CHAPTER 07

“ Hudson” Alvara called, climbing downstairs. Looking over to her left, she could see Leriel, John and Paisley discussing what she was sure is about Ben but Hudson is nowhere seen.

“ Erm…Hey” Alvara said to a guy passing by. The guy was a tall teenager with a dark curly hair and dark brown eyes. He was on a casual attire of Jean, a plain white shirt and a blue snickers.

Turning to look at Alvara, his heart skipped immediately. His lips slightly parted as he was captivated by the beauty before him. He stared at her not wanting to look away.

“Hello” Alvara waved, snapping him out of his fantasy. He flashed her a captivating and sexy smile which will get any girl weak to the knee.

“ How may I help you pretty?” He asked in a gentle tone.

“ Have you seen this guy called Hudson. He’s tall and slim with a dark brown hair and has a light complexion” Alvara asked.

“ Oh yeah, he just left by the backyard some minutes ago” The guy(Maverick) replied.

“ Did he by any chance tell you where he was heading to?” Alvara asked.

“ Nope, he just asked me about the backyard leading to the border” Maverick replied and Alvara’s eyes widened.

“ Fuck, Hudson” She cursed and ran off even before Maverick could say anything further.

She got to the backyard and saw Hudson heading into the woods. Running and catching up with him, she quickly grabbed his wrist, stopping him on his track.

“ What are you doing here?” Hudson asked on seeing her.

“ Shouldn’t I be the one asking where you’re heading to?” Alvara asked back and Hudson flung her hand off.

“ Don’t try to stop me, just head back” He said.

“ You know you’re endangering your life, right?” Alvara asked.

“ My dad’s life is also in danger, he needs me” Hudson replied.

“ Really? What do plan on doing then; going to the Sentinels headquarter and rescuing your dad, seriously? Are trying to act a movie here?” Alvara scoffed.

“ I overheard Leriel and John discussing that my Dad is being transferred from Lake Wood Country Jail to Fulton County Jail and they will pass through the border” Hudson explained.

“ So you wanna stop them?” Alvara asked and Hudson nodded.

“ Do you wanna join me?” He asked and and Alvara kept mute for sometime.

“ Fine, you can decide not to” Hudson shrugged and turned, ready to continue on his track.

“ I’ll come along. You will need my help” Alvara’s voice halted him and a smile formed on his lips as he turned.

“ Let’s go” He said and Alvara nodded.

They both headed downtown Atlanta and got to a warehouse district. They entered the warehouse, climbing the stairs up to the rooftop. On getting there, they stayed in position, waiting for the Sentinel to arrive.

Soon they saw three cars approaching with a truck trailing behind them.

“ Am sure your dad must be inside the truck” Alvara said getting a nod from Hudson.

“ Ok, here’s the plan; We will target the tire and engine of the first and second car, creating a distraction then we will head to the truck” Hudson explained.

“ Ok, you’re ready?” He asked and Alvara nodded with a smirk.

“ Ever ready” She said.

Letting out a deep sigh they both closed their eyes. Focusing their mind on the tire of the two car approaching, the breeze ruffling their hair, they disengaged the tire’s of the two car and they call came to a halt.

Seeing that the cars before him has stopped, the driver of the truck also pulled a brake.

Meanwhile, inside the truck was Ben, Polaris and a girl who was probably Alvara’s age or maybe younger.

“ You know, I never thought a time will come when I’ll regret a decision I made” Ben spoke up and Polaris glared at him, letting out a mocking scoff.

“ You deserve it” She said.

“ And if not for the fact that I’m bounded with this inhibitor, I would have ripped you apart” She added.

“ Listen Polaris. I know you have every right to be angry with me. What I did to you is not forgivable, I was a prosecutor, I know that. But then, I never knew I was in the wrong. I always had thinking of mutants being monsters and you won’t blame me for hating you. I thought it was you who killed my wife”

“ But it turned out you weren’t at fault. Plus the fact that my son is a mutant and he mistakenly ripped a building apart, killing so many people and now I have to protect him from the law because even with a mandatory minimums, he will get a ten years imprisonment.

