Chapter 25: Chapter 25
Third POV.
All eyes turned to Leila when they had the questions. Seeing that, Josiah let out a sigh of relief in secret as he smirked at how stupid everyone in the room was. Even though the sisters had discovered that he wasn't a werewolf, they were still inexperienced when facing him. Nonetheless, he knew that whatever he had done to Lisa had not taken over her mind entirely because if it had, she wouldn't have stammered when answering their question. Thinking of this, his eyes darkened but he didn't dare turn around to look at her cause it would be suspicious and he couldn't let them start investigating him currently.
"Why aren't you talking?" Aiden asked Leila when he noticed that she didn't have the intention of answering the question.
"Cause I don't trust him. There is something weird about this old man," she said while a frown as she looked at Josiah then diverted it.
"But you all heard that he is a werewolf. He is one of the oldest people in the kingdom and has always helped out where he can when we are in danger," the old king said.
Hearing the words from the old king, Leila let out a sigh of desperation because she guessed that the people in the room apart from Elana and Marcus would not believe a single word she said.
As if he could read what was on her mind, Aiden frowned a bit while playing with Leila's hair before whispering in her ear, "I trust you mate."
Hearing his whisper, Leila looked at Aiden with confused eyes as she wondered how he could read her thoughts when they had not yet found the bond through the mate process. Seeing her confused look, Aiden chuckled before shaking his head.
Thinking that she had been overreacting and had a lot of things on her mind, Leila shook her head before a lot of emotions hit her due to Aiden's words. Tears threatened to come out but she put on a brave look as she knew that it would only make her family and mate worried as they wondered what had happened to her.
"You can answer him, since dad trusts him, we should too. We can investigate him later on," Aiden said while looking at Leila before diverting his gaze and looking at both Elana and Marcus who were on Leila's left side.
Hearing his words, the family of three looked at each other before nodding their heads in agreement to Aiden.
"Yes, I did," Leila answered Josiah's question after a few moments. She said this while her eyes were on Josiah as she wondered why he wanted to know and what he will do after doing.
"I know that you still doubt me but please trust me that I am here to help you and not harming you," Josiah said softly as he looked at the young innocent lady lying on the bed with her huge round eyes on him.
"If you really want us to trust you and tell you everything, I guess that you also have to tell us everything about you. We shouldn't lie to each other, right?" Leila said as she looked at everyone in the room at a time.
Hearing her words and questions, they all nodded their heads since they knew what kind of danger happens when people working together hide things from each other. Even though Lisa had proved that Josiah was a werewolf, they were not month old kids who didn't know a shit about the cruel world. They were all old enough to sense that Josiah was hiding something from everyone since he had been panicking when Elana had asked him who he was. Nonetheless, the opted to turn a blind eye to it and focus on the main issue as they hoped that Josiah will not bring them any harm since they choose to trust him despite of knowing that something wasn't right.
"See, they all agree so if you won't tell us what you are hiding then be sure that I won't trust you fully and answer your questions. The only reason I did is because his majesty trusts you fully. Since they opt to do so, please do not turn your back on them and break that trust," Leila said as her eyes never left Josiah's figure.
Due to this, she got on a guilty expression when she said that before he had his emotions under control.
"Okay, I heard you," Josiah said as he nodded his head like a little child who had just gotten out of being lectured by the parents. However, he still chose to remain silent and pretend that he wasn't hiding anything from them.
"Since we have come to an agreement, can you please tell us what your agreement is with your darkness,"Josiah said after a while.
Hearing his question, they all shook their heads as they wondered whether Josiah was really wise as they had known him to be or had he always been this dumb.
"The name is Amaya not just 'my darkness'," Leila said with a sarcastic face.
"Okay. Can you tell us about your agreement with Amaya?" Josiah asked once more.
Shaking her head, Leila pretended as if she didn't hear him and her eyes roamed around the room as if she was looking for someone.
"Are you okay?" Leila asked softly immediately her eyes fell on Aurora.
Even though she had seen and heard her after waking up, Leila did not forget that Aurora had fought the rogues just for her to be safe. Thinking of this once more, she felt delighted since she could figure out that her mate's family had already approached her. Nonetheless, she wondered whether they could have been behaving the same if she was the old Leila without a wolf.
"I am okay. You need to get well soon so that I can take you around the palace," Aurora said with a smile because she was satisfied that Leila had not forgotten about her. Initially, she was afraid that Leila's darkness would take over and kill her.
Leila nodded her head before looking back at Josiah. She looked at him deeply and coldly.
"I won't be getting rid of my darkness, Amaya. Never."
