When Sonya woke up the next day, Maxwell was no longer beside her. She called his name to check if he is in the room but there was no reply. She stood up and pick her phone to check the time.

“what! 11am” she scream and quickly get out of the bed and ran downstairs. She check around and did not see him.

“ma'am, sir ask me to tell you that he left a note for you but in case you didn’t see it because you rush downstairs after checking the time, then I should tell you to take your time and don’t worry about coming over to the company and just rest. Also if there is anything you need. Please do ask me for it” Mrs smith relayed the message and went back to what she was doing. Sonya nodded at her before she left and went back to the room. She brushed and took a bath, then she dressed and came down to eat.

“should we serve your food now?” one of the maids asked her.

“yes please” she answered and went to sit at the dinning. After eating eating she called Evelyn and loveth and chat with them for a while. Then she decide to watch some movies and take a walk, after which she went back to bed after taking lunch. She woke up later and walk downstairs, she met the two maids chatting in the dinning. They stood up immediately they saw her.

“Miss” they both said in greetings. Sonya respond to them and ask what they were doing.

“we are about to start making dinner” one of them answered. “really? Then I will like to join you. I want to prepare something myself for Maxwell” she told them and motion for them to go to the kitchen together. The maids followed obediently.

“what will you like to prepare?” they asked.

“Goan prawn curry with raw mango and curried Parmesan fish fingers and also pina colada pork ribs” she said with excitement. The both of them look at her in a strange way. They wonder what she is talking about.

“ahem, sorry miss, we don’t quite get the dishes you are talking about. Also they all seems like food for a non vegetarian, master is a vegetarian” one of them said.

“ah! Vegetarian? What are you saying? We eat…” she trailed off and remembered the times they eaten together.

“except from chicken, he always eat stuff like this with her. Could it be he ate them because of her?” she thought and turn to face them.

“then what does he like most?” they both look at each other before answering at the same time,

“lentil soup, salad” “what!” she exclaimed totally surprised. Sonya laugh nervously.

After sometimes, they all start preparing various kinds of food and Sonya decide to take a quite to wash away her sweat before he gets back. Just as she finished dressing she heard the door bell rang.

“that must be him” Sonya said happily and rush out to open the door.

“why are you ringing the bell when its your house” she said and was surprised to see Joyce at the door instead.

“its you” they both said at the same time. Joyce hissed and throw the door open then entered. Sonya close it and followed her.

“where is Max?” she asked looking around the living room for him.

“I thought you bought him along with you” Sonya replied sardonically.

“you are here again. I thought you are a student, why do you have free time to hang around at someone’s house all the time” she also replied in the same manner.

“do you investigate me? Then perhaps you didn’t investigate well, the semester has finished which means no school. So I have all the time in the world to hang out here” she replied. Joyce wanted to reply back but they heard the opening of the door and turn to look at who it is. Maxwell entered and walk towards them.

“Joyce, how come you are here before me?” he asked facing her. Joyce's face changed to that of a sweet kind lady and she walk towards him, hugged him.

“Max!” she called his name sweetly. Maxwell wanted to hug her back but seeing to look on Sonya’s face, he decide against it and pull Joyce away from his body slowly.

“what message did your dad have for me?” he asked.

“shouldn’t you welcome me first. Is not like we are stranger. Can’t I come to see you for other reasons?” she said acting like she was hurt by his words.

“I don’t mean it like that. You said it was important” he replied.

“hmmm” Sonya said cleaning her voice.

“it seems the both of you have decided to ignore me”

“Sonya” he called and walk up to her. Sonya ignore him and push him out of her way.

“Miss Joyce, since you are Maxwell’s guest. I shouldn’t keep you standing. Come have a seat” she said and pull her along with her to sit then she went back to Maxwell.

“baby, you must be tired after a long day at work. Let me help you” she said sweetly and help him remove his tie and suit.

“why don’t you go and change first and take a shower. I already prepared your favourite” she continued. Maxwell was stunned. "she is really a good actor” he thought but still did as she said.After he left, Joyce who was acting innocent changed instantly.

