Chapter 239: Chapter 239

Chapter 241: Losing Your Temper

Gerald just closed Emily's door to her ward, and caught Linda coming over.

"Why are you here?"

"Mr. Gerald, why wouldn't I pay a visit? Linda frowned and asked the stupid question with disdain, and her hands reached out toward the doorknob. "Is she in this room? Is she all right?"

Linda, the type of woman to take action, pushed forward to enter the room, pushed Gerald away and rushed in.

Gerald stopped in a panic. "This isn't because of Elly."

"Why are you lying to me?" Linda deceived his words imaginatively. "If it's not her room, why did you go out here? Who is actually in there?"

Tension was building. Before Gerald could deflect Linda's angered curiosity, she already pushed the door open.

In her presence was the silhouette of Emily. Linda became embarrassed.

"Linda, what's going on? Your voice doesn't sound very good."

"I'm just giving my warm welcome, wanting to see how you're doing. You're helping out that snake, Elly?"

Linda unwittingly observed what was in Emily's hands, and her eyes took a look into the empty incubator and a tray of food at her feet.

She walked completely around the room, observed Gerald, and felt ridiculed.

Although Gerald knew the nature and character of Emily, it was enough to shock him because he was unprepared and stared blankly at the empty argument developing. He puckered his lips in confusion and nodded to Linda for any confirmation to what her intentions were.

Emily did not expect Gerald to come back, let alone seeing Linda rush into the room so fast. She had no time to cover up what she was doing.

Emily was running out of breath and panting, and she shouted, pointing to the door, "Who gave you permission to enter my room? Get out of here!"

"Alright, no need to act further. It's getting late anyway." Seeing that Emily was powering up her energy, Linda laughed happily to switch up the mood.

"Who gives you the right to tell me what to do? Get out of my room."

Linda put aside her pride, walked calmly in front of her, and looked down at the tray of food that still looked hot.

She wanted her actions to be sincere as possible. I guessed that food wasn't bought from a fancy restaurant, and has no color or taste.

With sharp eyes on Emily, Linda handed her a slap.

Emily looked pale, as she just got backhanded from the left side of the bed. She wanted to come forward and beat Linda, as if she had raised her fist and threatened her so fiercely that she could not even stand up.

Linda smiled, picked up the uneaten food and laughed slowly.

"Didn't eat the meal, and you still have the decency to thank Elly? People who act two-faced are just as likely to go and stab people in the back. Disloyal dog. You don't deserve Elly to pity me."

After saying this, Linda went straight to the door and looked at Gerald.

"Where are you going?" Gerald looked at the tray of food she was holding and had a hard time understanding what's going on.

"To feed someone, and not a dog."

The words were a slap in the face to Emily, who chased and tried to hit Linda, but was hit in the face by the ward door. After the impact, Emily hurt her nose. She rubbed it in pain and cursed secretly. "Damn it."

Things were beyond her control, and she placed her hands on her head.

When she walked out of the ward, Linda still maintained a gloomy and angry expression. Gerald took the tray from her hands, put it aside and asked questions softly.

"Aren't you satisfied Elly's anger was only vented in this way?"

"What does anger have to do with anything?" Linda gritted her teeth and let the thought of Elly die out. "My anger at her won't change the heartbreaking truth. It's not fair. Should have slapped her a few times, too."

"I'd regret not to say that that's an unpleasant thing. But Elly could have calmly accepted the facts and continued. Don't worry about it, she'll end up hurting herself."

Gerald tried his best to calm Linda down. He knew Elly was still young and still had many opportunities to have children.

Although the chances are slim, Gerald didn't say it out loud.

Linda quietly followed for a long time, close to Elly's room, and something in her mind lit up.

"What are you thinking?" Gerald moved his arms down to his waist and asked himself.

"Gerald, you guys are good friends, right? Why is their nature so monotonous? Elly doesn't have much reaction to Alex's touch."

Linda pinched Gerald's hand hard, walked fast and left quickly.

Gerald chased her with his red and swollen palms. "I was wrong, Linda. Don't be mad."

In a villa far from the city center, Peter came back tired from the Law Bureau and saw his mother Minda standing at his house's doorway looking back at him.

"I knew you were coming home. I've been out for a few days. I thought you were still blaming me." Ms. Minda approached him happily.

Peter looked at his mother calmly and walked towards the stairs without saying a word. How could she let him leave easily and follow him around afterwards?

"You should never have married Emily in the first place. Fortunately, you two are divorced and getting rid of that woman who dared to be insatiably greedy will only benefit your career and life."

Peter now felt that all his actions were in the hands of his mother.

He broke away from her hands and avoided listening to her.

"My friend has a 37-year-old daughter. She is very talented and beautiful. If you are free, our family will ask her to dinner."

"Mom, can you be quiet? I'm so tired now that I don't want to talk." Peter couldn't stand it any longer and shouted to cancel out Ms. Minda's words.

Ignoring his mother's dizzy expression, he opened the door, closed it impolitely, and slammed it. He stood quietly at the door, looking at the room where he and Emily used to live. Every memory swept across his head like a loser.

The feeling of tiredness made him want to leave and go to a place where no one could find him.

He didn't give his brain time to process. He hurriedly put his clothes in a suitcase. When his hand touched a picture of him and Emily, it was one taken from their wedding. He picked it up and laid it prone on the table, with the image facing down.

He refused to carry the emotion from their failed relationship.

Ms. Minda panicked when she saw him coming downstairs with his suitcase, and she hurriedly stood in the way. "What are you doing? Where are you going?"

"Don't ask. I don't want you meddling in my business." Peter stood up straight and faced his mother's frightened face.

"You hate me so much? Even though you two are divorced, you still want to live with her? You blame me for everything?" Ms. Minda's heart trembled with pain, and she understood the meaning behind her son's cold eyes.

Listening to his mom still dragging Emily into the story, he became impatient and his mood was even more irritable. "I want to go abroad."

"At this time?" Mrs. Jiang did not stop hoping for the worst.

"This is my life."

"I can't let you! I don't agree!" Ms. Minda shouted, quickly grabbing the suitcase and trying to keep him from leaving.

Peter avoided her and said to himself. "I want to live my way. I want to take over the company and marry the woman I choose. But this is what I want, not what mother wants or thinks of. Sure, I can take the helm of the family company, but I want to live happily in my own life and make decisions freely. Unfortunately, I never recently thought about those feelings."

He was out of breath and his tone was firm.

"The woman I love left me, as I expected. This time, even if you don't agree with what I do or when I screw up, I'm not coming back." Peter stared at his mother and went straight to the exit gate. Following in his footsteps was a scream.

"Everything I do is for your own good! You abandoned your family for a girl with no dignity! She is just a dying star and a disaster!"

Peter walked through the gate of the villa, leaving no love in his footsteps. The sounds hurt him in the inside, but did his best not to show his discouragement.
