Chapter 20: Chapter 20
Third POV.
When Aiden heard the guards words, he grabbed the chair he was seated on and pushed it backwards making it fall down as he stood up hurriedly.
He didn't even give the guard a chance to explain further as he strode towards the door.
"Where are you going, Aiden?" his father asked as he shook his head at his son's behavior.
He had always known his son as a man without feelings and never cared about other people even when they are in danger but whatever happened since he found his mate, he found Aiden just like the others. Even though he understood that he was so worried, he couldn't allow him to disrespect the elders in such a manner. After all, no one can say a word before the old men and women in the room. You may be laughing with them in a minute then the next second, they behave as your worse enemy.
Having been on the throne for more than twenty five years, he understood them more than his son did and he had to guide him through and make sure that they elders won't turn against him cause of stupid reasons.
"Dad, Leila...she," Aiden tried saying a complete sentence but he stammered out of fear that something can happen to his mate when he continues to waste his time in that room.
"I understand but you know that it is disrespectful to leave in the presence of the elders without permission," his father reminded him making Aiden grit his teeth with anger.
"What then do you expect me to do, dad? Should I pretend that I haven't been informed another about her? Or do you prefer if I pretended that I wasn't notified? Aiden asked his father loudly while looking at his eyes as if he was trying to see through his father.
"If I am correct, the guard hasn't said yet what is wrong with your mate. You better calm down, get seated and pay attention to what the guard wants to inform you," Lisa said making Aiden clench his fingers.
Some few minutes passed as silence occupied the room.
Filling suffocated by the silence, Aiden gritted his teeth before turning his whole body around and faced them before saying, "Please I am begging you. Let me go and see whether she is fine. You all were once in my situation. You understand how mates are important to us and can't survive without them if they are hurt.
"Go," Eliud, the leader of the elders said as he saw how Aiden was after been informed. He could understand him since he also has a mate and always behave the same as Aiden did even though he is now old.
'Nothing is more weird and greater than a mate bond,' with that thought, Eliud sighed deeply.
Aiden didn't even wait to hear another word before he dashed out of the room as the guards followed him behind.
The atmosphere in the meeting hall was surprisingly colder than it was. Everyone was silent but that did not mean that they weren't trying to figure out what was happening out there. How they wished that Aiden was more calm than he was so that the guard would not have any other choice but to say what happened to Leila.
They looked at each other their eyes full of curiously making it only a few of them who were still calm but if observed deeply, one would notice some different expressions and feelings in their eyes.
"What could have happened?" Lisa voiced her curiously making everyone turn their heads to her and later shook their heads.
"You ask us as if we are there to know what is happening," Matthew asnwered her as he rolled his eyes.
"Its been a few hours after the attack. What if some of the rogues have sneaked in?" Eliud voiced out after some few minutes of silence.
"Maybe we should go and check out what is happening out there," Amanda said as she stood up.
As if seeing that was the clue, the rest stood up and walked towards the door but they waited until the former king got out and they started following her.
"Josiah, Why have you been so quiet? Do you know what is happening?" Mike asked the man beside.
Glancing at him, Josiah shook his head but they knew that there was something he knew but he didn't want to voice it out. Maybe out of fear that he may not be correct.
They walked to the palace's dispensary where they saw some guards guarding the room heavily. After asking to be excused, they walked in to find Aiden and his sister, Elana and Marcus. They were all standing aside without getting near Leila was staring at one place before throwing this.
"Aiden, what's happening?" Mike asked after he saw the situation.
"We don't know, she even doesn't recognize me. She only recognizes Elana but she is calling her a traitor. We don't know what's happening," he explained.
"Shut! All of you shut up! You are nothing but worthless piece of shits!" she shouted as she started throwing things to their direction.
They looked at her eyes which had turned black in color.
"Darkness," Elana and Josiah said at the same time before looking at each other then turned to her.
"You mean the darkness you said she inherited? Which can cause her to cause destruction and harm people?" Matthew asked making Josiah nod in agreement.
"I don't understand. How has the darkness gotten control of her?"
"She fainted as she was healing me, right?" Elana asked without looking at anyone in particular apart from her sister.
"Yes," Marcus answered.
"Fuck you! Sometimes I wonder when you will ever do anything right!" she snapped at her mate making him annoyed.
"Ooh please spare me. What did you want me to do? Avoid her from passing out? She was tired of using her powers," Marcus retorted in a shout.
"Yes, that was what you were supposed to do! You could have made sure that she stayed awake and didn't pass out," Elana said.
"She is right. You were supposed to make sure she didn't faint as she using her powers. She could have slept after completing the task and back from the gods spiritually place," Josiah exclaimed making everyone stop talking as they were digesting what he said.
"Who are you? How do you know about that and humans like you aren't supposed to?" Leila asked.
"Just shut up. Nothing good ever comes from you," Elana shouted at her.
"Don't talk to me traitor. How can I have such a sister? You gave up and got rid of the darkness in you. We would be ruling over this world together. What a shame," Leila said as she pretended to be pitiful as she said those words.
"And I am glad that I did even if it took years to do it. Now, you better go back to your sleeping place and return my sister to me," Elana said as they glared at each other.
"Never, I am now in control, you all had me locked up in a cage but I am now free," Leila said.
"Trust me, even if you are out of that cage, you will suffer ten times more tha you were when you were in there!" Elana said.
"Continue dreaming. You should be trying to find how you will live with me. After all, even if you are a traitor, you are still my sister. We don't want mam to be mad at you, right?" Leila said.
After seeing that Elana was now silent and her facial expression had changed, she chuckled then laughed out loudly.
"Leila, you need to wake up and come back," Elana said softly making Leila stop laughing and glare at her.
"She won't hear you. She is in a deep sleep and I will make sure she never gets out of there," the new Leila said.
"Open your eyes child, your sister is now fine and awake. She is waiting for you to come back," Josiah said with his eyes closed.
"Guess this old man is more experienced than I thought. Anyways, I will give you a chance to see whether you will succeed. I am in a good mood today but after today make sure I never cross paths with you since I will kill you," she said.
"Your distractions won't work. I know what you are trying to do. Inside, you are panicking like a scared cat. Too bad you aren't one," Elana said.
"Shut up traitor!"
"Yeah, I am a traitor so don't forget I know how to get rid of the darkness. I have been fighting it for years so better think twice since you are not a match for me! You have been locked up for years so you don't have enough strength to cause destruction," Elana snapped and they saw Leila trembling making them sigh in gladness.
"Light come, darkness leave. Light prospers, darkness loses. Light acts, darkness sleeps..."
"Enough! Enough! Why do you hate me so much?" Leila interrupted Elana as she closed her ears.
Turning a deaf ear, Elana continued and Leila started shaking vigorously while screaming. After some minutes, she passed out.
"What happened?" Aiden asked.
"The darkness is stronger than I thought! She is still fighting," Josiah said as he shook his head helplessly.
