Sonya was speechless. “what just happened?” she wondered. After few minutes of silence, the maids came and clear the table.

“am sorry” he said.

“sorry? You think sorry is the right word to say in this kind of situation Explain, what did she mean by what she said?” she asked annoyed.

“I thought you had just a simple relationship, Did you cheat on her?” she asked more curiously. Maxwell stand up and walk to the living room and Sonya followed behind him. She sat down and made him stand in front of her

“its not like that she is just delusional. It was nothing like that” he explained.

“so do you cook for her or not?” she asked with a folded hands.

“not exactly”

“what do you mean not exactly? Explain it clearly” she asked sternly

“I did cook for her but its not her alone. Also Micheal and Kelvin. Just occasionally” he replied.

“but you did feed her or did you feed Micheal and Kelvin too” she asked again.

“not at all” he answered.

“so what did she mean about me being a toy?”

“she is just trying to provoke you”

“so you are saying you don’t know she likes you” Maxwell kept quiet not saying anything.

“so you did know she likes you” she said getting pissed off over again.

She breath out trying to calm down a bit before asking her next question.

“for how long were the both of you engaged for?” she asked.

“about fifteen years” he answered reluctantly.

“fifteen years!” she screamed.

“ah, sorry, I didn’t mean for it to come out that way” she said and look away from him. Maxwell sat down and try to cuddle her but she refused.

“am very sorry, forgive me will you?” he said pleading.

“who am I not to forgive the great Maxwell Hart” she said still not appeased.

“okay, what do you want me to do for you to forgive me”

“a good boyfriend should know that. She even have access to your house” she answered. Maxwell turned and called out to the maids, they both came immediately.

“without my permission, Joyce should not be allowed in here any more. I will inform Mrs smith myself” he instructed and dismissed them.

“satisfied now” he asked facing her and held her closely to himself.

“I don’t know when you will also get tired of me and throw me. Maybe it wont be longer than a year, who knows” she said acting pitifully.

“that’s never going to happen” he replied.

“why cant it happen. After all, you break off your engagement of fifteen solid years” she said still sulking.

“because the both of you are different”

"how are we different?” she said and demonstrated with her hand spread out to him.

“because I love you” he answered. Sonya smiled and rest her head on his chest happily.

Sonya and her roommate start packing their stuff for the camp. “Sonya, can you help me carry this bag? Is too heavy for me” Evelyn requested struggling with a big luggage. Sonya walk up to her.

“what on earth did you pack inside. We are just going for four days. Do you have to pack the entire house” she said and took it from her while loveth rush in from outside.

“Sonya, the person you wanted to bring along, who is it? You did not tell us much about it. I need to know so I can arrange some things” she said.

“Amy, she is my immediate boss’ she replied.

“are you friends with her?” she asked.

“kind of. We are somehow close enough to say we are friends” she answered.

“I thought you were bringing that friend of yours” Evelyn chipped in.

“you mean Charles? I wanted to but he’s out of town. He has something important to attend to” she answered.

“you don’t have to explain. Is not like I want to know” she replied and continue what she was doing.

“Sonya, when is your cousin coming?” loveth also asked her.

“he should be here any minute"she answered and they get their stuff in to evelyn’s car. They went back to their room to change their clothes putting on a blue top with their name printed on it and jeans.

“why do you choose colour blue” loveth asked not pleased with the colour.

“because that’s my favourite colour” Sonya answered, checking and admiring herself in front of the mirror.

“I doubt if my brother is going to put his on. He does not really like blue” Evelyn told her.

“don’t worrry am sure he will wear it” she replied and smile at her. Sonya got a call and pick it up then cut after some seconds. “they are here” she informed them and they went out locking the door after them.

They went to where the car was packed and was surprised to see Charles.

“Charles, how come you are here? I thought you said you have something to do” Sonya said approaching him.

“can I see you for a minute?” he asked and they both step aside to talk. They return after a while.

“girls, since there is still space for one more person” she told them and smiled. Loveth and Evelyn look at the both of them with uncertainty.

“is there a problem with that?” Sonya asked again.

“no not at all. Where are they? You said they were here” loveth asked instead.

“that’s what he told me. Wait let me call him again” she answered and called Maxwell.

“hello, I thought you said you are here” she asked.

“yes, I can’t see you guys there” he answered.

“where are you?”

“at the resort. You said to meet there” he replied.

“okay then, we’ll join you soon” she said and drop the call.

“he is at the resort already” she informed them.

“I thought we agree to meet here” Evelyn said and continued. “what about your cousin? Time is running out” she added.

“he will also meet us there” she said and wave them away then they all enter the car and drove off.They arrived there in two hours and alighted from the car, Maxwell came to meet them with Amy and Micheal. He and Sonya hugged each other.

“you didn’t say you were coming along with Micheal” she said and greeted the two of them.

“you ask me to bring along someone” he replied her.

“and why are you not wearing the cloth I gave you” she asked disappointed.

“Sonya, come help with the luggage” Evelyn called interrupting them. The two of them with Amy and Micheal went to them and bought anything out and they all went inside.

“there are seven rooms. Sonya and I will take one, so the rest of you can pick the rest” Maxwell told them and pick Sonya’s bag and entered with her.

