Chapter 22: Chapter 22
Malinda POV.
I felt doctors roll me into the hospital, I opened my eyes momentarily and closed them again, I could hear a faint voice and could see a few white lights, then shortly everything went blank again and it all seemed like I was dead.
I opened my eyes again and my eyelashes fluttered, the first thing I saw was the colour of the room I lay, it was all white and so quiet and I turned my eyes to the left and saw someone standing by my side, his face was the normal way it has been, so furious and angry.
When I remembered the accident that had happened and that I was alive, I looked to my right, but there was no one else. "Russelli," I called out and sat up immediately as I could see the bruises on my body and my body ached too, but all that didn't matter as I turned to Mr Gilbert. "Sir, I have to see Russeli, Russeli!" I called out with tears in my eyes as I made a move to get up.
Bang! I was slapped across my face by his strong hand and it sting so much, I looked at Mr Gilbert and his eyes were cold and he looked so furious. "You still have the guts to say you want to see Russeli!"
I pressed my lips together, it hurts so much, but all I want to make sure of is if Russeli survived, the last I saw him, he was choking in his blood and his eyes were closed. "I have to see him, where is he?" I was no longer scared of what he would do to me.
"You killed my son!" His cold voice rang in my ear, making me freeze. "You!" His angry voice came again, but the shock I was in made me not react. "And you dare say you want to see him huh!" I looked up at him sceptically. "You want to see my son who you killed!" He shouted again and all I could do was shake my head.
"No... it can't be." I didn't know if it was to cry or laugh his words off, my head was in a daze as the accident kept playing in my head. "No, Russeli can't die...You are lying to me right now." I took away the injection from my hands, ready to go in search of him.
Bang! He slapped me again and this time I didn't know if it was my heart or my face that hurts. "Lying? Are you just happy that you killed my son with your careless love, or it is not registered in your mind yet!" He barked and I looked down, still shaking my head.
I never want to believe it, I didn't want to believe this, a knot rose in my heart and my heart crushed, my lips were dried and it was difficult to swallow. "Russeli is dead." A pain prickled my heart and I clenched to the bedsheet. "I just saw him not so long ago, he can't die."
You know that feeling you get when your mind tells you something else and your heart tells you a different thing, that moment when you can't think clearly and all you want to do is keep your belief, but a lot of evidence makes you lose that belief.
"NO!" I shouted and couldn't take it anymore as I collapsed.
Still, at that state I could hear a few voices in the background, one belonged to Mr Gilbert and he was giving out instructions to someone.
"Take her away, just take her to a country where she can never find her way back." I heard another voice and then footsteps as the door bang, I couldn't move and soon everything became silent again.
This time I wish I never wake up again, I could only see happy memories I shared with Russeli and I hope to be this way with him, if it means being together in the afterlife.
I don't know how long I slept, but I opened my eyes and all I could hear were a few unfamiliar voices. I squinted because of the sunlight coming in through the window. I turned my eyes and noticed that this place was also unfamiliar, but I was still in the hospital.
I saw a man wearing a white coat and his dressing tells me that he was a doctor, I couldn't make out the face since he had his back on me and was checking my IV.
"Excuse me please," I said softly and then he turned to face me. He was a young handsome man and his face was friendly and he looked like a nice person, so I went ahead to ask him. "Can I know if Russeli Ryan is okay? Is it true that he is dead?" I was still laying down on the bed since I was too weak to get up.
"I am so sorry, there is no one with that record here." He told me in a majestic voice and I was confused, he could see my expression and he went further to say. "Malinda Kristen, welcome to America." He said with a gentle smile, but my eyes dilated as I stared into space in shock.
"What! America?" I sat up immediately and I could feel my head spin as I looked around the room I was in, it all gave me a headache. I turned to the doctor who was still staring at me. "Why am I here? I am not from here." I said in a panicked voice.
"You were transferred to this hospital by..." He looked at the pad he was holding and a straight light flashed through his eyebrow as he looked up at me in a confused expression. "It is not stated."
I was so terrified and my breathing was fast as I held onto the doctor's coat. "Please take me back," I begged with pleading eyes. "Please take me back home.
He looked at me for a long while and seemed to be contemplating something, then he opened his lips and said a few words. "I am sorry, you need to get better first before we decide what to do next."
I shook my head profusely, I don't know how I got to this place, I don't know who brought me here, I was terrified to my bones and I also need to confirm if Russeli is alive.
"No, I can't stay here!" I protest. "I need to see Russeli, he got into an accident with me too, his father said he is dead. I have to go with him, I can't live without Russelli, I just can't." I left his coat and began to take away the injection from my hand but the young doctor held my hand.
"You can't do that." I struggled to free myself, but he was strongly holding me back. I saw a few nurses rush in and they injected something into my IV and I felt so weak.
I felt dizzy and then I saw the doctor lay me down and covered me with a bed cover. I only had the energy to matter Russeli's name a few times before shutting my eyes.
