pain. It's no big deal. Actually, she didn't even need to be hospitalized."

The nurse muttered to herself, so it took a moment for Elly to comprehend it.

Because of her weakness, she didn't go to see Emily after she fainted. She didn't expect to hear the news now.

With Elly and the nurse going back to the room, she saw Alex coming back with a pot of porridge he had brought from Emily's house.

The nurse asked, "Why do you have a cold look all of a sudden? Is it freezing in here?"

"No, no, I'm all right. I think I just want to leave the hospital now." With a keen look, Elly looked at the nurse unsatisfactorily and asked anxiously. She suddenly asked to be moved.

"What happened? Were our services in the hospital not very good?"

"No, it's not that." When Elly saw the disgruntled blue expression of the nurse, she quickly denied any wrongdoing and calmed her down. "I just need to get home. I don't like the hospital atmosphere.

"Well, we're on-call anytime you need to hear any updates from us. You don't have to run around between your home, the office and back to the hospital."

Alex, who interrupted and refused Elly's request, nodded and said to the nurse next to him, "If you help me with the discharge formalities, I'll take Elly here home for dinner."

In addition to other services, the nurse was instructed by the section chief to listen to all of Alex's requirements in the shortest possible time and should leave to go through the formalities.

Elly sat quietly on the empty hospital bed, hearing Alex eat the porridge he brought with his mouth open. She refused again and again his offer for some, but to no avail.

"Cut it off with the porridge already." she said. "When you went to the hospital, did you bump into Emily?"

"No, I did not. Why do you mention her? What happened?"

"I came to see her, but when I saw her leave the room in a hurry, I thought something big might have happened."

"What else could happen to her? All her business has nothing to do with you." Alex said suddenly, wiping his mouth with a towel. My job is to maintain my own strength for a quick recovery."

Alex's pretentious attitude let Elly know that he truly didn't care about Emily.

She did not speak and watched Alex pack Emily's things silently. She had a gleam of doubt in her mind.

Upon arriving at the airport, Emily panicked to look for Peter, as if she was a chicken who lost its head. More than a dozen of her phone calls weren't answered, which startled her. The last time they met ended in unhappiness, and she didn't want to linger on the memory of Peter, but there was nothing she could do about that.

At once, she bumped into a man with a suitcase as clothes fell out of it.

"Peter?" Emily exclaimed loudly.

Peter stared at her and wondered. "Me? You came here looking for me?"

"Are you leaving without saying goodbye?" Emily caressed his chest and soothed her breath, as her disgruntled eyes looked directly at Peter. "Are you going to make me feel guilty? Running away like a coward? You did it on purpose, didn't you?"

"The infamous me? I deserve to do nothing. Emily, don't think you can stop me just because I'm in love with you." Peter put up his suitcase and looked at her disappointed, clutching the suitcase and clasping the veins in his hands.

"Your mother called and told me you're leaving."

Peter was startled and laughed. "Were you not angry or disturbed? Well, I'm sorry to affect your mood. I will remind my mother not to contact you again."

Having made up his mind, he turned around and really did want to leave.

Emily went in front of him in a panic. "I'm sorry, I'm complicated, so don't be angry."

Peter looked at her in surprise, filled with hope. "Do you want me to stay?"

"I don't know. I obviously don't love you, but I don't want you to leave here." Emily stopped and saw the light in Peter's eyes slowly fading away. Emily turned around stammering.

"Well, I think it's okay to travel. I'll just move around. After relaxing, I should go back to my hometown.

I mean, after I fell in love, I still felt abandoned. When I forget you, why should I go back and be friends with you?" Peter smiled angrily and said, "Finally, Ms. Emily Russel, now that I'm leaving, you don't see the bad in me. Was I that easy to control?" Peter 's words felt like consecutive slaps to her face. She didn't know how to answer, and felt like she got it all wrong.

Emily kept the key to the house in her bag and gave it to him. "I won't take this. I'll give it back to you."

"Why are you here in the airport again? Say you don't love me and give me back the last gift I can give you. How much do you hate me?"

Emily did not answer.

Peter held the key in his hand and held it up in a cold voice. "Did you return to the house as an excuse to get this? Do you think I'll still accept that the man who killed his child would live in that house?"

Emily's body trembled and bit her lips.

"Don't be confused. Alex never loved me."

"That's his business."

She suddenly looked up, the light in her eyes burning. She couldn't get what she wanted.

Peter shook his head wearily, frustrated and out of breath. "Emily, look straight into my eyes and be honest. Do you love Alex, or do you just want to compete with Elly?"

Without waiting for her answer, Peter dropped the key and said carelessly, "If you don't accept the gift I gave you, then just throw it away."

He turned and followed the sound of departure announcements and airplane engines.

Following Peter through the security door, Emily stood up alone and kept muttering to himself.

"Well, I'm not wrong. It's not my fault. I didn't do anything wrong. You forced me."