“ I guess this is karma’s way of getting back at me for all I did” Ben sighed sadly.

“ You deserve everything that is happening to you now and congratulations for realizing you’ve ruining many innocent lives. Well how about you go apologize to the little boy who I strapped on a bus while he screamed, begging to join his mom whom you have sent to prison, Or maybe the hundreds of families you and your co-workers have ruined, cause as for me........ I have no forgiveness to offer” Polaris hissed.

“ Just bear one thing in mind, Bernard, I HATE YOU and that is never changing” She snapped.

“ Polaris……

Ben was interrupted when the moving truck suddenly stopped.

“ What was that?” Autumn asked.

“ I don’t know” Polaris replied, her ear on guard.

BACK TO HUDSON AND ALVARA

The cops in the two car stepped out immediately only to see the tires of the car separated.

“ How did it happen?”

“ I think there are mutants around” A cop said, looking around.

“ Why will you say so?” Another asked.

“ Because only mutants will try to stop us” The first replied. He eventually looked up saw Hudson and Alvara at the rooftop.

“ I knew it” He exclaimed.

“ Look over there” He said, pointing at the rooftop.

Matteo stepped out of the car and on seeing the two( Hudson and Alvara) with the aid of a telescope, his anger blazed.

“ I think there’s a change of plans here” He said.

INSIDE THE TRUCK

“ I think this is the best time for us to escape” Ben said and Polaris glared at him.

“ And how do you intend on doing that?” She asked.

“ We need to work together in order for that to happen” Ben replied and Polaris snorted angrily at him.

“ Seriously, us, work together? Call me Polaris, you’re sending me to hell…..not even in your wildest dreams” She scoffed.

“ Polaris I think that right now we should set our difference aside and escape from this place. This is our only opportunity” Ben said.

“ Spare me the lectures” Polaris hissed and Ben was already getting annoyed.

“ Seriously Polaris, what is wrong with you?” He half yelled.

“ Are you willing to put the life of your unborn child at stake just because of your hatred. At least if not for the yourself, do it for your baby” He added, making Polaris let out an angry and frustrating groan.

Ben was right. Even if she hated him but her babies life is more important, she can’t risk it.

“ Fine. What’s your plan?” She asked with a hiss.

“ Luckily, I have the key to release the collar by your neck” Ben said.

“ Wow, how did you get that?” Polaris asked, surprised.

“ Duh, I was once a Sentinel. Thank goodness I brought it with me anywhere I go. Now all you have to do is let me release the bound” Ben replied and she nodded. Squatting to knee length, she gave Ben the opportunity to insert the key to the rightful place.

The inhibitor split open and Polaris yanked it off her neck.

“ Finally…freedom” She groaned.

“ Not yet till we’re out of here” Ben corrected.

“ Quick, release Autumn” He added and Polaris inserted the key and the inhibitor on Autumn’s neck split open too and she yanked it off.

“ Perfect. Now time for ac……..

“ I know what to do” Polaris cut in immediately.

She closed her eyes, extended her hand and opening her palms wide. A green flame emitted from her finger. Immediately the door of the truck which was like a cell bar started ripping apart.

She was using her Magnetokinesis (the ability to manipulate various type of magnetism) to rip the metal bar apart and drawing it towards her like a magnet will do.

Whenever the ripped metal made to hit her, she will Ferrokinetically halt the metal in the midair, sending it back. Soon the truck was wide open for then to step out.

Immediately they stepped their foot on the ground, they were surrounded by Sentinel officers, pointing a gun at them..

Seeing his father surrounded, Hudson rushed out of the warehouse with Alvara behind him. He got to where the Sentinel were and stopped, his anger boiling.

“ Stay away from them!” He growled, sending a strong wave which almost blew everything up in the air. This served as a distraction, giving the latter ( Polaris, Ben and Autumn) the opportunity to escape.

“ Go” Polaris said and they all made to run but was halted when more groups of Sentinel officers surrounds them. They all stepped back, including Hudson and Alvara.

The Sentinel ranging to hundreds surrounded them in a circle with them trapped in the middle, their heart beating hard against their chest.

“ This is an order from the commander;

“ SHOOT-TO-KILL………..
