Chapter 401: Chapter 401

Shannon Quinn didn’t ask him how he regained his memories, nor did she bring up the time when he had amnesia.

She didn’t speak of her grievances, nor did she express any resentment towards him.

It was as if none of it had happened.

No shipwreck; no anxious waiting; no forgotten past; no regret and pain over losing a child...

It was as if he had just returned from a business trip, and she still loved him deeply.

But Landon Sutton couldn’t forgive those days, even if she didn’t mention it, he couldn’t escape his inner guilt.

Inside the hotel room.

Ronan Rhodes wasn’t sure if the memory-restored Landon Sutton would go to the company today, and out of concern for his own safety to avoid being a frustrated scapegoat, he decided to go to the company early.

Usually sleeping in until the sun was high, today he got up before eight from the warmth of his bed.

He took a shower, standing by the bed to get dressed.

The woman lying under the covers looked at him sleepily and asked, "Ronan, why don’t you sleep a little longer?"

Ronan squinted his peach-shaped eyes and said tenderly to the woman, "I have to go to the company. You can sleep a little more, be good."

Woman: "Are we having lunch together?"

Ronan said while fastening his belt, "I might not have time at noon, let’s do it in the evening."

The woman pouted in dissatisfaction but finally agreed, "Alright, remember to call me when you get off work."

Ronan smiled, picked up the coat by the bed, casually slung it over his shoulder, and walked over to drop a kiss on the woman’s forehead before turning to leave.

He was never stingy with affection for women, but he was also never reluctant to change them.

The time spent with him could give you the illusion of a passionate romance, but once he lost interest, he would never look back at you.

So Ronan never let himself fall for anyone, never spoke of love.

He found it too troublesome.

Taking the elevator to the lobby, checkout procedures didn’t require his attention, so he intended to leave directly.

But then he noticed a girl sitting at the front desk having breakfast.

Taking advantage of a moment with no guests checking in or out, the girl was devouring her steamed buns, almost swallowing two bites in one.

Her mouth was full, cheeks puffed out slightly, looking somewhat adorable.

Ronan couldn’t help but smile, changed direction, and walked to the front desk, knocking on the counter with his hand.

Charlotte Sheffield, who was buried in her food, immediately raised her head. Seeing a guest, she quickly swallowed the unchewed bun in her mouth and almost choked.

She adjusted herself as quickly as possible, smiled politely, and asked, "Hello sir, how may I help you?"

Recognizing Ronan as the man she saw at the hospital yesterday, Charlotte didn’t greet him, maintaining her official smile while waiting for Ronan’s response.

Ronan sized her up, feigning ignorance, and said, "You work here, huh?"

Charlotte bit her lip and nodded. She could handle guests with grace and politeness, but she seemed a bit uneasy around "acquaintances" she’d only met once.

The impression she gave was that of a somewhat introverted girl.

Ronan: "I didn’t get a chance to thank you yesterday."

Charlotte opened her mouth but seemed unsure of how to respond.

Ronan glanced at the work badge on her chest. Her ID photo looked even greener than she did in person—long black hair, bright eyes, a serene smile—like a snapshot from high school.

This gave Ronan a bit more fondness for the girl in front of him.

Charlotte felt uneasy under his gaze and couldn’t help but repeat, "Sir, do you need anything?"

Ronan smiled, noting that the front desk usually had two or three people, probably due to shift changes; she was the only one there now.

He leaned in a little, lowered his voice, and asked her, "Do you have a boyfriend?"

Charlotte’s eyes widened in surprise, her face flushed a little, and she seemed unsure of how to respond.

Seeing she wasn’t the kind of flirtatious girl, Ronan didn’t tease her further. Standing upright, he said, "Just kidding, please send breakfast to room 3310 later."

Charlotte: "Yes, sir." ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ nοvelfire.net

Ronan took a few steps, then turned back to glance at Charlotte again.

As soon as their eyes met for less than a fraction of a second, she blushed as if shocked and quickly lowered her head.

The corners of Ronan’s mouth curved upwards a bit more, and he left the hotel whistling a tune.

Landon Sutton officially returned, hitting the trending headlines.

During the shipwreck, there had been reports of Vincent Rhodes’s whereabouts being unknown, with speculations that he had probably died.

With no new information or clues, the issue was left unresolved.

Since returning, Landon Sutton hadn’t formally appeared in the public eye, and now, reclaiming his old identity, he came back like a storm.

The primary goal was to restore the company’s prestige, to deter those with ill intentions from harboring inappropriate ideas.

Be it in business or in love.

He would no longer leave anyone any room for opportunity.

Watching his press conference at home, Shannon Quinn felt mostly relieved.

No matter what had happened, now that he was back, it was a blessing in disguise.

The past gains and losses shouldn’t be harbored in the heart; some things should be let go.

Grasp the happiness and joy before you, so there are no regrets when recalling the present in the future.

After lunch, Shannon Quinn expressed her wish to go out, and Catherine Yardley, perhaps happy as well, nodded and allowed her to leave.

Apart from the few times she snuck out, this was Shannon Quinn’s first legitimate outing.

She didn’t call Landon Sutton but drove straight to his company.

It was evident that everyone from top to bottom seemed happy about Landon Sutton’s return, and the atmosphere was noticeably different from the last time she visited the company.

Listening to people greet her as "Mrs. President" along the way, Shannon Quinn’s mood was as bright as the sunny weather outside.

Before reaching Landon Sutton’s office, she ran into Ronan Rhodes, who was hurrying with a file.

"Sister-in-law? What brings you here?"

Shannon Quinn pointed towards Landon Sutton’s office and asked, "Is he in?"

Ronan shook his head, "He’s still in a meeting, lots of things to do. I think Master Nate isn’t in a good mood since coming back. Sister-in-law, do your best to cheer him up, so the whole company can have some good days, otherwise, it’s like now, having meetings all morning, nit-picking, and giving me a headache."

Shannon Quinn didn’t forget to defend him, speaking on behalf of Landon Sutton, "That must be because of your poor management. You didn’t handle things well when he wasn’t here, so now he has to clean up after you."

Ronan looked helpless, "I see you and Master Nate are definitely partners in crime."

Shannon Quinn advised, "What I mean is you should spend less time with women and focus more on your work."

Ronan pouted, walking away, "Sister-in-law, you’re not cute anymore."
