Chapter 72: Chapter 72

Third POV.

“What?” they exclaimed as they looked at her in disbelief.

“Don’t give me that look when you all know whose fault it is. I have given you guys a chance to give me reason not to punish you but you opted to be indifferent and sound that you don’t care about anything and nothing in this world can make you worried,” the moon goddess said as she stared at them.

They wanted to argue but they couldn’t find the right words to say. Even if they wanted to use her husband, they knew that the result would still be the same as the darkness were the ones at fault and not the girls thus the old man would not feel anything for them and plead for them as he hated the darkness so much because of what happened in the past. He tends to forget that they have that part in them and try getting rid of them. Although he is so good at the girls, it is only because they are his beloved generation and grandchildren, he cannot get any of his own and also because they are so adorable that he can never bring himself to do anything bad to them and hate them.

“Good. At least you know when to argue and when you should not,” the Moon Goddess said, making the girls glare at her and their eyes carried a murderous intent.

“Ma…ma,” Marcus stammered as he wondered how to address the old woman since he had always been afraid of talking to her thus he never did so often but only when answering questions.

Both Amaya and Elaine looked at him wondering whether he was stupid or why he was so afraid of the woman since to them, there was nothing to be afraid of. They chuckled secretly when she struggled and wondered to see what he will do next as he has always had the girls beside him to help him when they are in the presence of their grandmother.

“What do you want to say Marcus? That you don’t know how to do that?” Moon Goddess asked as she looked at the young man.

“Yes,” Marcus answered hurriedly as if he was afraid that his chance of giving a reply might vanish.

The moon goddess' eyes turned cold upon hearing his answer.

“Marcus, do you want me to remind you the reason you came down here?” she asked, making Marcus gulp while the others looked at the moon goddess in curiosity as they waited for her to go on.

“Your grandfather always praised you for being so skilled and caring. You can differentiate between right or wrong but you’ve disappointed me so much today,” she said angrily but she did not raise her voice.

Marcus looked down as he was ashamed of being lectured before everyone.

“You were present when Amaya started provoking Elana since she wanted Elaine to send some strength to Elaine and make her strong so that she can stop been dormant and get control. You were there, although you didn’t know her intentions, you knew it was a risk for her to fight in public and make people see how strong she is. There are people who are talking about how Leila’s eyes turned black and how the two fought. Instead of you preventing it, although you didn’t encourage it, you did not do anything to stop the craziness. You are their accomplice that when they are getting punished you will also get punished. Don’t try defending yourself as I won’t change anything,” she said as she looked at him seriously.

“Okay. I am sorry. I will do what brought me here,” Marcus said, making the moon goddess nod her head in satisfaction.

“Josiah will go back to the dungeon so as to keep an eye on the father - daughter duo as we can’t risk anything. If the enemies find out that both of you have darkness in you and not only Leila, they won’t wait as they will feel they are in danger. They will attack immediately, try killing both of you and end my creation,” the moon Goddess said, making everyone remain silent as they understood the gravity of what happened and what can happen if they aren't cautious enough.

“Okay,” Josiah said respectfully as he bowed down.

“You should always listen to him. I am not here with you throughout to guide and protect you neither are your parents and grandfather. He is the eye and ear for us. Everything he says represents us thus you should not concentrate so much on his identity. Whether he is one of my creations or not. All you should know is that we trust him so much although he isn’t part of our family or servant,” she said, making everyone look at Josiah while the elders looked at him with envy wishing they were the ones selected to be the moon goddess’ grandchildren protector.

“Grandma, you can’t do that to us! Who will teach us about the minds?” a soft voice said, earning their attention.

“Leila my dear,” the moon goddess called her softly with full of love, adoration and care.

“Weren’t you guys pretending to be angry at me and opted not to speak with me when I seeked to be giving a reason as to why what happened happened? I won’t change my mind so don’t think you can convince me.”

“If I didn’t give Amaya control to fight I would have lost that’s for sure. Please understand me, grandma,” Leila said as she held her grandmother's right hand tightly and intimately.

“Yeah and my reason, I suddenly felt annoyed at her words and I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t control my anger. I just found myself fighting her then after once, I felt I wasn’t in control and was locked up,” Elana also said as held on the other hand intimately.

Hearing their excuses and seeing how they were both behaving, the moon goddess felt as she knew that they were speaking the truth.

“You need to know how to control your powers, the three of you and I want that to be the first thing you all do. Controlling one's mind. You can ask for the old woman’s help,” she told them

“By tomorrow evening.”
