Chapter 24: Chapter 24
Third POV.
When Elana heard the question, she hurriedly turned around and her gaze fell on the bed.
Even though they had heard the question, they were afraid that Leila's darkness was the one pretending to be Leila hence they were more precautious.
On the other hand, when Josiah heard the voice, he let out a sigh of relief because the gods had heard his pleas and had mercy on him. However, he did not dare to look on the bed immediately cause he knew that both sisters were doubting him.
Josiah felt someone looking at his every move making him be calm as he prepared to look up and see who it was. Looking up, he met Marcus' eyes.
Marcus' eyes had not left the old man even after Leila's voice was heard. To him, the old man was more doubtful. He had lived in the godly realm since he was child hence he believed what he felt. If it were any other person, he would have already seen through them but in front of Josiah, it was like an opaque wall hitting back on him as he tried to enter the old man's head and mind. Due to this, he was more assertive with what he thought.
The fact that Elana had questioned the man about what he was meant that he wasn't any of them.
Despite the fact that Josiah was under Marcus' eyes, Josiah flashed Marcus an innocent smile which seemed as if he was making a spell under someone.
"Aiden, what's going on?" Leila asked once more when she didn't get an answer for a long time.
Aiden took his mate's hands and held them tightly as he sat beside her. Seeing her eyes clear with no hint of darkness, he sighs in relief as he pecks his mate's forehand.
"We were worried about what was happening in there," Aiden said without looking into her eyes.
What cold he has really said? Tell her that her sister was doubting who Josiah really was? Or that he had nearly lost control? He couldn't bring himself to utter any of them because of the fear that her darkness might take advantage of the situation they were in.
"Sorry for making you all worried," Leila said as she looked at Aiden before her glance turned toward Elana and Marcus.
The two mates had been her family and had lived with them for a long time hence, even though Aiden was her mate, she also knew that they were also worried about her.
Noticing Marcus eyes flashing while his glare never left Josiah, Leila raised her eyebrows cause she wondered what had really happened. Casting her eyes on each person in the room, she then closed her eyes before everything that happened in the last few minutes when she had been sleeping appeared in her eyes.
Josiah rolled his eyes when he realised that Marcus would not stop staring at him before diverting his eyes and looked at Lisa. To him, even though he had just avoided calamity when Leila woke up, he knew that it wouldn't be long before he was asked the same question since he knew that the family of three did not trust him at all.
Lisa, whom he had grown up with since she was a child could be the only one present who could ruin his big plans. His eyes flashed for a second at her while Lisa started feeling dizzy making her stagger and nearly fall if it weren't for the fact that Matthew held on to her.
Leila opened her eyes and immediately looked at Josiah whose eyes were already on her with a frown. Seeing her reaction when she saw him, Josiah's eyes were filled with confusion cause he knew that she had been asleep hence she had not witnessed anything that had happened during that time.
Elana, who had been by her sister's side since she woke up together with Aiden saw her reaction and they turned to look at the person she was looking at. Aiden flashed a complicated look when he wondered why the family of three were doubting Josiah. Even if he didn't know the man too well, his father together with the elders of the kingdom who were also in the councils were and he trusted them so much therefore he believed just like them that Josiah was not a foe to them and could not cause harm to the two sisters.
Elana's face frowned as she looked between her sister and the old man. When she saw how Marcus' eyes were, she knew that his eyes had not left Josiah's figure even after Leila woke up. Just like her who was used to Marcus' reactions, Leila also knew that Elana no longer thought it weird when she saw Leila's gaze on Josiah.
"Who are you?" Leila broke the silence which seemed suffocating in the room.
When everyone apart from Elana heard her questions, she was shocked since they were why she had asked the same question as Elana.
Although Josiah's eyes panicked for a few seconds, he calmed down.
"I am a werewolf of course," he said with an innocent smile on his face.
Shaking her head, Leila asked," You are neither a lycan or a werewolf, who are you?"
Hearing the same question from the two sisters, everyone in the room started doubting whether Josiah was really one of them. Apart from Aurora who didn't know the sister's identity, the others knew that because both Elana and Leila were from the direct blood lineage of the moon goddess, Selene, they could tell whether one is a werewolf, lycan or not. After all, Selene is their maternal grandmother and Selene is the creator of both lycans and werewolves.
"I understand that you all doubt me.but you have to have some trust in me," Josiah said after noticing that everyone's eyes which were full of doubts were on him.
"Why should we trust you? Did we come from the same womb? Do we at least have the same father?" Marcus asked angrily but some people in the room chuckled at his questions.
Elana shook her head before saying, "Give us one good reason why we should trust you. To me, you are very suspicious. Unlike the rogues who are after Leila cause they know a little about her identity and they are still not sure about her gifts, you, Josiah, know more than even we ourselves know."
At the last statement, Elana pointed at herself, Leila and Marcus.
"So tell us Josiah, who are you? And how did you know about us? You know so much and you aren't supposed to," Leila said.
When everyone thought of what Elana said, the more suspicious they became. The elders started blaming themselves for bringing such a person into the room. On the other hand, Josiah had a smile on his face because to him, the girls were more observant, attentive and gifted than he thought.
"Why don't you ask Lisa and we grew up together? That way, you will know whether I am lying or not," Josiah said as he looked at Lisa who was in Matthew's embrace while holding on her head as if she was in pain.
"Lisa, please tell them," Matthew said to her.
"Tell them what?" Lisa asked with a frown on her face.
"Is Josiah a werewolf?" Matthew asked.
"Yes," she answered.
"Have you ever seen him shifting?" Amanda asked.
"Uhm....uhm...sorry can you repeat the question?" Lisa said with a painful look.
"Have you ever seen him shifting from a human to a wolf?" Amanda asked once more.
"Uhm... uhm... I guess so," Lisa answered.
"We need you to tell us the truth, not guessing or nothing," the old king said.
"Uhm... uhm... yes," she answered.
Hearing the answer, Josiah broke into a wide grin. Leila, Elana and Marcus frowned because they found Lisa's answers suspicious from how she was answering them and they also wondered when did Lisa start being in pain. The others sighed in relief cause they didn't know what would have happened if Josiah wasn't a werewolf.
"Now that you all have heard that I am a werewolf, let's go back to the problem at hand. Leila's have you made an agreement with your darkness when you fell asleep moments ago?"
