CHAPTER 37

A knock came on Morgan's door and she headed to answer it. A sincere broad smile formed on her lips on who she saw.

" You two are back?" She chuckled slightly, opening the door wider for the two to step in.

" Welcome back Hudson and Alvara" She added, shutting the door close before turning to the duo who slumped to the couch.

" We have never been so happy seeing your face again" They breathed out.

Morgan served some dishes to Hudson and Alvara who already had a nice hot bath. She paid attention as the two narrated their journey to her.

" How do you feel after coming back?" She asked. Hudson and Alvara both chuckled at the same time.

" Refreshed...and proud" They both answered.

" That was literally the best adventure in my life" Alvara address.

" Especially the part where you cried thinking I was dead" Hudson teased making Alvara glare at him.

"Shut up!" She snapped

" And about your Dad?" The smile on the duo's face died down immediately and a painful scoff left Alvara's lips.

" Well...even though I didn't meet him like expected...at least I can stop worrying knowing what happened to him" She smiled faintly.

" You knew about from the beginning right?" She asked Morgan who nodded. Hudson dropped his spoon immediately.

" If you knew about all these, then why send us to the cave at the first place?" He asked.

" Well, solemnly because you wouldn't have believed me if you didn't see it yourself and so the both of you can resolve your issues with each other" Morgan reply.

" You won't deny it really did work" She smirked and Hudson and Alvara smiled at each other m

" Yeah it did work" They both muttered before facing their food. Morgan couldn't help but chuckle happily.

After having their dinner, the two headed back to their rooms. Alvara decided to go outside.

" Hey" A voice called and she looked up to see Hudson standing before her. She was sitting on a bench she saw outside.

" Hey" Hudson sat beside her.

" What are thinking about?" He asked.

" I'm thinking about how possible it was for us to spend 3 days in that Cavs without even feeling sleepy for a second" Alvara scoffed.

" Maybe because we were too excited that we didn't even think of sleeping" Hudson said.

" Yeah. I agree with you"

" I wonder have everyone have been doing, I'm sure they must be dead worried about us" Hudson huffed.

" I'm sure they're ok" Alvara shrugged.

An awkward silence fell among them.

" You know, I kinda realize something" Hudson broke the silence and Alvara turned to look at him and their eyes locked.

" What?"

" It's not that bad both of us working together you know" Alvara let out a slight laugh.

" Let me not tell a lie but...you're right" She replied.

" You make a really great team mate and I must admit...you're not that bad after all" She added. Hudson looked away as his cheeks flushed.

" Wait...are you blushing?" Alvara stared at him and her cheeks heated up too.

" No I'm not" Hudson defended immediately and Alvara bursted to laughter.

" I can't believe you're blushing" She said amidst laughter.

" You too, you're blushing" Hudson replied, joining her in her laughter.

" So...

" We're friends?" Hudson asked as their laughter died down. Alvara raised a brow at him.

" Friends" She finally said, claiming his hand in a shake, a smile plastered on her face. Seeing her smile made Hudson smile too.

THE NEXT DAY

" How is Eclipse doing?" Ben asked as John approached. John let out a sad sigh.

" He already agreed to eat but he won't stop staring at Polaris' picture" He replied.

" Things are really going the wrong way this time around. First...it was Hudson and Alvara and now Polaris too. It's just as if the Underground is gradually falling apart" John added, bowing his head in sadness.

" I'm sure everything will be already. Polaris will come back and as for Hudson and Alvara...I don't know where they are...

" We're right here" Two voices chorused, prompting John and Ben to turn to the direction where the voice came from. Their pupils dilated on seeing Hudson and Alvara smiling broadly at them.

" Where the fuck have you two been?" Ben half yelled as he and John approached them.

" We went on a journey, no...actually...an adventure" Hudson answered smiling at Alvara who smiled back at him.

" Ok, weird but you two better tell me what is going on here and what adventure are you talking about?" Ben glared suspiciously at the two of them. Well you won't blame him, will you?

The normal Hudson and Alvara they knew won't even look at each other apart from when they're having an argument.

