Chapter 64: Chapter 64
After Joel returned, he asked Laila to help him and Primrose prepare dinner, so she could go back home to her family. Eventually, the spacious house was left with just him and Primrose. He comfortably embraced Primrose and brought her to the kitchen for dinner. After they finished eating, he skillfully carried her to the sofa to watch an episode of her favorite TV show.
Several gentle days passed by like this until Primrose's foot fully recovered, allowing her to move around normally. At this point, she had been home for a while and was starting to feel bored. Joel didn't object anymore, and they returned to their normal routine, with him picking up Primrose for work each day.
After their previous argument, Primrose's family was worried about their relationship, so they kept asking about their situation. Worried about her parents' concerns, Primrose and Joel arranged an evening to have dinner at her house, spending more time with her family. And so, tonight, after a long day of work, Joel once again drove Primrose home.
The attitude of Primrose's parents towards Joel was very welcoming, and their warm interactions always put him at ease. Today was no exception. The four of them sat together for dinner, creating a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere.
"Next time, whatever issues you two have, you should calm down and solve them together. Don't react impulsively like that, causing misunderstandings and distancing yourselves," July gently lectured, looking at Primrose as she offered advice. Although the misunderstanding this time was small, it almost led them to the point of divorce, causing a lot of distress. Primrose, realizing she had been stubborn and not listened to Joel's explanations, obediently nodded in agreement. Joel, being calm and patient as always, helped maintain the harmony.
Primrose naturally understood that most of this issue was her own stubbornness in not listening to Joel's explanations. So she obediently nodded and acknowledged her mother's words. Joel sat beside Primrose, and seeing her in this pitiful yet amusing state, he cut a piece of beefsteak into small bites and pushed it towards her.
"It's alright, Mom. Even if anyone saw such an intimate scene, they would misunderstand. It's all my fault. I didn't anticipate Auntie's arrival and the trouble it would cause."
July, seeing Joel standing up for Primrose, didn't say anything more. She sighed softly and continued with their dinner. Primrose's father had been quietly listening from the beginning to the end of their conversation, and only now did he speak slowly.
"So, your relationship is stable now, right? After all, you've been married for quite a while."
Both of them nodded simultaneously, and Primrose's father seemed satisfied with this answer, continuing in the same vein.
"So, when are you two planning on having a child? I'm getting old and want to hold my grandchild."
Primrose was chewing her beefsteak when she heard this question, and she choked for a moment, coughing repeatedly. Joel, sitting beside her, gently patted her back, making her feel more comfortable. He handed her a glass of water and calmly replied to her.
"We're not in a rush, Dad. Primrose is still young and wants to enjoy a free-spirited life."
Joel's soothing tone and gentle touch on Primrose's back calmed her down. He continued, "We're both not in a hurry. Primrose is still young, and she's enjoying her carefree life. We'll think about these matters in due time."
However, this answer didn't satisfy Primrose's parents. Her father's tone became stern as he responded, "Primrose is not that young anymore. You two should start thinking about this. Moreover, you've been married for a while, and you shouldn't overly indulge Primrose."
Primrose felt dissatisfied with this decision, but she didn't dare to voice her opinion. Her father was quite strict, and arguing back would make the initially comfortable atmosphere tense. She gently pushed Joel's hand, indicating that it was okay, and then smiled as she replied, "Yes, Joel and I will carefully consider this."
The topic quickly shifted, and the harmonious atmosphere returned. After they finished eating, Joel noticed that Primrose's mood was down, so he used the excuse of unfinished work to ask for permission to leave earlier. Primrose's parents didn't object, and everything that needed to be said had already been discussed, so the decision was up to Joel and Primrose.
On the way back with Joel, Primrose was lost in thought and seemed distracted. The words her father had spoken earlier echoed in her mind, reminding her that she and Joel had been married for a long time and had become very familiar with each other. However, there seemed to be a lingering distance between them that couldn't be erased, making her feel distant and suffocated.
Despite their intimacy and spending their evenings together, there was still a certain unspoken distance between their hearts. This seemed unreasonable, but it was the truth. She wasn't ready to take their relationship to the next level, and she had no idea about having children yet, which was causing a rift between them.
Primrose wasn't prepared to go further in her relationship with Joel, nor did she have any thoughts about having children yet. So, everything was gradually becoming complicated. Joel was right; she was still young and wanted to live a free and unrestrained life. She did whatever she pleased—going to bars when she was happy and shopping when she wasn't. She wanted to remain carefree.
She wasn't ready, and she didn't feel responsible enough to take care of a child. Moreover, their feelings hadn't solidified enough to discuss children. Primrose thought and pondered, feeling conflicted. On the way back, she didn't say anything to Joel.
Joel understood Primrose's mood, and when they arrived back home and entered the living room, he gently lifted her up and sat her on the sofa, then took a seat across from her.
"Still thinking about your father's words, sweetie? Don't be so sad, it's alright." Joel's voice was gentle, his gaze fixed on Primrose's eyes, waiting for her response.
Primrose lowered her head, not responding. Joel let out a sigh and softly embraced Primrose, enveloping her in his warm and comforting presence.
"No need to worry about this, I can understand. You can do whatever you want, and I will support you no matter what you decided. Our marriage should bring comfort and relaxation, not constraints or difficulties."
Joel's comforting hand moved gently up and down Primrose's back, and she felt a sense of relief. Joel's words were reassuring, reminding her that he respected her choices. She looked up at Joel, and her eyes held both gratitude and emotion. Indeed, she found it hard not to be moved.
Thinking about it, Primrose playfully pouted and teasingly mocked Joel for the first time since they got married. She nestled closer to him, leaning into his chest and avoiding his gentle gaze, which carried both tenderness and an enticing allure that made it hard to look away from.
Primrose shyly looked in another direction but obediently sat still as Joel drew closer, his voice intentionally lowered, almost a whisper, as he leaned in and gently kissed the corner of her eye, showing his deep affection. He treated her like a fragile treasure, handling her with the utmost care.
"Did you become proactive today, sweetie? Do you want to get even more intimate with your husband?" Joel's voice had a teasing quality, and he moved closer to Primrose, their proximity increasing until she could faintly hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
Blushing, Primrose turned her gaze away, but she didn't pull away from Joel's gentle embrace. She nodded in response to his question, her voice soft and delicate.
"Sweetie, you're becoming more obedient every day. You look so pure and innocent, like a little rabbit. It makes me want to tease you."
Joel's words were playful, but his tone was filled with warmth. He tenderly lifted Primrose into his arms and carried her to the bedroom with incredible speed, his hand resting on her back as they moved. Primrose felt embarrassed and hid her face in Joel's chest, not daring to look at the gentle gaze that carried a captivating attraction she couldn't escape from.
After placing Primrose on the bed, Joel used his lightning-fast speed again to dim the lights. His eyes focused intently on Primrose's as he leaned down and kissed the corner of her mouth tenderly, savoring the sweetness of the moment.
