Chapter 21: Chapter 21

"If you won't accept Malinda, then I have no choice but to flee."

His face changed drastically and he chuckled but his eyes were cold. "Then I have no choice either." The way he sounded made me scared and I braced myself for what comes next. "Guards!"

I heard loud footsteps drawing closer and I looked up at the open door and my eyes were dilated as I saw tons of guards stepping inside. I looked at my father, shocked. When did this many guards arrive?

It was strange since the only guard in this mansion was the one that always leaves home with my father. Has he prepared this whole thing before having this conversation with me? Has he known I will be stubborn and brought these guards to wait out there?

I stood in surprise as they all called my father boos and waited for his orders, I was at a loss for words because of the shock I was in.

"You are not to let him move from this mansion until I tell you to." He ordered and I squinted as I looked at my father with anger in my eyes.

"Dad I won't let you do that, you can't restrain my movement..."

"And you!" His loud voice thundered as he pointed at one of the guards and I pressed my lips together, swallowing my words. "You are not to take your eyes off him even when he is inside this house and never let him have any conversation whatsoever with my maid."

The guard responded and it made me angry that he kept on ordering them like I was not there. The room was suddenly cold and only breathing could be heard, the air was tense and I clenched my fist.

"Hand over your phone!" My father told me and took it before I could reach it. "You are to stay like that until you come back to your senses." He said in a rush without giving me a chance to speak. "Guards take him to his room!"

He ordered and two strong hands seized me by the arm. I tried to shake them off, but they were stronger than me and I couldn't compare to their strength.

"Dad, you can't do this to me, dad please!" I called out as they dragged me to my room. I watched my father turn his cold back at me, still giving orders to the other guards. I couldn't hear what he was telling them, but I saw him pointing at places before I was shoved into the room and my door was shut.

I knew there was no need to bang the door, the guards I saw were never going to negotiate with me, the only order they would respect was my dad's order. I space around the room thinking, I peered through the window and could see a few guards walking around outside and glancing left and right.

I rolled my eyes and closed the window. What was my father thinking when he brought this much guard to the mansion, to me it didn't change anything. One thing I was good at was playing hide and seek.

I glanced out of the window and monitored their position again. I knew one guard was standing outside my door, so I had to plan another route to leave this room.

It was already dark and a perfect time to leave this mansion with Malinda, I knew the security will be tighter tomorrow since my father will stop at nothing to make sure I never speak to Malinda again.

I pocketed my credit card and car key as I searched for a long rope in my room. I tied it to my room window and threw it down after making sure there were no guards at that side of the building. I gently climbed down the window.

I tried as much as possible to avoid a few guards until I got to the little room Malinda stayed in. I gently opened the door and stepped in, she was also uneasy and was spacing around. She turned around quickly when she heard the door and I could see her pupils enlarge when she saw me.

"Malinda," I whispered as I walked close to her, she looked up at my face and I could see the worry pasted on her eyes and forehead.

"Russeli, what happened to you?" She searched my eyes. "Why are guards everywhere? What is wrong?" She was breathing hard and fast and I could see the fear in her eyes.

I pulled her into my embrace and hugged her close to my heart and I closed my eyes gently, I had thought I wouldn't see her again, I knew the risk I took in getting over to her room.

"Malinda." I refrained and cupped her face and stared into her eyes. "We have to leave, and we have to leave now." I took her hands. "Come with me."

She holds me back and I face her with my brows lifted as she shakes her head. "No Russeli, I can't go with you."

"Malinda, we can't do this right now, I have told you before about this." I cupped her face again with my hands and I could see her warm tears roll down my palm. "Trust me, Malinda, please we have to leave before the guards and my father find us."

I knew that if we got caught, not only would Malinda be locked away, he would never get to see her again, and that was not what he wanted.

"Russeli, although we love each other, I can't leave with you, please understand, I have to keep working here to earn a living and you should go back to your life." Her eyes were filled with tears as they bore into mine.

"Malinda, please make this all easy for me, you love me and I love you, we should start a new life somewhere else where you won't have to be a maid or known as an orphan, let's flee and have a chance to love ourselves without hiding." I held her hands to lead her to the door again.

"Russelli.."

"Trust me." I gave her an assuring smile and she nodded. I hugged her again and planted a soft kiss on her plump lips. "Thank you," I whispered as I kissed her forehead. "We have to hurry."

"Wait." She said in a hushed voice and I watched her go over to her desk and took the small snow globe I had bought for her as a birthday.

She lifted it for me to see and I saw a little smile on her face. "I would go with this." She said softly and he held her hands. "Now we can go."

We made our way out of the room. I was on the lookout and we avoided a lot of guards. We left the mansion through a little door I knew in the mansion. The guards were not there so we got to the garage in time.

I opened the passenger's door and Malinda got it. I turned over to the driver's seat and started the car engine just as a guard shouted. I knew that they must have discovered I was out of my room and informed my father.

I saw the big gate closing so I accelerated and made it past it in time, driving with speed. I looked over at Malinda whose hands were trembling and she was gazing back from time to time.

"Russeli, they are after us." Tears were rolling down her cheek as she looked at me, seeming nervous. I could see through the side glass and could see four black cars chasing my car. We were already at the highway, I took Malinda's shaky hands and squeezed them gently as I looked at her face.

"We will be out of sight very soon." I gently wiped off her tears with my other free hands while the other one was holding the steering wheel. "I promise, I will protect you Malinda from hurt." I touched her face and smiled softly. "I love you, Malinda."

"I love you Russeli." She said softly and her voice whispered in my ears and mesmerised my soul, we both smiled and admitted the tears in our eyes.

I turn my eyes back at the road and my pupils flared as I try to avoid the big truck that was so close to our car, the distance was not much and I was driving at full speed and knew I couldn't do anything about it, I turn to look at Malinda who was scared to death.

Bang!

I collided with the truck and my mouth parted as our car somersaulted and flew in mid-air, by the time it landed on the ground, it crashed and I could only feel pain all over my body and broken pieces of glass in my skin.

My eyes were open but I couldn't move. I turned my eyes to see Malinda choking in her blood and the snow globe in her hands were shattered. I couldn't move and tears filled my eyes and my gaze was beginning to blur.

I wanted to say something but I just couldn't, blood filled the glass and Malinda was staring at me with wide eyes, unable to say a word too. We just stared at each other, trying to reach ourselves, but deep down we knew it was the last time we would see each other.

We were slowly dying, this was how far our escape could go, this was how far our love could go, my heart was crushed, the pain was choking me and I just couldn't take it anymore, tears rolled down Malinda's eyes, mixing with blood.

This was our final goodbye. I couldn't stay away anymore, my head felt congested and I felt like I was slowly drifting. The last thing I saw was footsteps drawing close to us and Malinda's eyes finally closed, then blackout!
