Chapter 44: Chapter 44
Third POV.
“Why are you asking, child?” Aiden’s father said.
“Well, before we continue, guards, why don’t you do as you have been instructed?” Leila said upon noticing that they were still standing and Josiah listening to what was being discussed.
“Oh, and please don’t forget what my sister-in-law has instructed. Only meat as his meal and he should be provided with it three times a day,” Aiden said, backing his mate.
When everyone heard this, they knew he was giving Leila full power over the kingdom. He wanted everyone to know who his mate and future queen was. He also wanted to make them prepared since he didn’t want people to treat her differently.
“Yes Your Majesty, Your Highness,” the bodyguards said in unison before leaving the room while dragging Josiah.
Josiah could tell that they didn’t want him to hear whatever they were going to discuss. He was curious but he knew his boundary. All his life, the old man was the only person who had eyes on him but currently, he knew addition to the old man, the moon goddess, the sisters and the councils all had eyes on him waiting to see his next move. To see what he will do after being locked up.
He felt rage when he remembered the meals he was supposed to be given. He knew that the king’s family and the council members would be waiting to see him becoming stronger than he is since to them it was a good opportunity but in reality, he was being oppressed by the cruel sisters just like…. Just thinking about it made him clench his fist even though his hands were tied using chains.
“Can you please tell us why you are asking the question before we continue?” Amanda asked after the door was shut and the guard's footsteps faded.
“I think that I was the one who asked the first question but it seems that you all don’t like playing by the rules,” Elana said but her lips were curved into a mocking smile making Amanda burn with fury inside her.
Seeing that a fight might break between the two of them, Elijah coughed lightly gaining their attention.
“That wasn't our intention, Elana. We were just curious as to why you are asking,” he said.
“Can’t I be curious and ask? After all, you people have been in here since my sister woke up, you have heard what was said, you’ve known things that other people don’t know yet, and I don’t even know your names! All I know is that you all have high ranks in the kingdom,” she explained as she eyed each of them one at a time.
Hearing this, they lowered their heads as they wondered why she, Elana as a pack’s beta, didn't know anything about them or even know their identities. They had seen her in annual meetings, some had talked to her thus making it difficult to see through what she was thinking.
“What my mate is trying to say is that you know everything about us while we don’t know about you. How can we trust that you are not another Josiah?” Marcus explained.
The members of the councils let out a sigh of relief about hearing that and vowed to cooperate fully.
“We have the most powerful members here, Amanda and Elijah. There are usually three but one of them isn’t present. If I am not mistaken, he might be taking care of her daughter after discovering that her daughter won’t be my son’s chosen mate,” the old king said.
“Wait. that bitch who kept saying that she is the future queen and will be more powerful than you in the kingdom?” Leila asked as she looked at Aurora.
Knowing the question was directed to her, Aurora nodded her head before saying, “Yeah, his father as one of the most powerful council members forced dad and brother to find his mate before yesterday, failure to do that, his daughter will be mated to him making her the queen.”
“Don’t any of you have daughters whom you can offer to? It should be like a competition not accepting any shit anyone throws at you,” Leila said, shocking them.
“Guess you don’t want me to be your mate if you can really throw me to other girls,” Aiden said as he looked at her.
“Hey, I just said. Furthermore, aren’t I talking about the past?” She asked as she patted his cheek.
“Makes sense,” he responded before giving her a peck on her forehead.
“What are the possibilities of him making this difficult for my sister?” Elana asked as she looked at them.
They were all caught off guard by the question but they knew that it was better to talk about it now than wait till things got hard out of control since they knew it would just be a matter of time.
“None of you are going to answer me?” she asked again, bringing them back from their drifted minds.
“Honestly speaking, the chances are so high! If I am not wrong, her daughter might be currently throwing tantrums or even worse did something out of anger putting her in danger yesterday during the war,” Mike said.
“Are you trying to say that she might be hurt?” Aurora asked.
If it weren’t for the fact they knew about the quarrel between the two girls and the hatred between them since they were kids, they would have mistaken that question as a question asked out of care and worry.
“Yes. After that, that man might cause trouble for all of you. Not only Leila,” Amanda said with concern on her face.
“I might not be afraid of them. Do they think that I can just handle my things on a silver platter? Also, since when did I have to share my belongings with anyone? Even Elana, who is my sister, we’ve never shared our belongings. We know what the meaning of boundary is. Aiden is mine and only mine. How I wish I could just mark him to keep all the she-wolves away from him or even covet him!” Leila said angrily, shocking everyone with her possessiveness but after some time, some smiled while others chuckled.
“We might need to go to our pack immediately.”