“what are you trying to do?” she asked provocatively.

“I think that question belongs to me. He is my man” she responded.

“is that so, why don’t I think so? Is it because its fake” she said again.

“fake? Talking about fake, that should be referring to you. And while we are at that. I think I should apologize to you. If he has not fallen in love with me years back, then you wont have to break your engagement with him. But what can I do? is not my fault that am beautiful and attractive”

“you are lying” she shouted angrily.

When she learned that he break off their engagement because of another girl then, she has refused to believe it.

“you are just one of his toys” she screamed at her again.

“Miss Joyce, you are raising your voice. Am sure you wont want him to see you as that kind of woman” she said and Joyce calm down.

“there is no need for me to say anything to you, Just wait and see” she said and went back to sit. Sonya also went back to the kitchen. Maxwell finished and came down to join them.

“you are finished” Joyce said and stood up to meet him. “why are you acting this way? Its not like you” Maxwell said. She changed her facial expression and hissed.

“you are not interesting at all. Why cant you pretend longer with me?’ she said and sat down back.

“but then, your girlfriend is really interesting and fierce” she said and laugh.

“its not funny at all. Did my mum ask you to do this?” he asked and sat down beside her.

“not really, lets say am just curious about the girl you chose over me” she replied.

“and?”

"I want to help you test her"

"And?"

“and what, that’s it” she answered.

“I know that’s not all. Spit it out” he said.

“okay fine. Lets say am a bit jealous and also a guy approached me immediately I arrived at the airport and told me somethings although I didn't believe it so I came over to the house to confirm it then we met at a bar and he wanted me to make your girlfriend believe you are just toying with her that you have someone already chosen by your family then we made a deal. That’s all I can tell you” she said and stood up to avoid more questions from him.

“let’s go eat” she called to him.

“its Simon right?” he said as he stood up. She turned back to him surprised.

“how did you know that?” before he could replied Sonya came back with the dishes and the two maids served them. Maxwell was surprised to see there is no meat dish among the food given that she love eating that. Sonya sat down beside him.

“you prepare all this?”

“yes, why, you don’t like them? I heard they are your favorite”

“no I love them” he replied and start to eat.

“Miss Sonya, you are not a vegetarian, are you?” Joyce asked all of a sudden.

“why do you ask?”

“nothing, just that you look like you don’t like any of the food, seeing as you’ve not put anything in your mouth” she answered. Sonya smiled without replying.

“but nevertheless you must be a good cook. This is the first time Max will eat food cooked by someone else apart from Mrs smith happily and with satisfaction” she continued. Maxwell raise his head from his food.

“don’t talk when you are eating” he refrained her. Sonya ate just lentil soup and soon finish.

“Miss Joyce, why you are also not eating?” Sonya asked when she saw that she was just playing with the food.

“because its not to my taste. I guess am used to the way Max cooked them for me, so I just cant seems to enjoy other kind of taste” she answered and bat her eyes at Maxwell to annoy her. Sonya stare at Maxwell angrily.

“is not like that” Maxwell wanted to explain but she cut him off.

“is that so, so you are saying you’ve not eaten any of these dishes for the past years?” she asked turning her head from Maxwell back to her.

“yes. I really miss them so much. He even feed me sometimes” she answered provocatively. Sonya removed the food in front of her.

“then you shouldn’t eat this or it will make you remember those sad moment since there is nobody to feed them to you anymore” she replied. Joyce wanted to say more but Maxwell interrupted.

“Joyce, you are going too far. Its no more funny” he said and Joyce slam the table and stood up.

“really? Do you think it was funny when you dump me for some unknown girl year back. Do you think I find it funny that you stop our engagement ceremony because of someone that does not even exist” she shouted. Sonya was startled.

“I break it off with you way back before then but you decide to plan an engagement all by yourself without informing me” Maxwell reply calmly.

“listen I don’t know why you are like this now but its not going to work” he said again.

“you think so, am not going to give up. Your parent will never accept her. Not after discovering that she is two-timing. She is just your toy and when you are done playing, you will still come back to me” she said and left angrily
