Chapter 28: Chapter 28
CHAPTER 28
Madelyn, the Frost Sisters, Carter and Liz were all seated in a conference room, looking over the door like they were expecting someone to walk in. The door of the room finally opened, revealing who they all were waiting for.
“ Sorry I’m late Boss. Has to look for a way to sneak out without being caught” The person which turned out to be a guy explained. He face wasn’t visible.
“ Sure…take a seat” Madelyn hummed a reply and the guy complied.
“ Well since he is here already…shall we begin the meeting?” She added.
“ Hold on Madelyn. We don’t even know what this meeting is all about” Liz spoke up.
“ Dis I forget to mention it to you all…my manners” Madelyn chuckled slightly.
“ Well, I gathered you all here to inquire how far each one of you have gone on your mission” She continued.
“ Starting from you Liz. Tell me, what’s still holding the machine I demanded from you?” She questioned, looking over to Liz.
“ It’s not just any type of machine. It will take some time but be assured…it will be ready soon” Liz answered and Madelyn nodded in satisfaction.
“ And over to you Jade. How is Polaris doing?” She asking.
“ Our hard work js soon gonna pay off. I already informed her about Lucan and she is ever ready to great a disastrous disaster” Jade grinned evilly.
“ Now that’s the type of remake I love to hear” Madelyn grinned along with her. The grin on her face vanished immediately as she looked over to the guy.
“ And you?” She asked.
“ I’ve gotten them two to love me. Creating a rift between them…definitely won’t be a problem. Besides, none of them knows I work for the Innercircle” The guy smirked.
“ That’s also a good remark” Madelyn nodding.
“ Well this all shows that thing are going according to plan. Kudos to all of ya” She complimented.
“ Anyways…I’ll like to have some private time with my spy, you all can leave now” She added and everyone stood up, heading out till it was only Madelyn and the guy.
“ Tell me the current situation of the Underground” She demanded almost immediately.
“ Right now, they’re bankrupt but Alvara helped out. But the money she provided will only last for about 4 months…if I estimated properly” The guy explained.
“ And the two Fenris Fools?” Madelyn asked.
“ As of now…there whereabouts is unknown. They’ve been missing since today” The guy replied and Madelyn glared at him.
“ What do you mean they’re no where to be found, where might they have gone?” She asked sharply.
“ They didn’t inform me about where they were heading to. It’s obvious I don’t know” The guy shrugged.
“ Don’t tell me that!” Madelyn flared up at him.
“ Your duty is to keep an eye one them…always”
“ But I seriously don’t know where they might have gone Mom, I’ve tried looking for them” The guy replied.
“ I’m sure they didn’t go to the unknown…so find them!” Madelyn snapped.
“ I’ll try Mom. I ain’t no prophet or seer” The guy hissed.
×. ×. ×
Trekking through hips of sand, Hudson and Alvara got to a river which they have to pass through in other to continue their journey. They were using the map Morgan gave then which did a great job in guiding them.
Luckily for them, there were rocks lined up in form of a passage way in which they both climbed on to cross over. Finally getting to the cave, they both pulled a brake on their legs, their hands on their waist as the examined the outside of the cave.
The sound of birds whistling in tree’s around the cave, that the of the wind hitting the stones, that of cricket chipping and the dead leaves falling from the tree’s which already littered around.
“ Wow, we’re finally here” Alvara heaved, panting.
“ It looks pretty cool to me on the outside” Hudson spoke up. They were right at the entrance of the cave.
“ Well, let’s see how it is on the inside” Alvara said. As their foot stepped into the cave, darkness overwhelmed them and they were greeted by bats flying around.
“ Ok, here is too dark” Alvara muttered and quickly brought out the phone, turning on the touch. They both continue with Hudson in the front until he bumped his head on something.
“ Ouch” He whimpered, prompting both of them to stop.
“ What was that? “ Alvara asked sharply and Hudson stepped back so she could see what he bumped in to.
It turned out that they were both now before a tunnel with a small opening in which it will be somehow impossible for them to pass through.
“ Ok, how are we passing through that tiny hole? “ Hudson asked, still massaging the bump on his forehead.
“ Simple, we crawl through it” Alvara replied, kneeling before the hole.
“ Erm… isn’t that a bad idea? “ Hudson kicked against what Alvara said.
“ No. I’ll try first” Alvara replied plainly before lying with her belly on the floor. Using her elbows as her leg, she slowly crawled inside the tunnel, just like a snake does. Her phone was in her right hand, its touch shinning through the darkness of the tunnel.
“ See, it worked” She half yelled to Hudson, who was still outside but was able to hear her due to her voice echoing through.
“ Ok, I’m coming” He answered, lying with him belly and crawling in like Alvara did.
“ Eww… this place smells horrible, I think I’m gonna puke” Hudson remarked, crawling beside Alvara.
