Chapter 22: Chapter 22

: Beach house party

→Narrator: Kam

Those girls were CRAZY! Nearly giving us a heart attack as we drove over to Devon's place that was a good five miles from our own home.

Yeah, here in offshore, the concept of 'nextdoor' is distorted.

Asa would circle around us at high speed, like she was taunting me, taking sharp bends and doing complete three-sixties, three times in a row, while Kosi and Lola screamed at the top of their voices from where they sat at the windows, holding on to the hood, hollering and cheering and laughing like it was all a big fat fucking joke, singing along to Bitch Better Have My Money, blaring from the speakers.

Jemi looked like he was about to have a cardiac arrest and die, his face, going white with petrified fear when Asa did another three-sixty in front of us. He poked his head out of the window and shouted at them, "I swear to God, I'm taking my damn lambo back when we get home! Stop that!"

They only laughed in response, Kosi, shoving her middle finger in the air and screaming at the top of her voice. "Fuck you, daddy!" As the car zipped away.

Jemi ran a worried palm over his head and rubbed his face in frustration. "Those damn girls will be the death of me."

"You and me both," I gulped, deciding that Asa would be riding with me when we were coming back.

The other boys were chuckling at our expense... Except Amir, who kept glancing at me through the rearview mirror, with this frustrated expression on his face.

I frowned, getting worried. What could be troubling him so badly? Literally nothing gets under his skin.

I shrugged it off, deciding I'd just ask him later.

We arrived about ten minutes after the girls did, pulling up in front of a huge classy villa with a large swimming pool and aesthetic gardens.

The girls were already there, leaning against Kosi's car and a group of guys were trying to talk with them.

I gritted my teeth, parking haphazardly and jumping out of the truck, slamming the door shut.

"Hey, hey! Easy on my baby!" Jordan protested.

I only responded by showing him the finger.

Asa noticed me coming over, a calm smile  stretching over her face.

"You nearly gave me a fucking heart attack!" I all but yelled.

"We won the race!" She said, excitedly, like she didn't just hear what I said.

"There was never a race, Asa." I deadpanned.

She shrugged cooly. "Whatever. I want a prize."

Sighing through my nostrils, I decided to humour her. "What do you want?"

"Ice cream!"

It was impossible to stay mad at her when she was acting like a hyperactive three year old, so I pulled her to me, laughing softly. "You got it."

We walked into the huge house, pulsing with the beat of DJ Neptune's Nobody, the catchy beat, bouncing off the walls and I hummed along to some of the lyrics I knew, brushing up on my pidgin English.

'Cause e be you I want.

(E be you I dey want o)

And to prove my point.

I go risk it all o.

I don't wanna hear sey

I don't wanna hear sey you dey with another man.

The house was packed, but not to the point where you're rubbing bodies with random strangers. The party was in full swing and people were already taking advantage of the spacious dancefloor, moving to the beat of the music. Others stayed in the darker corners, chatting with friends or eating or making out.

"Booze!" Jordan cried, delighted, going to hug a cooler that contained bottles of beer.

Dave sighed, rolling his eyes. "I better keep an eye on him before he streaks naked again."

"That happened once, asshole!" Jordan shouted.

Dave rolled his eyes again but walked away with him.

Kosi was already tugging on Jemi's hands, leading him to the dancefloor.

Asa was walking ahead of me, leaving me staring at her round ass and smooth skin in that erotic dress and I caught up to her easily, my hands, going around her waist to stop her from moving.

She looked at me, dark coffee eyes, squinting at me in askance.

I leaned down, pressing my lips to her neck in a gentle, sensual kiss. "What did I say about you, not leaving my side?"

I smiled at the way she trembled in my arms. But she smiled up at me, those dark red lips, stretching to reveal pearly white teeth. "Sorry, it slipped my mind."

She slid her hands around my neck, tugging me down to look into her eyes. We maintained eye contact for a moment before she pressed her sweet lips to mine.

