Third POV.

“What? She belongs here!” Aiden’s dad said when he heard Elana’s words.

“Well, it is currently not safe for her to stay in this kingdom thus it is best if she leaves with us!” Elana said as she tried her best not to sound cold or say anything that she might regret later.

“Are you trying to say that I can’t protect my own mate? If she leaves because of such a thing, what will people say? What will they think of me?” Aiden asked before his father retorted to Elana’s words.

“You are a king yet you still care about what people will say about you and your family? I am so disappointed in you. If I am not wrong, if something ever happens in this kingdom when my sister starts living here and people start talking shit about both of you or even worse blame her, will you choose to believe them and try your best to prove them wrong as you force them to stop?” Elana asked seriously dumbfounding Aiden.

Seeing his face, Elana knew what was on his mind, making her roll her eyes as she wondered whether all men were the same.

“You should care about what they will say. People were given mouth to talk thus don’t expect not to talk about what they say or hear. That’s human nature. When you see or hear people talking about you, you should just look at them, smile at them or even better join in their topic! Make them dumbfounded! Make them feel as if they made fools out of themselves. Don’t ever concern yourself with what people say. Even if you would have been an omega instead of a king,” Elana explained.

“When they talk, just know that you are above them and they are below you. I am not saying this just because you are a king, no! Even if you had the lowest rank here, just know that. They talk because they see something in you. Something is interesting about you and they are jealous of it,” Marcus continued, making Elana nod her head as she looked at him with pride on her face.

“You guys speak like wise men. How I wish that you were my kids instead of these two,” Aiden’s father said, making people chuckle but his kids glaring at him.

“There is no need to worry about that, aren’t w a family now?” Elana said with a smile on her face.

“Yes, yes. How could I have forgotten about that? Your parents aren’t with you and as the only member in the two families, I will take the role of being your father thus from today, the three of you should call me dad. Marcus, if you dare hurt Elana when you are away and I hear about it make sure I will make you regret even if you are a god,” the old king.

These words touched Elana’s and Leila’s hearts. Tears threatened to escape but they made sure to be strong even and avoid crying.

“Oh no! I am already afraid of their grandparents and when I thought I was lucky since we live alone, there is someone else who is powerful here giving me a warning. Do you all want me to live in fear? Can’t you give me a break?” Marcus asked, making everyone laugh at him upon hearing his words.

“Don’t forget my acting skills. If you do something that annoys me then…” Leila said with a smirk on her face.

“You! Don’t remind me what you did a few hours ago when your grandma was here,” Marcus said while glaring at her.

“Blame yourself that your acting skills are awful. They can never be compared to mine,” Leila said with a laugh.

The members of the council and the old king were shocked at seeing such a scene. To them, the family of three was cold and seemed as if they didn’t know how to portray emotions.

“Can both of you stop bickering? We aren’t home for goodness sake! Just wait till we arrive there then you can do what you want. Something I wonder whether both of you are siblings and I am the one who got married in that family,” Elana said sounding helpless but people chuckled because of the last words.

“As much as I want to always see that smile on her face, I can’t allow you to go with her. I actually agreed with the party cause I knew that she was a beta’s daughter and it was one of her responsibilities to attend such an event,” Aiden said seriously while looking at Elena.

“Kid, I have to admit that you are already smitten by her but as I said, I will be leaving with her when you are done solving the kingdom’s drama, you can come for her,” Elana said coldly as she knew that they might just stay here arguing over the same thing.

“I can protect her! How is it possible that I can protect my own mate? If I can protect the kingdom since I am the king, I believe, no, I know that I will be the best mate,” Aiden said firmly without having the intention of giving in.

“I am touched by how both of you are arguing because of me since you all love me and want to stay with me but sorry mate, I will be leaving with my sister,” Leila said after she saw her sister ready to speak back.

Hearing this, Aiden was hurt. He tried not to make it so obvious but everyone had already seen it. His family and the members of the council wondered why Leila refused to be left behind but they did not dare question it cause it wasn’t in their position to.

“I don’t know why you are hurt by my words. Aren’t you the one who told me the other day and you will come for me? That I should spend some weeks with my sister before being with you for a lifetime? I am just following what you told me,” Leila said.

Aiden was shocked since he did not expect that to be the reason. He was happy when he realized that Leila always remembered what he said to her.

“There is a miracle healer in the kingdom.”
