CHAPTER 08

“This is an order from the commander……SHOOT-TO-KILL” Lucan announced and all the cops started firing at them.

Many bullets flew towards Polaris but using her Ferromagnetism, she halted the bullet’s midair with a smirk on her face.

“ Go to hell” She grinned, sending the bullet’s back to the cops and they all dropped dead to the floor.

Autumn, using her Atmokinesis ( Ability to control the elemental forces that preside over weather,), created a strong tornado, sending half of the Sentinels far away to an unknown destination.

While Hudson and Alvara together using their Telekinesis ( ability to move objects or matter using one’s mind), sent all the car flying to the air, ripped them apart.

Alvara, using her telekinesis, grabbed a rope and tied up the remaining Sentinels, sending them flying off to God knows where.

Ben on the other hand did nothing apart from watching in awe and dismay, his jaw dropped.

“ That was easy” They all said, dusting off an imaginary dirt off their palms.

“ Wow” Ben exclaimed when he couldn’t hold his awe anymore.

“ You guys were amazing, just kill me” He exclaimed

They all couldn’t help but shrug a bit, their shoulders up as they compliment themselves for a job well done.

“ I guess we should all head back” Alvara said and everyone nodded.

“ After you”

“ After you”

Ben led the way while the latter trailed behind.

On getting to the underground, they entered through the back door.

“ I was informed that the Sentinels already pass the border but they suddenly turned back. I don’t know why” A guy informed John, Leriel and Paisley.

“ Since they went back, we won’t be able to save Bernard nor Polaris talk more of Autumn” John sighed.

“ I wonder how Polaris is doing with the baby. I just hope she’s ok” Leriel said, running his hands through his hair.

“ Of course I’m perfectly fine, Leriel” A voice said.

“ I know you’ll say………… wait a minute” Leriel said and turned to the direction where the voice came from.

Standing before them was Ben, Polaris, Hudson, Alvara and Autumn. Their eyes widened in surprise and Leriel rushed to Polaris, pulling her to a tight hug.

“ Blink” Autumn called running towards Blink, who opened her arms wide in an embrace.

“ Are you ok? Did they harm you in anyway?” Leriel asked, scanning Polaris from head to toe.

“ Chill Leriel, one question at a time” Polaris chuckled. Leriel pulled her to another hug, placing a kiss on her neck

“ I was really worried about you and the baby. I was scared” He said.

“ I’m sorry I didn’t come to rescue you, I….

“ You don’t have to apologize Leriel, I know you tried your best” Polaris assured.

“ How were you guys able to escape? “ John asked, making Polaris break from the hug.

“ They helped us” Autumn said, pointing at Hudson and Alvara.

“ Yeah, they created a distraction, giving us the opportunity to escape” Polaris added.

“ Wow, I’m happy everybody is safe. Good job you two” John said referring to Hudson and Alvara.

“ You all should go fresh…….

“ What is he doing here? “ A feminine voice interrupted, prompting everyone to turn their heads to her direction.

Standing there was pale skinned young lady with a long red hair and green eyes.

“ Nova” John muttered and the lady approached. She turned to Ben, glaring at him disgust.

“ John, what is this prosecutor doing here? “ She asked, her gaze not leaving Ben.

“ Excuse me? “ Hudson cut in

“ Who is a prosecutor here?” He asked.

“ Erm.. Hudson, I think you and Alvara should head upstairs” Paisley said.

“ Why should they? Don’t you think he has the right to know who his father really is? “ Nova said.

“ Nova, we already talked ab this, right? “ John said, making her scoff.

“ Yeah, we have. Same old " let the past be in the past"  but I don’t think it has do with him. Having an intruder among us is not a thing of the past” Nova hissed.

“ Dad, why is she calling an intruder? " Hudson asked but was replied back with total silence from everyone.

“ What? Why are you all quiet? John, don’t you want to tell him? Oh no I think Paisley should or maybe Leriel, besides it’s his best friend we’re talking about here” Nova said sarcastically.

“ Nova…..

“ Ok. Well since nobody wants to speak, I think I should drop the bomb then” She added.

“ Well, boom Hudson, your father is a SENTINEL OFFICER and you know what that means, right? “ She asked and Hudson’s lips parted in shock.

“ What? “ He asked faintly, trying to digest what he just heard.

“ Is it true Dad? “ He asked and Ben looked down in shame. He knows his son will probably hate him by now.

“ It is the truth but kind of a lie too” Polaris replied instead, making Nova glare at her in surprise.

“ What do you mean by kind of a lie? “ She asked.

“ You saying Bernard is a Sentinel officer made it a lie” Polaris replied.

“ How is it a lie? Of course Bernard is a sen…. ..

“ Was a Sentinel but not anymore” Polaris corrected. Ben looked up, staring at her in surprise. Well everybody did. You won’t blame them, will you? They all knew how much hatred Polaris has for Ben but surprisingly, she’s standing up for him.

“ What difference does it make? “ Nova asked.

“ What difference does it make with the fact that you were once a thief but isn’t now? “ Polaris threw the question at her, making her roll her eyes angrily.

“ So you’re trying to say, he has changed? “ Nova asked.

“ Yes, exactly” Leriel cut on immediately.

“ Jeez, you all have lost it, I’m outta here” Nova spat in disbelief before rushing out.

