Chapter 29: Chapter 29

CHAPTER 29

Standing before Alvara and Hudson was a statue of a man playing a flute, with a snake crawled around his neck. According to the statue, the man was naked with only the small part of the snake covering his forbidden area. And right on top of the statue was…

“ Aragonite crystals” Hudson and Alvara exclaimed in awe, their eyes widened like they’ve been hypnotized.

The two slowly approached the statue to get a clearer view of the crystal. Alvara stretched out her hand to touch the crystal bit Hudson slapped her hand off.

“ What are you trying to do?” He glared at her.

“ Trying to feel this beautiful before me of course” Alvara hissed.

“ Trying to feel it…really?” Hudson raised a brow at her.

“ And of course take it…duh, who doesn’t know that?” Alvara rolled her eyes.

“ Don’t you watch movies?” Hudson asked making Alvara frown at him in confusion.

“ I still don’t get what you’re trying to emphasize, dude” She snorted.

“ Jeez…are you this dumb?” Hudson nodded in pity.

“ Take a look around Alvara. Everywhere is clear with only this statue and crystal in view. Do you think taking it is as easy as it seems?” Hudson hinted but Alvara just stared blankly at him. One not need to be told that Hudson is speaking total gibberish to her.

“ You still don’t understand what I’m trying to emphasize, right?” Hudson asked on seeing how blankly she was staring at him.

“ Yep” She replied.

“ Think Alvara!” Hudson groaned and a gasp escaped Alvara’s lips just then.

“ Wait…wait…wait, hold it. Are you trying to say or will say emphasize that…if I eventually take this crystals…which I will, some weird, hidden booby trap will pop out of no where and trap us…just like they do in movies?” She analyzed and Hudson nodded firmly.

Alvara bursted to a hectic laughter , making Hudson frown at her.

“ Are you serious kidding me?” She exclaimed still laughing.

“ Ok…tell me what’s funny here” Hudson inquired and she stopped laughing.

“ You know what dude…you watch a lot of movie and it’s getting into your brain” She ruffled Hudson’s hair, placing her hand on his shoulder but Hudson shrugged it off.

“ Well…” Alvara breathed in.

“ I’m still taking the crystal” She said sharply, grabbing the crystal before Hudson could stop her.

“ What the fuck have you done?” Hudson half yelled at her.

“ Chill scare crow…nothing happened…see” Alvara pointed out.

“ We are as safe as a…” The ground vibrated just then, cutting Alvara off. Hudson glared at her immediately.

“ What was that?” He asked as the vibration stopped.

“ I’m sure it’s nothing…see the vibration stopped” Alvara chuckled lightly.

Just then, nature proved her wrong as the ground started vibrating again but this time around, the walls did too.

“ Ok…I didn’t see that coming” Alvara muttered, holding on to the statue so she won’t slump to the floor.

“ I told you not to touch the crystal!” Hudson snapped stepping back from the statue. He noticed that the area where the statue was, was starting to crack and so was the statue.

“ Erm…Alvara…

“ Ok fine…I know what you want to you” Alvara cut him off

“ You were right and I was wrong, bla, bla, bla, yeah I know. You don’t have to say it” Alvara blabbered.

Hudson swallowed nervously as hot heat ran down him. Alvara herself didn’t even notice what was going on.

“ Erm…Alvara…if I were you…I will step away from that statue cause it’s about to was …

“ What are you blabbering Hudson and why are you stepping away from her statue. Wait…don’t tell you’re planning on leaving me…

“ Alvara!” Hudson yelled as the ground surrounding statue and it’s pavement cracked open and the statue almost sank into the ground.

“ Alvara!” Hudson yelled out again, running towards the statue as it sinks in the more. Fear gripped both him and Alvara but Alvara tried climbing to the head of the statue which only sink in the more.

“ Alvara grab my hands” Hudson yelled out to her and Alvara stretched out her hand to grab his. Hudson’s hands was trembling and so was his lips. The taught of Alvara getting buried to the ground, made his heart skip in fear.

Seeing she was far from his hold, Hudson laid with his stomach on the floor, stretching out his two arms this time around.

“ Alvara, try holding on to my hand…please” He pleaded. Alvara on the hand was struggling to stand on her feet before stretching her hands out to Hudson but the sinking statue wasn’t making matters better.