“ Yeah it does. Smells exactly like a slimy lichen mixed with animal feces ” Alvara supported.
Hudson yelled out immediately on seeing a millipede and centipede crawl pass him. As a result he ended up bumping his head on the low ceiling of the tunnel. A wimp escaped his lips again.
“ Ok what’s with the scream now? “ Alvara rolled her eyes still crawling. Hudson was actually behind her now.
“ I accidentally saw a millipede crawl pass me” Hudson replied, making Alvara let out a slight laugh.
“ Hey what’s with the laugh? “ Hudson frowned at her
“ Daddy’s boy never told be he was scared of insects” Alvara mocked.
“ Hey… hold it, I wasn’t scared. It just crawled pass me and I wasn’t expecting… ouch! “ Hudson tried defending but ended bumping his head on the law ceiling again.
“ Just admit it…you have insectiphobia “ Alvara hissed.
“ I said I wasn’t scared of…ouch!” Hudson bumped his head yet again.
“ Then why did you scream like a chicken?” Alvara grimaced.
“ I didn’t scream like a…oouch!” He bumped his head yet again.
“ Why does this tunnel hate me” He sniveled making Alvara let out a chuckle.
“ Don’t worry, we’re almost at the end” Alvara announced and Hudson looked up. His eyes flashed in hope as they both increased their pace. Soon, they both crawled out of the tunnel stepping in fully into the cave.
Their once near clothes were already covered in dirt and they both tried dusting off the dirt. Finally looking up, their eyes widened followed by their jaw’s dropping open.
“ Wow” They both mouthed in awe.
Right before them formations called ' speleothem’s’ drooping from the ceiling like ICICLES, emerging from the ground like Mushrooms and covering the sides of the cave like sheets of WATERFALL. The Icicle- shaped formations called ' STALACTITES', forming a water drip from the roof and another growing up from the floor(STALAGMITES) both joined together to form a very strong pillar.
Sheets of CALCITE can be seen growing on the cave wall and on the floor ( FLOWSTONE). Some of the Stalactites took a form DRAPERIES ( Like a curtain) and SODA STRAWS. And some twisty shapes called HELICITITES wrapped in all directions of the cave, from the ceiling, walls and floor.
The two teenagers could feel their heads twisting in awe and shock.
“ This…is…amazing!!” The both exclaimed loudly when the couldn’t hold it back anymore. They were over mesmerized, that they forgot this was a cave and that their high pitch scream which echoed everywhere, can send out a strong wave. Their exclamation hit the walls of the cave, thereby creating a lot of vibrations and just then the walls started cracking.
They both held on to each other so they won’t slump to the ground which was vibrating and shaking vigorously. Their minds went back to the first time they both realized their powers and it was if the same thing that happened that day…was going to happen again.
“ What is going on?” They both shuttered holding tight to each other.
The cracked stone holding the base of the Stalactites ended up breaking and they all started falling off the ceiling and stunning to the ground. The DRAPERIES too started its own cracking and was soon succumbing to the ground, causing a huge particle of dust to cover Hudson and Alvara.
They both started caught uncontrollably due to inhaling the dust.
“ We need to get the fuck out of here” Alvara yelled out to Hudson as it would be impossible for him to hear her due to the massive vibration, the falling off of Stalactites and the collapsing of the draperies, soda straw and helicitites.
“ Where to?” Hudson yelled asked, both of them tried dodging being stun to the ground by the Stalactites.
Looking over, Alvara saw another tunnel which was at the other side of the room, making kinda impossible for them to cross over to it.
“ There’s an opening at the other end of them too, we just have to make to that hole before it gets covered up by Stalactites” She yelled explained to Hudson who nodded as an idea hit his head.
“ Follow me” He voiced, grabbing Alvara’s wrist. It was risky because they had to manoeuver their pass the collapsing speleothem’s. Using her molecular shield power, Alvara was able to create a strong and big bubble which served as a shields.
Almost getting to the other side, the strong pillar collapsed and almost fell on Alvara but Hudson turning and seeing it on time, pulled Alvara to himself and the pillar ended up falling beside them.
“ Are you ok?” He asked as their eyes locked and Alvara nodded.
“ Let’s go” Hudson said and they both continued. Just when the mouth of the tunnel was about being closed up, Hudson and Alvara slipped their way inside and the hole was closed up with Stalactites.
“ We did it!” The two teenagers cheered happily, almost hugging each other but stopped half way and stepped back instead.
“ That was close” Hudson heaved. Luckily the tunnel they were in wasn’t as dark and tiny as the first one, so they didn’t have to crawl their way through.
“ Shall we continue?” Alvara asked.
“ Of course” Hudson replied and they continued their journey. Finally reaching the end of the tunnel and stepping out, they both were greatest by….
