Chapter 38: Chapter 38
Third Pov.
“Grandma?” Elana and Leila asked at the same time.
“Yes. After all, doesn’t she know everything about her creations?” Marcus asked as he rolled his eyes.
“Well, you are right about one thing. She knows everything about her creations but you forgot that Josiah is neither a Lycan nor a werewolf,” Leila said.
“If I am not wrong, she is supposed to know about everything that happens in her creature's territory. How can she be relaxed when an enemy is in her place? What if he ruins all her plans? She can’t turn a blind eye to everything when her grandchildren are in the land," Marcus explained what he was thinking.
“I guess he is right. We have to try. How can we say that she doesn’t know anything when we haven’t even asked her? Maybe she knows something that will be of help to us,” Elana voiced out.
“Okay, then but you are the one who will do that. I am too lazy to do anything," Leila said as she laid back on the bed making the two roll their eyes.
“So lazy to do anything? Then why are you talking? Isn’t talking about doing something even if there is no workload?” Marcus said as he rolled his eyes making Leila glare at him.
“can’t you guys stop bickering for once? I was calling out to her. What if she came immediately? I called her and met you bickering?” Elana asked as she glared at both of them.
“She would have blamed Marcus not me,” Leila said as she folded her hands.
“What would I blame Marcus and not you?” A voice said, startling them.
Leila pouted as she faked tears.
“Grandma,” Leila called out, making everyone look at her.
Marcus was shocked when he saw tears on Leila's cheek while Elana just shook her head as she knew what her sister was doing.
“My baby. Why are you crying? Marcus! I heard her saying your name! Is it your fault that she is crying?” The woman in a white dress asked coldly.
Marcus, who was shocked, got more confused. When he looked at the woman he felt cold. His mind was blank as he didn’t know what to say. He had always been afraid of their grandmother since he was little and knowing that he might be in trouble didn’t help at all.
“I am asking you a question and it seems you opt not to answer! Is this what you were taught by your parents? My grandchildren have more discipline and they were brought up in this place unlike you who have always been amid gods!” The moon goddess said coldly.
“no, no. It isn’t…i…i…" Marcus stammered as he didn’t know where to start or what to say to make the woman stop being angry.
He looked away from the woman and his eyes fell on Leila only to see her laughing under the duvet but she was still peeping to see what was happening.
Upon noticing his gaze, Leila stuck her tongue out at him before covering herself. Marcus wished that he could just knock or slap her for what she had cost him.
“What? You can’t talk now? Elana? What kind of a mate do you have!”
“Granny? Have you forgotten that you were the one who chose him for me? Didn’t you say that he is the only perfect guy there for me?” Elana asked as she pretended that she was thinking.
“well…”
“You just keep blaming Marcus when you find Leila. Have you forgotten her character?” Elana asked as she looked at her grandmother.
“I know her very well but how can I find fault with my granddaughter?” The moon goddess said, making both Elana and Marcus speechless.
They opted to remain silent since it seemed nothing would make a difference.
“Moon goddess, I summoned you here since I have a question,” Elana said after some time.
Hearing how Elana had addressed her, everyone knew that they had shifted into talking about a serious matter. Leila quickly sat up and looked at them.
“What do you want to know?” The moon goddess asked but she didn’t look surprised. It was as if she was waiting for them to summon them.
“About Josiah. He claims that he has sow of the blood," Leila said.
“And what do you think? Do you believe what he says?” The moon goddess asked as she looked at each of them trying to read their expressions.
“No. There are a lot of loopholes in his story. Also, he isn’t a werewolf or a lycan," Marcus said, making the moon goddess raise her eyebrows at him.
“Seems you have found your voice back,” the moon goddess said with a smirk on her face making Leila laugh, Elana smiled while Marcus turned his head due to embarrassment
“Josiah claims that he could read the book since he was little as he could understand the language but we are wondering how that is possible since one has to open the book with our family blood,” Elana said.
“True. Let me ask you a question. How then did your mother's nanny open the book after stealing it from us?” The moon goddess asked, making them speechless since they had not thought of that.
“I…maybe she had used mom's blood?” Leila asked innocently.
“Explain yourself.”
“What I mean is, the nanny knew mom would be coming down here. So maybe she had been planning how to steal the book even before Mom came here. If what I think is true then, I am sure she had also come up with a plan on how to open it. Who knows, maybe she had taken mom's blood with her,” Leila explained her words.
“Guess our baby girl is getting wiser with each passing day,” the moon goddess said with a smile.
“But it is obvious Josiah never used that method. He saw he started reading the book when he was a child and he and his adoptive parents opened it. I am sure the nanny could read the book since she has stayed with you all for a long time,” Elana said.
“You should all trust Josiah.”