For the first time in their life, Hudson and Alvara felt real fear. Alvara’s fear was she was gonna die while that of Hudson was the fear of losing Alvara.

Finally climbing on to the head of the statue, Alvara stretched out her hand and Hudson tried grabbing it. Just when the statue sank fully into the ground, Hudson grabbed Alvara’s hand.

“ Gotcha” He exclaimed before pulling her up. He pulled her to a tight hug and Alvara hugged him back too

“ Thank goodness you’re ok” Hudson heaved, hugging her more tightly.

“ I thought I was gonna loose you today” He blurted out even before realizing what he just said. Alvara’s eye widened a bit and she pulled out, staring at him. Hudson looked away in embarrassment.

“ I mean .. you’re ok, right?” He shuttered, scratching the back of his neck.

“ Yeah, I’m ok” Alvara muttered.

“ Heavens, I thought I was gonna die” She heaved a relief. Hudson snorted just then.

“ I warned you and warned you but you couldn’t when listen to me” He scoffed.

“ Yeah fine, whatever. You tried warning me but I didn’t pay attention…kill me then” Alvara hissed with an eye roll.

“ Hey…hey…hey…hold you with your attitude…I saved you life” Hudson snapped.

“ Oh ple…eease. It’s not as of you just did something no one has ever done on history. I owe you nothing” Alvara rolled her eyes.

“ What?” Hudson muttered faintly, his lips parted in shock.

“ Are you aware I just saved your life?” He asked in disbelief.

“ Isn’t it obvious? Still…I owe you nothing” Alvara shrugged.

“ You are unbelievable” Hudson exclaimed, throwing his hands up dramatically.

“ You went ahead I took that…stupid crystal which almost cost you your life, even after I warned you repeatedly and after saving…your life…you can’t even say a ‘thank you?” Hudson muttered in disbelief.

“ Can you quit pestering my life already?”

“ Besides…I still have the crystal with me…so quit talking” Alvara hissed, waving the crystal before him and putting it inside her backpack. Hudson glared at her angrily.

“ So can we continue our journey?” Hudson let out an obvious angry snort

“ And how are we gonna do that?”

“ You already destroyed our only means of crossing over to that door” Hudson said, pointing at a door at the other extreme of the roof.

“ Oh wait…I think we should fly over to the door or maybe disappear and appear right before it. That’s part of our power right?” He sassed making Alvara roll her eyes even the more. Turning to the left side of the room, her face beamed on seeing yet another tunnel.

“ Mr paranoya…how about you look over there” She said. Following the direction where she was pointing out, Hudson’s face dropped in disappointment. Alvara stepped closer to him before placing her hand on his shoulder.

“ There’s always an escape route, dude. Just try to tbe more optimistic” With that, she headed to the tunnel and Hudson followed her, mumbling words only him could understand.

Stepping into the hole, the two stopped on their track and their jaw dropped immediately.

“ Diamonds!” The both of them chorused at the same time. Yeah, different type and colors of diamonds can be seen each fixed in the walls and the ceiling of the tunnel, glittering their way through.

Stretching out their hands, the duo ran them through the diamonds to feel it.

“ This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen” The two mumbled. A diamond fell off the ceiling and Alvara caught it right on time. Bringing it closer to look at it, a ‘wow’ escaped her lips.

“ I am definitely taking this” She chortled, opening he outer pocket in her backpack, putting the diamond inside

“Hold your horses…don’t tell me you’re gonna start stealing these diamonds” Hudson asked with folded arms.

“ Is that a question dude. Of course I am” Alvara chuckled, making Hudson groan slightly.

“ Don’t you learn Alvara?” He asked.

Please…don’t tell me this tunnel is gonna collapse like he other one and and up burying us inside” Alvara drawled.

“ Of course it will…don’t you watch movies?” Hudson half yelled.

“ Movies are getting into your head dude…snap it out” Alvara snapped at him.

“ Do you know how much we’re gonna make by selling just one of these, huh?” She threw the question at Hudson who just rolled his eyes.

“ Thousands baby…thousands” She answered the question herself.

“ And if we gather many of them, we’ll turn to billionaires, dude…don’t you get it?” She half yelled, shaking Hudson vigorously, maybe trying to see if her point was making sense to him

Hudson grabbed her on the shoulder, making her stand still and staring intently at her.

“ WE’RE GONNA DIE…
