Chapter 47: Chapter 47
Primrose had originally planned to start her trip next week, but when she finished work and saw Joel waiting patiently and tenderly at the company's entrance, she changed her mind. She decided to immediately book a flight and go to Country Y tomorrow, so she wouldn't have to worry about Joel bothering her anymore.
"Hey, doesn't your ex-husband need to go to work? I've seen him at least three times today," Nancy couldn't help but lightly tease Primrose after she refused Joel's advances and left.
Regardless of her knowledge and understanding of CEOs of large companies, they are usually busy with work and rarely have time for themselves. So why did Joel suddenly have so much free time?
"I don't know, and I don't care. Maybe he's trying to appear affectionate to gain my sympathy."
"Regarding Joel not wanting to sign the divorce papers, maybe it's because he's concerned about his parents. They seem to really like me, so they'll be angry if Joel betrays me and has an affair with someone else after our marriage."
"Joel can't bear their anger, so he probably wants to appease me first. After making his parents gradually accept Auntie, we can proceed with the divorce."
This was the only reasonable explanation Primrose could think of at the moment. She certainly didn't believe that Joel constantly wanted to meet her because he loved her and didn't want to lose her or anything like that.
Between the two of them, there is still a marital contract, not a journey from love to marriage, so they can't love each other to the extent that they can't be separated. Moreover, Joel is usually a rational and somewhat cold person; he wouldn't break down or neglect his work just because of love. This much Primrose was sure of.
"Enough, don't mention Joel anymore; it's so annoying. Let's think about where we'll go and what we'll eat when we're in Country Y."
Nancy quickly changed the subject. After Primrose decided to take a leave of absence starting tomorrow, Nancy promptly submitted a leave request to her supervisor and booked their flight to Country Y. Nancy always respected Primrose's decisions, and she knew that Primrose needed a friend by her side to cheer her up at this time.
"I heard that Country Y has many beautiful blue beaches with white sand. I want to go swimming. I'll wear a hot bikini and become the center of attention."
After parting ways with Joel, Primrose seemed to return to her alluring and carefree self from before, always confident and not putting men on a pedestal. She approached relationships as something casual; if she found a man attractive, she would start dating him. And when she lost interest, they would just go their separate ways. Completely relaxed and unburdened.
"Well then, should we go buy some new bikinis? Shopping is a good way to relax."
As a cheerful woman, Nancy believed that the best way to cheer up when feeling down was to spend money. So whenever Primrose was feeling down, Nancy would continuously invite her to go shopping. Wearing beautiful clothes and precious jewelry would definitely make one feel much more comfortable.
When they arrived at the shopping center, Nancy and Primrose visited many famous clothing stores from various brands and bought a lot of things, not just bikinis but also elegant jewelry, sexy dresses, and trendy sunglasses. They were fully satisfied with their purchases when they finally returned home with bags in hand.
After Primrose's shopping spree, she felt much more relaxed, and she no longer worried about Joel bothering her at her company.
"If we go shopping a few more times, I think I'll forget who Joel is."
Primrose said with a mischievous smile as she put the shopping bags down on the living room sofa and sat down next to it, taking a sip of water. The comfort of spending money cannot be expressed in words.
"Oh really? Then get up; let's go shopping at the shopping center near my house again."
Nancy sat down, playfully going along with Primrose's joke. Seeing Primrose's rosy and cheerful face, Nancy let out a sigh of relief.
Forgetting about unpleasant things is good.
"Are you hungry? Do you want to cook at home or go out to eat? I know a new restaurant nearby; they say the food is delicious."
Nancy lazily leaned against the sofa's back, feeling a bit tired and yawning. Primrose silently evaluated the current situation.
Both of them were tired, so cooking at home wasn't a very feasible option.
"Let's go out to eat. Besides, I'm already wearing a beautiful dress, so I don't need to change clothes or put on makeup anymore; I can go as is, which is convenient."
Nancy nodded, quite agreeable with this idea. After all, after shopping and returning home, she always felt lazy and just wanted to stay in one place.
After taking a short break, Primrose and Nancy packed their new clothes into suitcases and then headed to the restaurant next door. It was a famous Japanese restaurant known for its fresh food and excellent service; the staff was very enthusiastic.
When Primrose and Nancy entered, a staff member quickly approached and led them to a table by the window, offering a perfect view of the street outside. They ordered some of the restaurant's famous dishes, such as sushi, tempura, and tonkatsu, and then handed the menu back to the server.
"Doesn't this restaurant look high-class? Brave recommended it to me."
Nancy became gentler when mentioning her boyfriend. Her voice was both cheerful and sweet. Primrose chuckled, recalling that initially, the two of them would argue constantly, and she was worried they would break up soon.
But unexpectedly, all their problems were gradually resolved, and up until now, they were very happy together.
"Sure, the restaurant your future husband recommended must be the most upscale place I've ever been to."
Primrose winked playfully, causing Nancy to blush and playfully bite her lip, her eyelashes lightly fluttering.
"What do you mean, my future husband? I haven't even thought about that yet."
Seeing Nancy's state, Primrose let out a little laugh, pretending to ponder.
"You haven't thought about it yet? Well, then start thinking about it slowly. I see your eyes light up every time you mention him. If you don't hold onto him tightly, someone else might snatch him away."
Primrose deliberately lowered her voice to sound mysterious, then laughed mischievously when Nancy blushed and became shy.
Just as Primrose was about to say something else, suddenly a deep and pleasant male voice interrupted her train of thought, ringing out from beside them and cutting through her words.
"Primrose, my angel, is that you?"
Primrose looked over at the handsome blond man who had just appeared, silently evaluating him from top to bottom. He was dressed impeccably in a well-fitted suit, and his handsome face revealed a faint, gentle smile. He had a straight, tall nose and slightly thin lips that curled up. His aura was as cold as winter ice, but his hair was dyed smoky gray, giving him a wild and charming look.
He was a mature and attractive man, Primrose thought to herself.
But obviously, she couldn't remember who he was.
