Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Third POV.

Some were shocked while others were confused but to Aiden, it was as if he had been rejected. He had never expected that Leila would reject him after what she had been through previously.

"How dare you! Are you saying in other words that you are rejecting my son?" the old king said as he held his cane firmly.

Hearing the question, the elders understood why the old king was angry. They had been told previously that Elana had gotten rid of her darkness completely by being marked by Marcus.

On the other hand, Leila was confused as she didn't know the reason behind the old man's anger and question. She averted her gaze from them and looked at her mate. Seeing the hurt expression on Aiden's eyes and his hands which had been holding hers withdrawn, Leila was speechless and at the same time confused.

"Dad, you need to calm down. What if....what if," Aurora started stammering, making everyone look at her.

Her face had turned white and became pale while her eyes looked at Leila with fear.

"What's going on Aurora? Why does your face look as if you have seen a ghost?" Matthew asked.

"What if it is not Leila saying those words but her darkness? What if her darkness has found a way to be out without Leila's eyes turning black completely? What if it has been pretending to be Leila all this while?" Amanda asked as her eyes were still on Leila.

Hearing that, everyone apart from Elana, Marcus and Josiah looked at Leila with fear. Seeing the fear in their eyes, Leila was dumbfounded as she wondered why they thought it was Amaya and not her.

'Did they think that that old witch could talk to people calmly and softly?' she asked herself inwardly only to feel a punch from inside. She bowed her head immediately.

'Who the hell are you calling an old witch?' Amaya voiced out in Leila's head.

"You of course. You are the old witch," Leila's wolf replied inside her head too.

Knowing that a fight might break out between the two, Leila rolled her eyes as she shut them up not caring what would happen to the two of them as long as they did not hurt her at all.

“You are all wrong it is Leila not her darkness Amaya,” Josiah said calmly making the others sigh in relief.

However, that did not help since they wondered why Leila would opt to reject Aiden, her mate rather than getting rid of her wicked darkness.

Seeing that the situation was getting worse and she did not know what was going on, Leila had no other choice than just to turn to her sister, giving her confused and questioning eyes.

"What's going on? Why do you think that Leile is rejecting Aiden by saying that?" Elana asked, trying her best to control her anger since she hated people hurting her sister the most.

She guessed why they were behaving in that manner but she later shook that idea off cause to her, no one knew that she possessed some powers.

"When we were in the conference room, Josiah told us that you once had darkness in you and that you had gotten rid of it when you were marked by your mate and mated," Lisa said.

Hearing this, the family of three turned gloomy and they all turned to Josiah.

"Seems that you know a lot about us," Elana said sarcastically but anyone paying more attention felt the coldness of her words.

"I know right? I would have thought he is father if not for the fact that my blood is still calm," Leila chipped in.

Noticing the sarcastic tone and the coldness the words carried, the elders and the old king frowned. Aurora was confused about everything that was happening since she didn't know anything about the sisters or their family background.

"You pretend that you are so wise but in truth, you are so foolish," Marcus blunted out making both Leila and Elana chuckle. Even though they neither nodded their heads nor spoke out, everyone knew that the sisters agreed with Marcus' statement.

"You all should respect me! I am an elder," Josiah said coldly, clearly not pleased with the way they were talking to and about him.

"We could have respected you if you didn't use despicable methods to prevent us from knowing who you really are," Marcus replied.

The elders' eyes turned gloomy as they looked at Josiah but they didn't dare ask any question since they were not as brave as him.

“Why did you all believe what he told you about me? Anyways, that’s not important right now. If Josiah is wise as you all claim then why doesn’t he know that one can have both?” Elana asked.

Hearing that, they widen their eyes in disbelief. Aiden looked at his mate who was already looking at him.

“I can never reject you! You are one of the best things that has happened in my life. Furthermore, wouldn’t grandmother kill me when she finds out that her own granddaughter broke her rule?” Leila said as she reached out to Aiden’s hands.

Aurora was confused as she wondered who their grandmother was and which rule they were talking about. Looking at everyone in the room, she could guess that she was the only person who did not know who they were talking about.

Aiden was relieved and at the same time glad.

"It's a good thing then because how would Leila fight the rogues if she got rid of her darkness?" Aiden asked as his eyes looked at the elders.

Getting the question, they all nodded as they agreed to his words. They knew that everyone would die if Leila got rid of her darkness. If they were even asked, they would find a way for Elana to get back her darkness but they knew that there had to be a reason as to why she chose to get rid of it.

All this while, Elana’s eyes had been on Josiah as she tried to penetrate his head to see what he was hiding but after some time, she got rid of that idea after she remembered her father’s warning.

“Josiah, why do you know things that even my grandparents don’t?”
