Chapter 46: Chapter 46

Joel, indeed, had the gift of persuasive speech, as after expressing himself, he gave Primrose time to carefully consider everything. That night, he truly didn't call Primrose again. Primrose thought she wouldn't be able to sleep that night due to lingering emotions, but after having a deep talk with Nancy and drinking a warm glass of milk that Nancy prepared for her, she had a restful sleep. The next morning, Primrose woke up at the same time as Nancy did, and they had breakfast together before going to work as usual.

"Do you really not need to take a day off to unwind?" Nancy asked Primrose repeatedly on the way to the company. At first, she earnestly advised Primrose to take a day off to rest properly, suggesting that she could go to a cafe or do some shopping after waking up to ease her mental stress. For someone going through heartbreak, it's challenging to immediately refresh one's spirit and focus on work.

"I'm okay, really. Don't worry. When I'm at home with nothing to do, I tend to overthink. I need to focus on something to stop thinking about Joel," Primrose said, shaking her head, her eyes showing determination. She wasn't the type of girl who would be overly delicate or clingy when dealing with heartbreak.

If Joel was at fault, she didn't want to continue contacting him. A disloyal man didn't deserve to make her sad or disrupt her work. When they arrived at the company, unexpectedly, Primrose saw Joel standing at the entrance. Joel didn't seem to be in a good state; his face looked weary, showing signs of exhaustion from not getting enough rest, and his eyes appeared bloodshot.

Joel's clothes were also more disheveled than usual. When he saw Primrose, his eyes brightened, and he quickly took a few steps to approach her. "Primrose, can I talk to you for a moment? Just a brief conversation; it won't take much of your time," he said.

Primrose wasn't particularly interested in meeting Joel at this moment; in her heart, there was only disgust. He already had Auntie, so why did he want to get involved with her again? Did he want to have both of them at the same time? Her heart was too generous and forgiving.

"Step aside; you're blocking my way. I'm busy, and I don't want to talk to you," Primrose retorted.

"After signing the divorce papers, help me send them to Nancy, and we won't need to see each other again," Joel requested.

The light in Joel's eyes gradually dimmed, and he seemed to have lost all strength, looking at Primrose in despair. "Auntie and I have nothing going on; you..."

"Shut up. I refuse to meet you; don't bother me anymore." Primrose interrupted him before he could finish. Without waiting for Joel to say more, she pulled Nancy aside and walked straight ahead, clearly impatient with Joel's gentleness at this moment. Everything was clear now, so why did Joel want to continue deceiving and acting as if nothing had happened?

Primrose couldn't forgive betrayal, and she was no longer the kind of stupid woman who only saw love.

"If Joel was at fault, I wouldn't even want to continue contacting him. A man like him doesn't deserve to make me sad or interfere with my life. When we arrive at the office, he will probably want to follow us inside, and he will be desperate to contact me. But I've already blocked all methods of communication with him. I don't want to hear his explanations; I don't care anymore. No matter what, I've made up my mind to end this. I don't want to be bothered by his messages or calls every day," Primrose thought to herself.

Before, she used to dislike Auntie, and now that Joel was with Auntie, she also didn't want to have any contact with him anymore.

At noon, Primrose was in the middle of her work and wanted to finish it before going for lunch. Nancy was worried that Primrose would skip the meal, so she went out to buy lunch for both of them. Just as they stepped out of the company's door, they saw Joel standing under a nearby tree, holding a neatly packaged bag in his hand.

Nancy intended to act as if she hadn't seen him and walked straight ahead, but she was stopped by Joel. "Nancy, I know Primrose is busy and often skips lunch. It's not good for her health. I bought two nutritious lunch boxes for you and Primrose. Can you help me give them to her to eat?" Joel's voice tried to sound calm to avoid coming across as cold, fearing that Primrose's friend might dislike him.

But Nancy paid no attention to his tone. She looked at the shop's name printed on the lunch bag, realizing it was a place that Primrose loved to eat. Nevertheless, no matter what, Nancy didn't want to accept them.

"So, you want me to help you give the lunch to Primrose and conveniently arrange a meeting between you two, right?" Nancy said it straightforwardly, looking straight into Joel's eyes. Joel also didn't try to avoid her gaze, nodding in acknowledgment.

"I know yesterday's situation could be easily misunderstood, but Auntie and I really have nothing going on. I don't want Primrose to leave my life," Joel explained.

Nancy was always by Primrose's side, and she also witnessed the sweet kiss yesterday. Faced with Joel's sincere words, she felt nothing but disdain.

"Oh, you want Primrose to be with you, but you don't want to let go of your ex-girlfriend, showing all this affection, right? You're such a bad guy; I will never help you hurt Primrose." Nancy coldly laughed and walked straight ahead to the nearby restaurant to buy two lunch boxes, ignoring Joel's stunned expression.

Nancy didn't want to eat the lunch Joel brought, and she was sure Primrose wouldn't either. After picking up the lunch bags, Nancy returned to the office and placed them on Primrose's desk, sighing.

"I've run into a tough situation. Can you guess who I met just now?" she asked Primrose.

Looking at Nancy's state, Primrose didn't need to guess to know the answer.

"Was it Joel?"

Nancy nodded, her lips curling up with a hint of scorn.

"He prepared a nutritionally balanced lunch for you. Do you want to eat it?"

Primrose burst into laughter and playfully responded.

"I can't swallow it down. After the heartfelt words, he said just now, I couldn't even swallow them."

"Better to proceed with the divorce; that way, he won't have the leisure to linger around me anymore."

"What are you planning to do next? It seems like Joel won't give up unless he can meet you and have an honest conversation," Nancy asked as Primrose playfully blinked and gestured toward her.

Primrose smiled and extended her hand towards Nancy, waving gently. Nancy, in a quiet manner, approached, hearing the gentle and comfortable tone in Primrose's voice.

"Well, I still have a lot of vacation days left, right? Anyway, considering the situation is hopeless, I want to go on a trip to avoid running into Joel again. During that time, I'll visit a new city and country every day. Can he keep up with that?" Primrose said it with a hint of playfulness.

"When he can't meet you, Joel will eventually get tired and sign the divorce papers. Do I guess right?" Nancy replied.

Nancy found Primrose's idea intriguing and delightful.

"That sounds great, but you forgot one thing—I also have a lot of vacation days left this year. Let me go with you and spend all of my remaining vacation days. Wherever you go, I'll go," Nancy said warmly, making Primrose laugh joyfully.
