Chapter 99: Chapter 99

Third POV.

They all left the dining room and went to practice. Now that they knew what was waiting ahead of them and what their king and queen were up against, they saw the need to help them.

Not only that, they knew that Leila was a good person. She had become their friend and never looked down upon them even if they had a lower rank than them.

In a blink, two weeks passed with them always practising. With the help of Elana and Marcus who had the scenes of the great fight in the last great war, their fighting skills increased rapidly.

They were not selfish thus all warriors were taught the skills apart from the high risky ones. During their free time, Eric, Matteo, Jordan, Doris and Aurora accompanied the family of three to the elders.

Although they could not help out much, they could provide with anything needed in the middle of the training.

Each one of them had taken a liking on a certain gift. With the urge to have it, their minds proceeded with the teachings.

“I wonder what you guys will be taught today,” Matteo said with envy evident in his tone.

“We can detect envy in your tone,” Leila said as she glanced at him.

Three days after the ambush, Leila took control and gave Amaya a chance to recharge and rest. During that time, she got over her feelings and pain. Now, she did not have any kind of expectation from Aiden.

She get her distance as she knew that he certainly hated her. She did not go in front of him or make a mistake which could make him hate her even more.

Even though she claimed to be over him, she still loved him and wished that things could change but she did not try to change him or make him see where he went wrong. To her, her grandmother could never pair her with someone who will hate her and make her suffer.

She opted to trust the moon goddess and wait till Aiden apologises.

Hearing her words, the others chuckled.

“You really can’t blame him, I am also always envious of the four of you everytime I see you learning something new,” Eric said as he glanced at the four who had gifts.

“Don’t worry. I think you will get your gifts soon,” Elana said after Elaine said something to her.

“When do you know when it will be?” Doris asked in a cheerful tone, making Elana shake her head.

“Don’t think that we have been training so hard in the past two weeks? I am so tired and also, we will be completing the classes in a few days,” Marcus said when he saw the look on his mate’s face and knew she did not want to talk about their gifts.

They all nodded their heads agreeing with his words but some of them couldn’t understand what he was trying to say.

Seeing their confused look, Leila sighed before saying, “Even though we have learnt a lot of things. We really don’t know what is ahead of us. I just feel as if we aren’t prepared enough. Maybe your gifts will come in handy.”

“Maybe you are right but since we don’t know what is ahead of us, can’t we ask either Josiah or the council so that we can know and work extra hard?” Jordan asked with a frown on his face.

“Josiah? Do you think that man can tell us? If I am not wrong, he will just tell us to continue practising until that day arrives. The council? I think they can’t dare to tell us,” Leila said as she had gotten those old people's opinions and characters after some few weeks of staying with them.

“Why won’t they? They have all witnessed how hard we have been working,” Matteo said in confusion.

“Let me ask you something. If it were you, you can see that the youngsters are working hard hoping to emerge victorious in the battle and you know what they are up against. Can you tell them knowing very well that if they know, they will start panicking?” Marcus asked, shutting them up as they understood what he was trying to say.

“What are we going to do?” Eric asked as he felt some crisis upon listening to their words.

“Even if we will panic, we can put more effort and get ideas on what to do so as to defeat the enemies, right?” Doris asked, making them nod their heads.

“Grandma cannot tell us since she is the reason we are in this big mess. We can ask grandpa,” Elana said as her eyes lit up after some few minutes of silence.

“Wait, I thought you do not have relatives around? How come you are talking about your grandparents now?” Jordan asked as he smelt something fishy.

“Sometimes, it is necessary to avoid saying much as it can get you in trouble,” Leila said as she rolled her eyes.

The girls closed their eyes and opened them after a few minutes.

“Pfft. Do you know that I was having a cup of tea with my old friends when you called me?” an old voice sounded shocking to everyone apart from Elana and Leila.

“Grandpa,” they said as they ran to his side.

“I am not going to talk to you,” the old man said stubbornly.

“Grandpa, haven’t you missed us? Or did you find other little girls who you love more than us?” Leila asked as she pretended to be angry.

To her, if the old man wanted to become stubborn, she could even be more stubborn than him.

Hearing her words, the old man’s face softened as he looked at her.

“How can that be? You will always be my little twinkle stars. My princesses,” he said softly as he patted her head making the sisters laugh.

He was shocked as he knew that he had already fallen for their tricks.

“Grandpa, these are our friends down here. We have been training hard because of the battle ahead but we are afraid that there is still something lacking. Can you please help us?” Elana said as she saw there was no point of beating around the bush.

She could just say whatever she wanted from him.
