Chapter 65: Chapter 65

The next day, Primrose woke up in Joel's embrace, but this time she wasn't as shy as before. She lazily yawned and blinked, looking around and reaching up to pinch Joel's face.

"What time is it? Why didn't you wake me up?" she asked.

Joel let Primrose pinch his face and replied in a soft and slightly hoarse voice, just having woken up himself.

"It's still early. You can sleep a little longer. Are you hungry? I'll go down and make breakfast for you."

Primrose nodded and let go of Joel, rolling to the edge of the bed and closing her eyes to continue sleeping. Joel was concerned about Primrose's tiredness, so he didn't tease her and quietly got up, careful not to disturb her. He went to the kitchen, put on an apron, and skillfully started preparing breakfast, making the whole process look elegant and smooth.

Looking at the delicious and nutritious breakfast in front of him, Joel couldn't help but think that since he married Primrose, her cooking skills had improved significantly. She had made remarkable progress compared to before.

Joel poured a warm glass of milk for Primrose and then slowly went upstairs to wake her up. He found that she had already woken up, changed clothes, and left the dressing room.

Primrose was now wearing a beautiful square-neck gray dress that accentuated her delicate collarbone. The dress suited her well, with a slightly flared hem that added gracefulness to her every step. The waist cinched in, highlighting Primrose's slim waist.

However, the square-neck dress inadvertently revealed the mark of a kiss on her collarbone left there by Joel from the previous night. Joel wanted to remind her, but Primrose had already noticed it while admiring herself in the mirror. She glared at Joel with restrained anger and scolded in a raised voice.

"It's all your fault. I told you not to kiss my collarbone last night, but you didn't listen. You naughty person."

Joel chuckled innocently, shrugged, and approached the wardrobe. He picked out a white collared shirt and handed it to Primrose, a playful smile on his face.

"You're right; it's all my fault. How about wearing this today? These clothes are beautiful and can hide the kiss mark. No one will know."

Joel gently kissed the top of Primrose's head, and she, still slightly displeased, used her elbow to nudge his waist before heading into the dressing room. She decided to wear the white collared shirt Joel had picked out, paired with a long A-line skirt.

"Primrose, you look stunning in everything you wear. Every glance is enough to capture my attention, making it hard for me to take my eyes off you."

Primrose was familiar with these sweet words, and while she found them endearing, she still rolled her eyes at Joel and avoided his embrace.

"Don't say such meaningless things. Clearly, the dress I wore earlier was better. Don't try to use your sweet words to deceive and placate me."

Joel's amused smile deepened, and he slowly approached, not giving Primrose a chance to react. He pulled her closer, his hand lightly around her waist, and swiftly kissed her lips.

"Let me make it up to you like this. Is this enough, or should we continue?"

Primrose was both angry and at a loss for words. Finally, she responded with a somewhat half-hearted insult.

"You rascals are shameless."

Even while scolding, Primrose couldn't help but reveal an adorable and innocent demeanor. Her soft, sweet voice was like a pleasant silver bell ringing in Joel's ears, making him even more enamored. He decided not to tease Primrose any further, reminded her to come downstairs for breakfast, and then turned to leave.

During breakfast, Primrose remained silent due to her anger towards Joel. She ate her meal with a huff, and Joel accommodated her by not initiating conversation, creating a relatively harmonious atmosphere. As she put on her shoes by the door, Primrose pushed Joel gently from behind and bent down to wear her shoes, a silent gesture of his role in her life.

Moreover, it was his mistake that led to her current mood, so he had to accept her tantrum with a good attitude. Furthermore, being the considerate person he was, he had to balance his time between managing two companies. He needed to increase his work efficiency to ensure he could cook dinner for Primrose.

In the afternoon when he returned home, Joel prepared dinner for Primrose and then gently called her down to have dinner. When Primrose sat down at the table and saw only one portion of food, she looked at Joel with a puzzled expression and quickly heard the familiar low voice from the top of his head.

"Tonight, I have plans to go out to eat, so I can't have dinner with you. You can have dinner by yourself."

Usually, Joel would occasionally have to leave the table to discuss contracts or collaborate with partners and have dinner with them, so Primrose didn't ask much, just nodded in understanding, obediently picking up her fork to have dinner alone. However, Primrose's indifference made Joel feel a bit disheartened. He looked at Primrose for a few seconds before he couldn't help but add more.

"I'm not meeting with business partners. I'm going out to eat with some close friends."

Primrose didn't understand why Joel suddenly explained so much; she just continued to nod silently, tilting her head slightly to look at Joel with a puzzled expression, as if she wanted to ask if Joel had more to say. Going out to eat with close friends was a normal thing after all; there was no need to explain it in such detail. Normally, Primrose also went out with friends to have fun and dine together, and Joel never minded, so she also wanted to give Joel the freedom and comfort to meet his friends.

Moreover, Joel was a person with boundaries, always maintaining a certain distance in his interactions with the opposite gender. After the incident with Auntie last time, she had grown to trust Joel even more. Primrose knew that Joel would naturally keep his distance from people of the opposite gender when they approached, so she didn't need to remind him of this anymore.

Joel's gaze became even more dejected, and he continued to speak, almost gritting his teeth with each word.

"There's some woman too."

Joel thought he had provided enough necessary information, perhaps a bit too much, but Primrose's state became increasingly puzzled. She blinked her eyes, trying to comprehend the messages Joel wanted to convey.

"I know, you can go; I'm not stopping you. Going out to dinner and having fun with friends is perfectly normal."

Joel's demeanor shifted from frustration to disappointment. He looked at Primrose without averting his gaze and finally sighed, continuing the topic.

"Do you not want to give me any advice?"

"Quickly remind me not to interact with people of the opposite gender, to keep a distance from them, and to come home early," Joel thought to himself. Why could Primrose be so calm when he was about to have dinner with another woman? Was she really that confident and trusting in him, or did she simply not care where he went, what he did, and with whom? The more Joel thought, the more disappointed he felt.

"Well, then just make sure you don't drink too much; drinking too much is not good for your health."

Primrose also didn't quite understand what Joel was trying to suggest, so she gave him a piece of advice that she usually said to Joel whenever he went out. Joel's unusual state tonight made her wonder. What did he really want from her? Or had she not shown enough openness and comfort, so Joel wasn't at ease going out because he thought she hadn't given him permission to do so? Primrose's thoughts grew hazier as she pondered.

As for Joel, after hearing Primrose's words, his mood shifted from disappointment to despair.
