Chapter 37: Chapter 37

Third POV.

“What do you mean when you say that?” Leila asked as she didn’t understand that sentence.

Marcus’s eyes were also filled with curiosity.

“What I mean is that Josiah is lying about the book, so we should exclude him when finding out the person who took the book,” Elana said calmly.

“No, wait. Why should we exclude him? Also, what do you mean when you say that he is lying about the book and how do you know he is lying when he said he has the book?” Marcus asked as he raised his hand to stop Elana from continuing without explaining more to him.

“Okay. Let me explain why I am saying that. Leila, what did grandpa tell us about the book?” Elana asked her sister while looking at her.

“What? Grandpa says a lot of things and you can’t expect me to remember everything although I am a god for goodness sake!” Leila said while looking at her sister angrily, making Elana sigh.

“Of course with that brain of yours how could I have expected you to remember such a thing?” Elana asked while rolling her eyes.

“Come on. Stop complaining about my brain or it is a memory! Just tell us what grandpa said,” Leila said, making Marcus nod in agreement.

“Fine. When grandpa was telling us about the book, he mentioned our secret language, the family language,” Elana said, making Leila nod.

“He said that the person who wrote it was afraid that it may be stolen by our enemies and used against us so to prevent that, she came up with a different language which has been passed down since then.”

“Yes, I can remember about it now! He said that the book was written in that language. Even though we don't talk in that language, we know it since the husband of the person who wrote it had a gift and capabilities to make all generations know how to read and write,” Leila said happily as she was proud that she remembered something that was said when she was five years old.

“I can’t believe you all proud cause you remember such a little thing,” Marcus said while rolling his eyes making Leila glare at him.

“You are right. As far as I know, grandma was the only child and mom also, even though grandpa and mom are not related by blood because of what happened, he loved her so much and was content and he together with grandmother never got another kid. Mom later gave birth to us so how can Josiah claim that he was about to read the book even after he was a small boy? Also, isn’t the book opened by our blood?” Elana asked.

Hearing all these, Leila as Marcus looked at each other then their gaze fell on Elana. No one spoke since they couldn’t find the right words to say. They didn’t know whether they should defend Josiah or what to do.

“What if the book was left open by his parents?” Leila said after sometime.

“How can a book remain open for years? Also, didn’t he say that his adopted parents had once opened the book?” Marcus asked immediately.

“Guess I can’t defend him anymore,” Leila said as she raised her hands in surrender.

“If we look at what Josiah said previously, I guess we can find out whether there is anything that he said was the truth or not,” Elana said, making the others nod in agreement and then waited for her to go on.

“He said that his mother who abandoned him left the book behind. His adoptive parents had opened the book and tried reading it but they were unable since it was written in a different language. He was able to read the book even though he wasn’t taught that language,” Elana said.

“One we know that Josiah is neither a werewolf or a god. He knows that the book is written in a different language. He knows about our life. He also knows what the book contains. He knows everything about us!” Leila added.

“So the question is, how did Josiah know about the book and everything about our life?” Elana asked.

The room was so silent as they were all thinking of all the possibilities since they all hoped that their assumption was wrong, Josiah was innocent and worth being trusted.

“What if he knows about all of your life since he was always nearby? As we all know, the distance between the kingdom and our pack isn’t so long. After all, one can walk from here to there,” Marcus said.

“So you are saying if it is true that his parents abandoned him near the kingdom, they wanted him to keep an eye on us but not be so close since it would be suspicious?” Elana asked as she looked at him.

“Right. After all, if he was taken in but a regular werewolf or an omega, it would be suspicious as to why he is befriending us or mom since it wouldn’t make us. Also, in our pack, the children taken in from outside are taken and taken care of by the children’s institute. This if that would also happen, it would be impossible for him to carry out his plans,” Marcus explained.

“But how can a person just come to our pack to keep an eye without being noticed or questioned?” Leila asked since she was confused.

“Well, he is coming from the kingdom. Also, from what I have just seen, he is respected so much even by your mate, his family and the council. If he were to use their names to get in our pack, no one would question him or suspect him of anything,” Marcus told her calmly.

“Guess we should be more precautious when it comes to him more than to rogues who know nothing about us and are not close to us,” Leila said.

“You know. He wouldn’t be so suspicious if he didn’t know anything about our lives and gifts but this man knows everything! Everyone up there knows that the book is about our family future and it is written in our family language but they don’t know anything about our lives,” Elana said.

“Maybe we should ask the moon goddess about him."