Hudson headed upstairs immediately, still trying to digest what he just heard.

“ I think you should go talk to Hudson” Paisley said and Ben nodded. Turning his head to Polaris whose facial expression was blank, a faint smile creep up his lips.

“ Thank you Polaris you de…….

“ Keep your thanks to yourself. I only said what the truth is but don’t misunderstand it as me having a soft spot on you. Just so you’ll know… I STILL HATE YOU” Polaris cut him off, stressing the last part and Ben nodded slightly.

“ I’ll keep that in mind” He said and left, heading upstairs.

He saw Hudson in a room which he presumed to be his and entered.

“ Son” He called gently.

“ Why did you join the Sentinels, dad? “ Hudson asked immediately. Letting out a sad sigh, Ben approached and sat beside him on the bed.

“ Cause of your Mom” Ben replied and Hudson looked at him.

“ Why cause of her?” He asked as his teary eyes started clearing off.

“ I wanted to get justice for your Mom. I wanted to put her murderer behind bars” Ben replied in a sad tone.

“ But I thought you said Mom died in an accident 6yrs ago” Hudson implied.

“ Yes but it wasn’t just a mere accident. 6yrs ago when the mutants were having a peaceful protest, the cameras suddenly went off and series of gunshot was heard. It turned out the Sentinels were attacking the mutants, killing many of them and in the process your Mom got shot. At first I thought she was shot by a mutant but it turned out it was Sentinel who killed her” Ben explained.

“ I’m sorry I hid something like that from you son, I’m really sorry. And you have every right to be annoyed with me and hate me eventually, I…….

“ What if I don’t hate you?” Hudson asked, looking at Ben with all sincerity in his eyes. Ben hugged him immediately.

“ Thank you so much son, I love you” Ben said in happiness.

SOMEWHERE UNKNOWN

“ Boss, they escaped and returned to the underground” A guy whose face wasn’t seen said standing before a lady who was seated on a chair, making it look like she was seated on her throne.

The lady was an African- American, with a slim feminine figure. She has a dark brown eyes and a black hair which was braided in a Mohawk- ponytail.

“ Interesting.. how were they able to do that?” She asked, rubbing an imaginary bear on her chin.

“ By the help of two unfamiliar teenage mutant. They are new actually” The guy replied, making the lady nod.

“ Ok. You can leave” She said and the guy bowed before leaving.

“ Seriously Madelyn, you claim to be the greatest but couldn’t carry out a task in which two mere teenagers did” A deep voice echoed the room.

Madelyn titled her head to were the voice came from and a smirk formed on her lips. Before her was a tall and lean man with a pale like complexion, a dark and short hair.

“ Oh, Carter, I even forgot you were here” She said standing to her feet.

“ You didn’t fulfil your promise, you know that” Carter said.

“ Shouldn’t you be happy that Polaris is safe, so getting her won’t be a problem” Madelyn replied.

“ I trusted the rescue to be done by you not some random kids” Carter said.

“ Like I said Carter, it doesn’t matter who did the rescuing, they already made everything easier for me” Madelyn replied with a grin.

“ That’s all you say but never stick to your words” Carter hissed but regretted letting the word spill out of his mouth as Madelyn shot him a dangerous and deadly, knee wobbling glare.

“ I’m so…….. “ She didn’t let him finish his words when she stretched out her arm, it wasn’t a human arm, a robotic arm instead. The arm elasticated and grabbed Carter by the neck as it’s sharp claws dug inside his neck.

Carter let out a painful groan as blood roll down his neck.

“ Maybe you seem to have forgotten who the boss is but I’ll gladly remind you that I am” Madelyn growled as her eyes suddenly turned red.

She jerked Carter who was struggling for breath off the floor, leaving his leg staggering to break free.

“ And when I set out to do something, then I’ll do it. Tell me then, what gave you the right and morale to raise a voice at me? “ Madelyn asked and Carter made to speak but let out a painful groan instead as the claws of the robotic arm dug deeper into his neck.

“ You know I can decide to kill you right this minute, right? “ Madelyn asked, tightening her grip on Carter’s neck.

“ But I won’t “ She said letting go of Carter who fell with a loud thud on the floor, coughing out blood nonstop.

“ Stop acting like you’ll die any soon. What made you think I’ll kill you at the first place? Your wound will heal in no time. Oh looks like I forgot, you don’t possess that power, do you?” She asked squatting to his level. She grabbed his chin, titling his head up.

“ But not you worry, I’ll send experts who will heal your wound and if they can’t do that, I’ll kill them myself. You know you’re of great importance to me but bear on thing in mind” She said gripping harder on Carter’s check which was gradually getting swollen.

“ If not for the fact that Polaris is someone close to you, I wouldn’t have spared her but because of you, I won’t harm her so she’s safe but……… Don’t try shit with me or else I turn you to shit itself” She growled in anger.

“ Get that?” She asked with a fake smile and Carter nodded as she let go of his chin, getting up.

“ Now be a good boy and run along. Go, go” She said shoving him away with her fingers. Carter stood up weakly, blood still flowing from his neck. He shot Madelyn one last resentful look before leaving.

Madelyn walked over to her throne, sitting elegantly on it with crossed knees.

“ Polaris, Polaris, Polaris” She called, nodding pitifully.

“ You have only but 2 options, join the deal or experience what I term HELL DEATH……..