My arms tightened around her tiny waist, pulling her even closer to me, her hands, grazing my hair. I felt my body heat up, responding sinfully to the softness of her body, plastered to mine. Her kiss, her hands, her skin... Her.

"Thanks for reminding me, golden boy."

She had this little smirk when she retracted herself from my arms, seeing the way I was breathing raggedly through my nostrils.

This witch.

We stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity, and I realized it was possible to get lost in the universe of your lover's eyes.

"So... Uh... You wanna dance?" I asked, suddenly getting shy at her beauty.

She nodded, walking ahead of me and I followed her until we found a suitable spot on the dancefloor.

The music ricocheted off the loud stereo, the low bass, making my heart pound.

Baby, this your body no be here

I tell you sey you fine, you no dey hear

Me I no be Dundee, Dundee.

I see you with Soji.

She turned to look at me, the dark eyeliner made her eyes pop. Deep red lips that I wanted, kissing mine.

Hooking her fingers around my belt loops, she pulled me to her until the space between us became nonexistent. My hands gripped her soft hips as a new song came on. Something more sensual than the previous pop song.

I watched her twist and grind in my arms, momentarily blindsided at how perfectly and effortlessly she moved to the beat of the music. Shapely hips rocking against mine, so sensually, I felt a familiar ache in my lower abdomen.

Fuck.

My breathing turned ragged when her right hand crept to my nape, teasing the hair on my neck while her left hand splayed across my chest, going lower and lower as her hips grinded seductively into mine.

Did she know what she was doing to me?

We danced like that for a while, my hands, gripping her hips that were moving against mine in a nonstop rotating massage, dark eyes, locked on mine, mesmerizing me, fingers, playing with my hair.

When suddenly...

"DeAngeles, my man! What's good!"

That annoying voice ripped me out of my Asa-induced haze and I whipped around to see a grinning Teriq, approaching us with at least, half a dozen other guys.

Why does he have a pack around him all the damn time?

The heavy mood had been destroyed and I noticed Asa plaster to my side, while my hands gripped her waist protectively.

I scanned the pack of guys around him and I recognized Devontae who was smiling good naturedly at me and I calmed down.

I usually went off with the vibes and energy I got from people. Devon had nothing but good vibes going about him and I just liked him instantly...

Teriq on the other hand...

Well, let's just say he's one lewd gaze away from earning himself a fist punch.

"Glad you could make it!" He said cheerily when he reached where I was. "You and this fine bhabie you carry around withya." He actually winked at Asa who shivered a bit in my arms, leaning closer to me. I looked down at her, stroking the skin of her waist, trying to calm her down, and the raging inferno inside of me.

Teriq annoyed me. Being around him made me contemplate stupid things. I thought this was Devontae's party. What the fuck is he doing here?

They're cousins, I remembered, internally groaning.

How did I forget that vital piece of information?

The air around us was getting heavier... Spelling out trouble a mile away. But I was too suffocated to think straight.

The way he was looking at her....

Breathe, Kam, breathe. Don't snap his neck. Orange is not a good colour on you...

But with every word he spewed, this fucker was making it hard for me to think rationally.

"Asa baby, you're doing somtin to me." He gazed at her, those dark eyes of his, raking her up and down, licking his bottom lip. "That dress, doing somtin to me. You tryna turn a righteous man a sinner?"

I tried hard to not wipe that stupid smirk off his lips... Preferably with my fists.

Asa was shaking beside me and I couldn't tell if it was from fear or anger... Or both.

Just the thought of her being uncomfortable with this idiot's presence made me want to slam dunk his ass in a garbage can.

"I'm not your baby, asshole." She bristled behind me, trembling, and my hand around her waist tightened protectively, wanting to soothe her.

Teriq looked absolutely ticked but he wiped that sneer on his face with a determined smirk.

His next words made me snap.

"Oh, you will be when I'm done with you. I can put that snarky little mouth of yours to good use. Let's see what you can do with my dick in it."

And I saw red.
