Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Third POV.

“Why are you looking at that door?” Elana asked Marcus since he had refused to walk in their room.

“I guess that Leila is sharing a room with Aiden and I am afraid of what he might do to her,” he said without looking at his mate.

Hearing this, Elana chuckled before shaking her head.

“One might think that you are her father from how you are behaving,” Elana said while rolling her eyes.

“Well, I am her father since I am the man of the house. Furthermore she is my baby sister then I have to protect her from the animals that want to eat her up,” he answered.

“She isn’t your baby sister since you aren’t related by blood!” Elana rebuked him, making Marcus turn his attention and gaze at her with a hurtful look.

“Even though we aren’t related by blood, she is my baby sister since she is your sister. Kindly stop hurting me with your cold words,” he said.

“How have I ever hurt you and I was just telling the truth? Or has it become a crime to speak the truth now?” she asked as she raised her eyebrows to him.

“I won’t argue with you,” Marcus said as he tried his best not to show his anger and take it on her.

Rolling her eyes, Elana said, “ you keep guarding the door as if you are afraid of anyone interrupting them, not what you claim.”

Marcus looked at her for some few moments then turned his direction at the door opposite of their room.

“Then what do you think I should do? We can’t let Aiden mark her now or anything,” he said worriedly.

“I wonder whether I should call you a hypocrite or what. You marked and mated with me on the same day we met yet here you are pretending as if you are the best and clean guy. Aiden is far better than you,” Elana said.

“What’s wrong with you? Why have you been rebuking me all the time as if I have done something wrong?” Marcus asked worriedly.

“Nothing is wrong with me. It’s just that you are so annoying! You opt to stay here and look at their door with the door to our room opened and I want to sleep. If you are so afraid of something happening to them then I suggest you should just go, knock at their door. Can’t you think of anything?” she asked him as she rolled her eyes.

“I am not as wise as you are mate,” he said with a calm voice before giving her a peck.

“You are the best. Let me do what you’ve instructed,” he said before starting to walk.

Elana shook her head as she wondered what excuse he would say after opening it. After all, she knew that Aiden was not a simple man either. Feeling curious of what will happen afterwards, she leaned on the door as she looked at her mate.

Sadly, luck wasn’t on Marcus' side since as he was about to knock the door, they heard some footsteps walking towards the direction. Afraid of being caught, Marcus tiptoed hurriedly back to their room. Elana wanted to laugh at him but she was also afraid since she didn’t know who it was.

They closed the door gently but fast. Wanting to see who was coming since there were no bed rooms other than the two rooms on that side.

“Who do you think it is?” Marcus asked Elana in a whisper as they continued peeping through the space left.

I really don’t know. It should be some househelps,” she said, making Marcus shake his head in disagreement.

Seeing this, Elana raised her eyebrows at him as she waited for his answer.

“The omegas aren’t supposed to come here at night I guess. After all, they don't work at night, right?” he asked her.

Elana fell in deep thoughts as she wondered who it was.

“Maybe you aren’t the only one who wants to save Leila from Aiden’s wrath,” she said after some seconds.

Marcus looked at her waiting for her to elaborate further.

“Who knows? Maybe it's Aurora. We both know how the two girls have become close to each other,” she said.

Marcus' lips curved into a smile as he stood up straight and nearly opened the door when they saw an unfamiliar figure looking around to see whether there was anyone else. Afraid of getting caught, Marcus closed the door hurriedly without making any sound.

The couple looked at each other before they nod shook their heads as if they were communicating through their eyes. Afraid of being left behind or failing to see what the person was up to, they opened the door slowly and peeped.

They saw a woman wearing a pink transparent nightdress. They were shocked as they wondered what the woman was up to. They saw her walking towards Aiden’s room making them turn and look at each other but remained still and didn’t make any sound.

Seeing the woman about to turn the lock, they opened the door widely, making the woman jump out of fright.

“What were you planning going inside Aiden’s room dressed like a whore?” Marcus asked angrily.

Even though he hoped nothing would happen between Leila and Aiden, it didn’t mean that he would allow any woman to come between the young couples. He didn’t dare imagine how heartbroken Leila would feel or what she might do.

“How dare you call me a whore! Who do you think you are talking to me in such a manner? I am the next future queen of this kingdom and the werewolves,” the woman said angrily but in a low tone since she was afraid that someone else who knows her might see her dressed like that.

“The next queen? It seems that you love dreaming so much. How come you aren’t the woman whom the king said was his mate? Or are you planning on forcing yourself on the king so that he can make you his queen?” Elana asked coldly.

The woman’s face paled since her schemes had been revealed. Even though no one else was here apart from them, she didn’t feel any better.

“What is going on here?"
