Chapter 18: I am a man too; I also get jealous

"Emily knows John Elliott?" Alex squinted his eyes to see John's silhouette getting into the car and driving away.

Emily also comes out from inside the coffee shop, she stands at the door, stamping her feet in frustration since she cannot follow John, she waves for a taxi and disappears at the corner.

Alex steps out from the shade of an old tree, recalling John Elliott's confusing words three years ago.

"Emily wanted to harm Maddy, whether she lived or died, I want to keep her away from your cruelty."

At that time, Alex just wanted to quickly make Maddy disappear from his life, so he didn't pay too much attention to that. He thought that John Elliott was slanderous and wanted to create a misunderstanding between him and Emily.

Now, seeing these two people drinking coffee together, although he has no idea of the content of the conversation, Alex still needs to reconsider the people around him.

While Alex has become more suspicious, Elly, whose job was assigned to make coffee, having taken advantage of the boss's leaving to escape her daily schedules.

She wanted to show her sincerity in her apology, so she went straight to the hospital to look for John. Hopefully, a few days passed, his anger has lessened.

"Doctor Elliott left with a very beautiful girl."

Elly was teased by the whole department with good intentions. Everyone respected John's dignity, being his fiancée was also proud.

Elly returned home with uneasiness, John was very indifferent to women, but this time, he left with a girl. No...Has he fallen out of love with her?

Elly anxiously opened the door to the house, turning on the light, and was startled by the sight of John sitting on the sofa, while his eyes are glaring at her.

She doesn't even bother changing her indoor slippers, quickly rushing in, then sits on the floor whereas hugging her lover.

"John, I'm back. I haven't seen you for a few days, I miss you so much".

John Elliott sat still, looking down from above, even seeing her tail waving behind her back because of excitement. He put his hand on her face, asked normally,

"You missed me, but you didn't bother having a phone conversation with me?"

"I... I was so busy...I'm sorry." Elly startles. Because Alex tortured her, ordering her to do all kinds of things, she had no time to think about others.

"Busy at work or busy with Alex?"

"What kind of person do you think I am? I'm not like that. "

"You left home, leaving only one letter. Then you disappeared for three days with a man. Who can prove that nothing happened between a man and a woman in three days?" Just imagine the crazy scene of them being together, John cannot hold back his anger, the words gradually become harsher towards Elly. "You work in that company because of the high salary? Or is it because of Alex's flashy appearance? Do you know what kind of person he is? "

"John! This was between you and me, don't drag Alex in." Elly shouts. Her body trembles with John Elliott's insults.

"If this was between you and me, then I will ask you to quit your job at that company. I can take care of you."

"You have no right to order me what to do. I don't need you." Elly lets go of his hand. She no longer wanted to touch him.

"You are my fiancée. Who should I take care of, beside you, Elly? "

"Do you still regard yourself as my fiancée? Then what about the girl who went to the hospital to find you? You have just forbidden me from doing this and that, you just want to keep me in the house as a pet, and want to have an affair, don't you? "

John was frightened, taking a look at Elly's face, seeing that she was only merely jealous but do not doubt his relationship with Emily. Anyways, she has lost her memory, and his deal with Emily was the story of just two of them.

"Elly, it was just a friend, her family members went to the hospital, knowing I work in the hospital, so she found me to ask for help. Do not think wildly. My love for you has been proven for the past three years, there is no third person that intends to come between us." John leans down slightly near Elly, softly says. "Elly, I am a man, I also know to be jealous. I do not feel safe letting you work beside an attractive man like Alex. Can you quit your job for me at his company? "

"Alex is not that attractive. He is a boss who exploits the employee's labor. He is a ruthless and cold-blooded guy." Elly says her true thoughts.

"Then you should stop working for that kind of boss. I will find you a better job at that company. Or we can go abroad to live our life, not the S country, but whatever countries you want to visit. Elly sweetheart, can you follow my lead?"

She cannot flatly refuse at John's pleading voice. Elly nods and tells him to give her two days to think. Anyways, the thinking of being nurtured by John still makes her deny to ask him for help.

"The next two days, my surgery schedules are quite intensive. I will stay at the hospital. I hope two days later, you will give me a convincing answer."

Two days pass quickly. Early in the morning, John texts her on his phone.

"Elly, I want to hear your answer."

Looking at the phone screen, Elly sighs, taking her wallet to the supermarket right inside the building. The answer still rolls back and forth in her mind, she is making use of her work escape from replying to him.

Alex asks her to buy some things to bring with her into the office.

Just having arrived at the supermarket door, Elly is pushed down against the floor by a small object running from the left corridor.

As soon as she has been able to sit up, something tumbles into her lap, this time she falls back again onto the floor with her head hits the ground strongly. Elly wonders whether she should have seen the date first before walking out, such an unlucky day!

"Mom?"

Having earmuffs and dazzling eyes, but she still manages to hear an adorable child voice.

A lovely boy with round eyes is wearing a cap that reveals his few curly hairs.

"Kitten?" Elly exclaims happily, long time hasn't seen him, but she still clearly remembers this baby's face.

"Why are you calling me so generously, Mom?" Kitten calls her, swinging on her neck.

"So, how do you call me?"

"As my mother and son, I allow you to call me Kitty."

Elly laughs loudly. "Are you going alone? Where are your parents? Emil... umm, did that aunt lose you again? "

Elly says and removes his hand from her neck, not thinking that she has just touched him. He suddenly bursts out his tears.

"I'm sorry, am I using too much strength?" Elly asks confusedly, her hands gently holding Kitten's arms, but the boy still cries loudly.

The boy's tears made her want to cry too. After appeasing Kitten, he whimpers and stands to one side, hiding his hands behind his back, being determined not to let her touch him.

"Did you fall on top of my arms earlier? Let me see. "

Kitten shakes his head with tears in his eyes looking extremely pitiful.

"Kitten, hear me out." Elly gently called out the baby's name, which makes him feel as if she has touched the long-lustful feelings of him.

Kitten actively approaches, leaving her to lift his shirt.

On her plump white arm is a range of numerous scars, some have scabbed, some have fainted, some red bumps have begun to form pustules, there is a yellow fluid that has become sticky. There is a lot of soil and sand clinging to the wound, it appears that the boy had fallen before wearing his long-sleeved jacket.

Elly bites her lips as she lumps in her throat. She lifts his arms carefully, being afraid to make it worse.

"Who beats you? Was it your father? "

Kitten purses his lips and looks into Elly's eyes, the fear in his round black eyes confirms that her guess is correct.

"Let me take you home. I will talk to your father... "

The phone ringing interrupts Elly's words. She has no intention of answering the phone but sees the name on the screen, so she presses the button to listen.

"Elly, when are you going to stop avoiding me?" John raises his frustrating and indifferent voice.  "Have you quit your job at that company?"

Elly looks at the pitiful Kitten by her side and can only say sorry to John.

"At the moment, I cannot quit my job at that place..."

John says stubbornly, not allowing her to prolong the time.

"I have booked an overseas flight for the two of us. Four o'clock in the afternoon is the time the flight departs. Do not turn the sincerity of my heart and all the years I spent with you into nothingness. Elly, I deeply love you! Just come with me. "