Everyone picked a room of their choice. Loveth picked a room and also picked one for Simon since he has not arrived yet. After sometime, Simon also arrived. Everyone unpacked their bags and came out to join others for lunch.

Charles saw Sonya just coming out of her room and went to meet her.

“I thought you guys where the only ones going for this. And its at a resort” he whispered to her.

“it was supposed to be just us but we decide to invite more people. Why? don’t you like it” she whispered back. He shakes his head to indicate no.

“not that. Just a bit surprised” he replied. Simon walk up to her. “Sonya, can I see you in private?” he asked. Sonya excuse herself from Charles. They move to a corner where they were alone.

“why didn’t you pick my calls?” he asked looking melancholic.

“what call? I didn’t get your call” she replied.

“then why didn’t you inform of the time to meet up today?” he asked again. Sonya was surprised.

“I text you yesterday. Are you sure you didn’t get my message?” she also asked. He sighed sadly.

“forget it then, maybe there is a mix up somewhere” Sonya nodded her head.

“but why is your face like that? Did something bad happen?” she asked concerned.

“nothing, am just a little bit tired” he replied and smiled at her.

“you are okay now right? You left in an hurry yesterday” he continued.

“am very much better. Thanks” she replied and he hugged her. Sonya was startled but didn’t push him away. Before when he hugs her, she will always hug him back with enthusiasm but now she felt that something has changed about their relationship.

“I feel like you are not the same person I know. Ever since you came to this country, you’ve changed. I shouldn’t have let you leave then” Simon said lamentably and buried his face in her shoulders. Sonya place her hands on his back and tap him gently. “I haven’t changed at all. Am still your sweet cousin and you are still my one and only family who I care about the most” she said with a gentle voice. Loveth looked for Simon without finding him. Then she saw him with Sonya. She continue watching them from the start of their discussion till when he hugged her. She watch them in anger and stare at them with hatred in her eyes.

“Even though they are cousins. They are always together. She has never seen any cousin who are close like that. They are not even brothers and sisters. Whenever she sees a chance to talk to him alone. He will always talk about her and worry about her. She even block the both of their numbers on their phones and plan this trip for herself and him but she is ruining it again” she thought angrily.

Loveth walk up to the both of them smiling sweetly. Sonya and Simon move away from each other.

"Simon, you must be tired. Here, this drink is for you" she said and stretch a drink to him. Simon look at her uninterested and collect it from her. Loveth was happy.

"Then I will leave you two to talk" she said and walking away ignoring Sonya completely. Immediately she left, Simon handed over the drink to Sonya.

"She gave it to you because she wants you to drink it" Sonya rejected not collecting it from him.

"Am also giving you because I want you to drink it" he replied using her own words against her.

"Then I don't want it" she said back and pull out her tongue to him and left. Simon smiled at her behavior and dropped the drink on the floor and also walk away. Loveth, who was watching them from afar clinch her finger together in anger and turn away from there to avoid being seen by Simon.

Everyone sat down at the big table to eat. The food was served by the chefs Maxwell hired and they start to eat. After eating the plates was packed and everyone waited for a while chatting before moving to the open space in the house.

Loveth stood in the midst of everyone and held a paper in her hand. Since she is the person that suggested it, she was put in charge of organizing it.

"Since we will be spending four days, I have the planned out interesting activities for us. Firstly, today we are going to pick a name from his box and whoever you pick will be your partner for today and tomorrow. Before I explain further, lets pick the names first” she informed them and bought a small box.

“I will lead by example by going first” she said and pick a paper from the box. She check it and smile to herself.

“first step done and successful” she thought happily. After her everyone follows. Charles was teamed up with Amy while Sonya got teamed up with Micheal and Evelyn with Maxwell and lastly loveth and Simon. When Sonya saw that she was not paired with Maxwell, she was a little sad but still went to sit with Micheal. Everyone also exchange seats. Loveth stares sweetly and smiled at Simon has he sat next to her.

“Is there a problem?” Simon asked.

“oh nothing” she answered and stops staring at him.

“so now since we know our partner now, so the first thing is to go grocery shopping together and if you and your partner like, you can go to buy other things then have dinner together before coming back. Most importantly get to know each other” she said and sat down.

“loveth, what kind of activity is this? Why do I feel like this thing is planned” Evelyn said not happy with the way she got paired with her brother.

“you should just say you don’t want to be my partner. No need to twist your meanings” Maxwell restored beside her. Evelyn ignored him and face Sonya.

“lets exchange partners, don’t you want to be with your boyfriend?” she asked.

“I don’t want to” she answered. Evelyn hissed and face her brother again.

“Max, how can you let another man be with your girlfriend for a very long time and also someone handsome. Why don’t you exchange and be with her to strengthen your relationship?” she asked pleading.

“don’t worry about that. My relationship with your sister-in-law is well secured, I will just take this opportunity to spend more time with my little sister” he replied and hug her closely. Sonya laugh at them then she noticed that Simon was looking down and unhappy.

“Simon, are you okay? You don’t look good” she asked concerned. Simon smiled at her and shake his head to indicate no.

“okay everyone lets get to it, time is going” loveth said and stood up then she drag Simon with her and left.