" Well, Hudson and I are friends now" Alvara revealed. Ben and John's eyes widened even the more.

" You've got to be kidding me" Ben scoffing.

" Ok, in as much as I want the both of you to make up...this is really creeping me out" John spoke up making the duo let out a slight laugh.

" Alvara is right Dad...we're friends now" Hudson backed up.

" Wow...impressive!" Ben and John exclaimed.

" What's going on here?" Blink asked but stopped on her track on seeing Hudson and Alvara.

" You two slackers, where have you been?" She asked approaching.

" We would love to hear about this adventure of yours that suddenly turned your both friends" Ben said and Blink glared at him in confusion.

" Ok, someone tell me what's going on here" She demanded.

" Alvara and Hudson are friends now...that's what going on" John answered.

" You've got to be kidding me" Blink scoffed.

" And I said exactly that" Ben muttered.

" You know what.. it's a long story guys" Hudson replied.

" We want to here all of it and...we don't want you to cut it shut" Blink pointed out.

" Fine, fine. Grab your seats and popcorn then, cause it is a really long story...

Maverick quickly rushed into Hudson and Alvara's room and on seeing Alvara, he quickly rushed to her, pulling her to a bone crushing hug, much to Alvara's surprise. Hudson who was sitting on his bed scoffed immediately.

" Impressive. Just barged in and pulled her to a hug, what an amazing friend he is" He huffed angrily rolling his eyes. He let out a slight cough making Maverick pull out from the hug.

" For Christ sake, where have you been Alvara?" Maverick asked.

" I was dead worried about you...I thought the Sentinels where holding you hostage" He rasped.

" You don't have to worry Maverick, nothing like that happened. We're perfectly fine" Alvara assured.

" Thanks heavens" Maverick heaved a relief.

" But where were you?" He asked.

" It's a really long story. So how about you head to the garden, I'll come join you later and then tell you everything, huh?" Alvara suggested and Maverick nodded.

"Ok. I'd you said so" He said and Hudson was already smirking happily.

" I'll be waiting for you" He said, heading to the door but stopped and turned.

" Happy to see you again Hudson" He added making Hudson roll his eyes.

"Not happy a bit to see you" He muttered under his breath but Alvara heard him. He forced a smile up his lips.

" Happy to see you again" Hudson replied and Maverick left. Alvara turned to face him, with folded arms.

" What?" Hudson raised brow at her

" Seriously Hudson? Why do you hate the poor guy?" Alvara asked.

" Point of correction...I don't hate him. Just that I don't like him" Hudson pointed out making Alvara roll her eyes.

" Anyways, I'm heading to check on Eclipse...you're coming?" He asked.

" I'll...join you soon" Alvara replied and Hudson left. Immediately he left, Alvara spotted the two scrolls on his bed. Heading to Hudson's bed, she grabbed them. Opening the first scroll, it reads;

" To my baby girl Alvara;

" This is the second letter I'll be writing to you. I just want to clarify you of something. Most mutants think the Brotherhood was killed during the war between the Fenris Twins and you might grow up with that thinking too but that isn't the case. Here's what happened exactly;

After the war broke out between the Fenris Twins, the Brotherhood ended up loosing their powers due to the out blast. But, we all went into hiding. 12 years later, after learning of the fight between the Sentinels and mutants, we all decided to head back to our various homes. I don't know how the Sentinels were able to track us down but we got captured.

Due to our powers wasn't with us anymore, they were able to kill almost all of us, with only me and Morgan escaping. We took shelter in the cave but due to I was badly injured, I don't know if I'll be able to survive it, I told Morgan to head back home.

I don't know how long long I will live but I just want you know in this letter, that the mastermind behind the death of all the members of the Brotherhood ...we're the Sentinels and I can vividly remember the name and face of the Sentinel officer in charge then. His name is none other than...

Alvara quickly opened the second scroll, her hands trembling while she did so. Her eyes widened in horror on seeing the sketched picture of the so called Sentinel officer. Then under it was written the name boldly...
