Chapter 32: Chapter 32

CHAPTER 32

" Who dare disturb my exquisite peace with their presence?" A thunderous voice echoed the cave. Fear gripped Hudson and Alvara immediately.

" What was that?" Hudson rasped, looking around, his hand in fist...ready for action. He dropped the backpack on the floor immediately.

" I think there's a spirit here" Alvara whispered.

" THERE ARE NO SPIRITS HERE!" The voice boomed again. The duo swallowed hard, backing each other, their eyes rooming around. Finally mustering the courage, Alvara spoke up,

" Who are you?" She asked.

" Show us your face" Hudson backed her up.

" I am right before you...but you just don't see" The voice echoed a reply.

" Turn to your right?" The voice commanded. Hudson and Alvara both turned to their right only to see nothing except the statue of the eagle on the wall. A frown formed on Hudson's face staring at the eagle.

" Wait. Don't tell that eagle is talking" He scoffed and Alvara glared at him.

" Are you seriously kidding me Hudson...a statue talking?" She folded her arms.

" Well don't blame me. That statue is the only thing on our right apart from these doors" Hudson shrugged.

" But how can I statue be talking?" Alvara asked.

" It's among the mysteries of life" The voice answered. Alvara's eyes widened in shock on seeing the eagles mouth move when the voice answered hwe question.

" No...no...no. That statue can't possibly talking" She scoffed in disbelief.

" Well...it is" Hudson whispered to her.

" But how can I statue be talking?!" Alvara yelled asked.

" SILENT!" The thunderous voice boomed and Alvara and Hudson sealed their lol shut.

" What are the both of you doing here?" The voice asked.

" We're here on a quest" Hudson answered.

" Which quest in particular; finding the brotherhood?" The voice questioned and the duo's eyes widened in surprise.

" How did you know?" Hudson asked.

" What else could it possibly be?" The voice scoffed.

" Are the Brotherhood really here?" Alvara asked, her eyes glittering in hope and happiness.

" I hate giving a reply twice!" The voice thundered making Alvara and Hudson roll their eyes.

" Fine. We're here for them" Hudson answered. A mocking laughter echoed the whole cave.

" And you two think you can do it?" The voice asked still laughing.

" Yes. We've already gone far" Hudson replied confidently. Another round of laughter filled the cave. Alvara's blood was already boiling in anger.

" You inexperienced brats!" The voice mocked.

" Are you aware of what you're seeking for?" The voice asked.

" You're wishing death upon yourself!"

" If I were you both, I'll turn and go home" Hudson glared angrily at the eagle.

" We've already gone this far to turn back" He replied.

" Don't you understand what I mean by you're gonna loose your life, you inexperienced brats?!" The voice snapped angrily.

" Listen hair brained eagle" Alvara snapped when she couldn't bear listening to the eagles ranting.

" If you think we came this here to joke around then you must be dump. We know why we're here and ain't backing out...

" We don't give a damn Fuck about your threats. So just tell us the next step and shut your mouth-hole" Alvara snapped and Hudson quickly pressed his lips together to suppress his laughter.

" Fine. Here's the next step" The voice began.

" As you can see...there are generally 12 doors surrounding you. But only one door can lead you to what you're looking for. Now you two will have to find the right door...but...

" Bear this one rule in mind. If you open the wrong door...believe me when I say...you're gonna die. You see that crossbow at the middle of these doors?...

" Anytime you open the wrong door, three arrows will stab whoever is it that opened the wrong door" The voice revealed.

The duo swallowed hard, staring at the door surrounding them.

" So you accept the obstacle?" The voice asked. Hudson and Alvara stared at each other before turning to the eagle.

" How can we identify the right door then?" Alvara asked.

" That...I'm not telling I" The voice replied plainly.

" So you're in?" It asked again. Looking at each other, the duo gave each other a reassuring smile before,

" We're more than in" They chorused in determination.

" Fine then...you have it" The voice said.

" Hudson you heard to the last six doors in this row while I'll start from the first six" Alvara instructed and Hudson complied.

Staring at the first door, Alvara's instinct started pointing to her that it was the right door but she didn't have the courage it. She stared intently at it, trying to see if there's any sign indicating it was the right door

" Hudson, I think I found the right door" Alvara finally shouted out to Hudson who turned.

" Really?" He beamed.

" How were you able to figure it out?" He asked.

" My instinct keeps on bugging me that this is the right door" Alvara replied and Hudson's beam died down.

" No Alvara...no. This is seriously not the right time to follow your instinct. You can't just open any door because you feel it is right" Hudson objected.

" But my instinct...

" You instinct can be wrong Alvara...wrong" Hudson cut her off.

" But my instinct are never wrong"

" This isn't the matter of instinct...this is a matter of your life and my life. A single mistake...then we're done for so please don't open nay door" Hudson insisted.

" Fine, whatever" Alvara shrugged, stepping over to the second door. Hudson turned back to observe the doors.

When Alvara couldn't beat her instinct bugging her to open the first door, she stepping back to it.

" Sorry but I've got to open you" She muttered before placing her on the door. The door knob twisted on its own before slowly opening. Hudson turned immediately I heading the sound of the door.

" The fuck have you done Alvara?" He yelled out.

" I'm sorry but I had to open it" Alvara yelled back.

" Damn it!" Hudson's eyes widened on noticing something. There was a wire connecting the door Alvara opened to the crossbow behind them. And as the door slowly opens, the crossbow was turning to the direction of the door.

Immediately the door opened fully, the arrows in the crossbow went loose. Seeing as the arrows where aiming straight at Alvara's back,

" Alvara!" He called, running swiftly towards her. Alvara made to turn but hugged her turning his own back to towards the direction of the arrow. Just then, 3 arrows pierced into his back and he went stiff immediately. Alvara's eyes widened.

" Hudson" She called and a strand of tear rolled down Hudson's cheek. He slowly closed his eyes, relaxing his head fully on Alvara's shoulder before passing out...
