Chapter 43: Chapter 43

Third POV.

“Where are you taking me?” Josiah asked as the guards encircled him.

“Stop asking questions. You will know when we get there,” one of the guards asked angrily.

Josiah was so angry that he wondered where the guard had gotten the nerve to ask him in that manner. Ever since he was a child, he was admired by my kids of his age and some of the parents were envious of his parents. They wished that they were the ones who had taken him in. The fact that his adoptive parents were elders of the kingdom helped out too, that’s why even the members of the council and the kings were so respectful to him. If it weren’t for what had happened years ago, he would have been a member of the council too. Even though he refused it, he has always been considered as one.

Elana had a smirk on her face when she saw his angry face, she knew what he was thinking but she didn’t care about that at all. She rubbed the cheek that her grandmother had slapped her and smiled as she swore revenge even though it wouldn’t be to her grandmother.

Josiah wanted to use magic or was it the powers he had when he remembered Elana's warning? He looked at her with wary eyes as he wondered how she had found out about him. After all, no one knew about it apart from his ‘master’.

Just as he was about to walk out of the room, something flashed in his mind making him smile evilly.

“Wait, I have something to say,” he said as he turned around to face everyone in the room.

“Weren’t you told to trust me?” Josiah asked, taking the family of three by surprise.

The others were confused and looked at them curiously.

With a smirk on her face, Leila said, “Well, what you have just said is true. That’s what she said. But… did we really force you to take the risk? Were we the ones who told you to lie to us? What do you take us for? A fool? Or little children?”

Hearing this, everyone was shocked. The elders and the old king wondered what was on the girl's mind.

‘If they were told to trust him then why didn’t they say something when he was being taken away? Why did they want to get rid of Josiah so badly?’

“I ….,” Josiah tried to explain himself but upon seeing the glares on the sister's face, everything he wanted to say disappeared from his mind, making his mind blank.

“Even though we were told to, how can we trust you blindly? If you really had good intentions when coming here in the name of helping us, then why did you lie to us instead of telling us the truth?” Elana asked.

Everyone in the room had to agree with her since whatever she said made sense. Those who looked forward to Josiah's release upon his words lost hope once more. Josiah’s eyes dimmed as he wondered why the girls weren’t following the instructions given to them.

“You know, if only you told us the truth, you could have been saved from this. My hands are tied and I can’t do anything if they want you to be locked up,” Marcus said as he raised his hands in the air.

The girls glared at him while he avoided their gaze. He knew that if he said anything wrong, their grandmother would hate him even more and that’s what he was avoiding. Hence, if they were into disobeying the orders then he had to keep quiet and watch. This thought was already seen through by the girls making them roll their eyes and look at him in disgust since to them, he was just a coward.

“I am just surprised that you have such a powerful backer but the one behind us is more powerful than her. With just one word from us to him, all the werewolf will be wiped out and there is nothing grandmother can do to us! So don’t think you can fool us and get away with it,” Leila said as she glared at the shocked Josiah.

Marcus had a smile on his face upon hearing them. He wondered why he had said all those cowardly things even thinking about their grandfather.

Rubbing her hurt cheek, Elana said, “Someone has to pay for this.”

Everyone looked at her and saw her wounded cheek making them gasp as they wondered who had the guts to hurt her.

“Since I can run to Grandpa and complain, making him wipe out the entire werewolf and lycan, you are the one who will suffer on their behalf. So don’t think I will go easy on you! Nothing will make me change my mind and we will never trust you! You better know how you will communicate to the people behind you and tell them what I have just said,” Elana said coldly, making everyone flinch.

Josiah clenched his fist as he wondered what would happen to him. From what he could tell from his ‘master’s’ words today, the old man was not going to help him at all. He had himself to clean up the mess he created. At the same time, he wondered what he had to say that would not be considered lying when he was prohibited from telling anyone about his mission, who he really was and the person behind him.

He wished that he could tell them the truth but knew that the punishment he would receive after doing that was even more than the one being given by the girls.

“Ooh, make sure he is kept in the worst cell in the kingdom. Since he is a werewolf and the werewolf survives by eating meat, make sure to only serve him with meat during every meal. Three meals in a day,” Elana said with a smirk on her face, making Josiah grit his teeth.

Both Leila and Marcus chuckled while everyone else was confused by what they were doing. Why would Josiah have to be kept in prison if he was going to be provided with the best meals?

“Are all elders and members of the council present?”
