Chapter 36: Chapter 36
Third POV.
"What do you mean?" the girls shouted.
Marcus felt as if he was going to suffer a headache in no time if he continued to stay with them but he knew what he should and should not do.
"Yes, the old woman stole the book but she later lost it," Marcus said.
"How are you all sure that the book got lost and not that she is hiding it?" Leila asked as she stared at Marcus.
"Honestly I don't know but that is what I was told," Marcus said, making the girls lower their gaze from him in disappointment.
"I thought you were here to tell us where the book is but guess we were wrong about it," Elana said as she shook her head.
"At least I found out how it was stolen from your family. I am as useless as both of you think," Marcus said.
Elana and Leila rolled their eyes since they were used to him always praising himself when he succeeded in anything no matter how small or big it was.
"Marcus we will see what you see, say thank you or even buy you a gift if you find out who has that book," Leila said, making Elana nod her head while Marcus lowered his in disappointment.
"I think what we should really find out is, who has come down here after the book was lost. Or what do you guys think?" Marcus asked after a few moments of silence.
"Guess you still have a brain," Elana said, making Marcus roll his eyes at her.
"If they were our enemies, they wouldn't have searched so hard for me, I guess. With the book, they would have known my name, the pack, family or even my gifts," Leila said after thinking for a while.
What she had said made sense that no one spoke when thinking about who had the book.
"Then if what Josiah said was true, he is not an enemy," Elana said.
"Yeah. It doesn't make sense. If he was an enemy and had the book then he is aware of all my gifts and current strength," Leila said.
"So it would have been a perfect opportunity to attack right now instead of us training so that we can be stronger as we wait for the last battle," Marcus chimed in.
"I think I will have a headache when thinking about this book," Elana said as she massaged her forehead.
"We just need to fight the book as soon as possible because nothing makes sense for real. The old woman was never an enemy. As you said, she stole the book just cause she was aware of what mom was doing down here. Whether she was happy or sad, in danger or had protection. But what about the person who stole from it? What reason did he or she have to take it?" Leila said.
The more the three of them said, the more they felt everything was slipping away from their hands.
"If they were really good people with good intentions they wouldn't have stolen the book. And I can't find any other person who would want that book to know about our family if it weren't the enemies," Elana said.
"Yes. They could have read the book and then returned it to the old woman. If the woman had misplaced it and not stolen it, the person who found it should have returned it to our grandparents. After all, everyone there knows about the book and who it belongs to," Leila added.
"What we should be asking ourselves is how did the book find itself at the hands of Josiah? He isn't a god for all we know. Even though we can tell that he isn't a werewolf, if it were a god we would have known," Elana said.
Marcus was so quiet making the girls wonder what was wrong with him or what he was thinking.
"What are you thinking since you are so serious and quiet?" Elana asked after some seconds of staring at him without seeing any movement from her mate.
"What is on my mind is, if any servant from there comes down here, they would be more special than the other humans. Even the servants have what they do best, they also have gifts," Marcus said after some time.
"What you are trying to say is that if Josiah was a servant there, he can be regarded as a god? But why can't we tell whether he is one or not?" Leila asked as she was confused.
"I don't think that they are like us since we have pure blood from the gods that make us gods by birth and everything unlike them," Marcus said.
"I understand what you are trying to say but that would mean that they are still below us. We should be able to tell if he was one still," Elana said.
"I cogitate we should break everything down so that we can get some ideas of who has the book and whether they are our foes or associates," Leila said, making the others nod their heads in agreement.
Having been given a go-on signal, Leila took a deep breath before talking.
"The books were with Mom's nanny after being stolen from Grandpa's mansion. It was then stolen by a person whom we don't know yet. The book is believed to be on Earth and not in the godly realm. The enemies whom we will be fighting have been searching for me thus it can't be them. If the one with the book was a good person, he or she should have returned it to our grandparents. And on the other hand, Josiah claims that it was left on his basket by his biological parents before being abandoned."
"So in short, if Josiah really has the book, we can retrieve it then find out his parents and know what they are planning or what assignment was left to Josiah together with the book," Marcus said.
“How did the book come to earth? Also, why leave Josiah near the kingdom together with the book? So, his parents knew the owners of the book but why wouldn’t they have returned it to Grandma herself since they stole it from the godly realm? Or did they want their son to be a spy in grandma’s creation and have something to protect himself with if he was ever discovered?” Leila asked.
"Josiah is lying."
