Chapter 107: Chapter 107
Chapter 109
"Even though Elly understood him, she still believed in Emily after the knife-breaking incident, even though she had committed a crime."
Because he hadn't thought about it. Fortunately, Secretary Gerald reminding him.
When the elevator door opened, Alex adjusted his mood, stopped the topic, and walked out of the elevator with a cold complexion.
Emily was at the hospital. She had been running back and forth between the hospital and the company for the past days, and without a good rest, which made her nerves very nervous. Now that Emily has been discharged from the hospital and her nerves were loosen, she just realized how tired her body was.
On her way home from the company, Elly wanted to do some shopping in the supermarket. While picking things, suddenly her eyes were drowsy, her ears were dizzy, her consciousness was swallowed by darkness, and she fell to the ground unconscious.
Elly heard the voice of the clerk in Fresh Mart turn around, but she was very tired and salivating. She just wanted to get a good night's sleep. She listened to what her mind said, closed her eyes and sank into a deep sleep.
Abroad, John regularly goes to the hospital for treatment and was on his way home.
Sarah Olsen looked at the diagnosis report and said happily. "Look, you said your hand would get better, isn't it much better now? After a little more treatment, it's no problem for you to hold a scalpel. Great!"
"Yes." John replied indifferently, not very enthusiastic.
Looking at the nervous expression on his face, Sarah Olsen asked curiously. "What happened? Aren't you happy that your hand is recovering quickly?"
"Have you seen the news? Russel went bankrupt." The warmth on his words did not hide what is on his mind.
Sarah Olsen's eyes sparkled with unpleasant, faint smile and unnecessary voice. "Russel, what does this have to do with us?"
He was worried that he almost said the name of Elly, but soon remembered that Sarah Olsen was next to him and even swallowed her name.
In order not to embarrass him, Sarah Olsen rented a hotel room somewhere near, she visited him every day to take good care of him, and went in and out of the hospital while his arm is being treated.
John knew that Sarah Olsen is a good woman, and he really can't bear to hurt her.
Needless to say, Sarah Olsen guessed that he was worried about Elly. She was a smart woman, she didn't ask, and they secretly ended the conversation in silence.
The phone rang, interrupted the immersed atmosphere. John glanced at the phone screen and the word "rickety" made him brake immediately.
The car suddenly stopped, Sarah Olsen was not prepared, her body rushed forward, good thing they were buckled by the seat belt, and did not hit the front glass. Before he could blame her with a wrinkled forehead, John answered the phone hurriedly. "Hello? Is something wrong?"
Upon seeing John's concern and eagerness, sadness seeped into Sarah Olsen's heart. She stayed with him for a whole month, took good care of every meal and constantly innovated her own recipes to please him. In the end, Elly's phone call alone was enough to defeat her.
John did not hear the voice of Elly, instead, it was a strange female's voice.
"Hello, are you John?"
John was startled and something faintly appeared in his heart, and he replied quickly. "Yes, I'm John. Who are you, please? Why do you have Elly's phone?"
"Hello, I'm calling from the hospital. Miss Elly, your friend is in our hospital right now. She fainted on the road and was taken to the emergency room by the residents. I'm calling you because she set your phone number as an emergency contact number."
"What? In the hospital?"
An hour later, Sarah Olsen stood by the door and watched John pack. When John pulled his luggage to the door, she stood in the way. "No, don't go! I won't let you go back to Alberta."
"Sarah, don't stop me. Elly was hospitalized because of exhaustion. She doesn't seem to be with Alex. I have to go back and see what's going on." John tried to persuade, in a hasty voice.
Sarah Olsen clasped the doorknob in her hand, she said in disappointment. "You broke up with her. Her death has nothing to do with you. You can no longer enter Elly's life. She needs to be independent."
"Sarah, stop talking nonsense." When he heard Sarah Olsen mention death, John's voice became very cold. "Let me go out!"
"No, no!" Sarah Olsen firmly refused to open the door, and his angry expression distressed her.
"Elly is engaged to Alex. You don't have a chance to find her. What are you going to do back there? To watch her be taken care of by her fiancé?"
"So what? I volunteered." The voice of John did not waver.
"She doesn't love you. She chose Alex."
"So what? I said I volunteered." John's eyes have never changed.
With grievances and pain, shed two lines of tears, Sarah Olsen's blood questioned with tears.
"You always think of her, and ready to do anything, how about me? My new job is starting to stabilize. Have we going to spent so much time there? Or would you leave me here and go back to her alone?"
John is a soft-hearted and sour person. Looking at Sarah Olsen, he gently wiped her tears and gently persuaded her. "Listen to me, I'll go back to Alberta to see what happened to her. If she's all right, I'll be right back. You wait for me here, okay? I'll be back as soon as I can."
"No, no!" Sarah Olsen did not succumb to promises. "I don't believe your promise! Your heart will waver when you see her. You let me down."
Sarah Olsen's face was full of tears, her voice was drenched with pain, and her sincere plea was overflowing with words.
"John, the doctor said your hand is recovering well. The treatment is about to end. If you leave now, all our previous efforts will be useless. I always think of you, so you have to think about my own recovery too."
This was the biggest reason why Sarah Olsen was reluctant to come back to John. "I don't want you to give up your dream of being a life-saving doctor and don't expect you to look at your arm in the future and regret making it up."
John glanced at his arm, was silent for a few seconds, and ended up with a wry smile and determined eyes. "It doesn't matter. My hands can do a lot of other things besides being a surgeon. Sarah, the plane will take off in an hour. Get out of my way. I don't want to use force against you."
This is the first time that John has taken such a tough attitude towards Sarah Olsen. He knew he was out of line, asshole, but after the phone call, his heart didn't stop worrying. The news that Elly was admitted to the hospital had a great impact on his psychology. Only when he saw that she was safe would he rest assured that he would do something else.
Sarah Olsen blinked and pressed down the last drop of her tears. She stepped aside, and ask him calmly. "If you had to choose between me and Elly, who would you choose?"
John's character made her hope, but his answer made her heart seem to be dead.
"Sarah Olsen, I'm sorry!"
John left the apartment with the luggage, left Sarah Olsen standing alone in the middle of the room. Her body hung down and she realized wearily that she had always been a loser.
Before going abroad, Sarah Olsen speculated that Elly was kind enough to help her, but she told her everything. She understood why John was willing to do anything for her, and as a result, they experienced more things than she had imagined.
She always believed innocently that she could use her love to erase the image of Elly in John's heart. But what they have experienced was very deep, engraved and imprinted in the heart, she cannot just insert herself at all. This fact was too ironic for her efforts.
The first thing John did when he returned to Alberta was not to go back to the hotel to have a rest. He went straight to the hospital with his luggage in his hand. He felt uneasy before he saw Elly.
He opened the door of the ward and gazed day and night at the woman lying on the bed, his eyes were burning.
Elly was very thin, pale, with sunken eyes, the corners of her mouth was dropped and her lips dry. Although she was asleep, her eyebrows were still frowned, indicating that Elly had too many thoughts in her heart.
Her miserable appearance broke John's heart.
"How could you let yourself be like this? Didn't Alex took good care of her? What pain have you been through? I'm sorry I wasn't able to take care of you."
A series of questions poured out, Elly was sleeping, and no one answered him.
John gently held her hand, bowed his head and kissed the injection marks. "Elly, I'm back. I want to take you with me."
