Chapter 16: Chapter 16

After I left the throne room, I went straight to my room. There's no way I'll go and look for Elmira. It isn't like I was the one who told her to run away in the first place. I sat down on the bed, resting myself on the wall. I groaned. I still don't understand why my mom just likes to disturb and frustrate my life. I hissed. Why the hell will she think of running away in the first place?. Didn't she think about Amaya, her sister. I lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

Now I'll have to look for her because of Amaya. I had promised to keep the sister safe. Even though I only promised her once, I feel so tied to the promise, that right now, I feel I have broken the promise. I sat up. I'll go look for her tomorrow but right now, I need to paint or do other things to keep my mind away from her. I left the room and went to my studio.

**

Mom walked into my room, with a sorrowful face. She glared at me and I groaned. "You're still in here?" She yelled

Mom wants me to go for a meeting in the Island pack. They sent a message through someone this morning, saying something about needing me as their Alpha or something. Though I wasn't fully interested in the conversation. I was still able to get a few pieces of information. I wanted to go to the meeting first but mom wants me to look forΒ  Elmira, before going for the meeting. "Damien, I'm talking to you," mom said, jolting me out of my thought.

I rolled my eyes. "Mom, as you can see, I'm getting ready already"

She hissed and sat down. "You've been saying this for over an hour now and I can't even see any sign that you will be ready soon"

I scoffed. "I can't go naked, remember"

"I don't care if you go naked or not"

I smirked. "Come on, mom. You don't have to be harsh"

She hissed. "I'm not been harsh, ok. I'm just been truthful"

I rolled my eyes. "I'll do fast, mom, and go for the meeting"

She hissed. "You're not going for the meeting first. You go look for Elmira first"

I rolled my eyes. "Mom?"

She hissed. "That girl is out there, in cold. Do you even have a heart, Damien?"

I rolled my eyes. "I wasn't the one who asked her to run away, remember?"

She stood up. "I've known you to be heartless. But I don't care. Now get ready fast and meet me in the throne room. You're going after Elmira first" she yelled

I groaned but nodded anyway. I walked in the direction of my closet. I waved at her. "Bye mom". She hissed and walked out of my room. I chuckled. I entered into my closet to get a simple shirt and pants. When I was done, I wore my sneakers, combed my hair, and packed it into a man's bun.

I picked up a few things and walked out of the room. Gary was already waiting for me outside. He bowed. "Good morning, my lord"

I nodded. "Wait for me by the car. I want to see the Queen"

He bowed. "Ok, my lord"

I went straight to the throne room. Mom was pacing around. "Mom, are you, ok?"

She turned in my direction. "I just got news from an informant"

I sat down. "About what?"

"It's about Elmira"

Why is everything about Elmira?. I hissed?. "What's up with her?"

She sighed. "She's at the Voltras' territory. I don't know how real it is, though". My eyes switched. What the heck is she doing there?.

Voltra is the deadliest of all the vampires' covens. They are well known for their cunningness and brutality. If she is there, that isn't a piece of good news. They won't even think of sparing her. I hissed. This girl is so stupid.

"You have to hurry, Damien" Mom said, jolting me back to reality. "Remember she's your mate!" She added.

I hissed. "She isn't my mate. I already rejected her"

She hissed. "I don't care. Just make sure you bring her back"

I sighed and stood up. "I'll bring her back but if I bring her back here, mother. You have to let her go back to her people or you take full responsibility for her"

She hissed. "It's your responsibility to take care of her. She's your responsibility"

I groaned. "She isn't my responsibility, ok"

"I'm not in for your argument. Just go and make sure you bring her back"

I sighed and left the throne room. I went to the tb4 car pack. Gary bowed. "Welcome, my lord"

I nodded. "Let's go". He opened the door for me and I entered but stepped out immediately. "Gary, you have to stay back, ok"

"My lord, I've I wronged you?"

I shook my head. "No, you're human. It's going to be dangerous. Go have some rest"

He bowed. "Ok, my lord"

I watched him leave before entering the car. I drove out of the palace in search of Elmira. I had to drive through a narrow path, which leads to the voltras' territory. When I got to a place, just a few meters away, I parked the car and stepped out. I'll go on foot, so it will be easier tracking her down.

**

It's been over two hours now and I haven't seen her. I groaned and brushed my hair backward angrily. "Ah!!" I punched the wall aggressively. Where the heck can she be? Huh?. I've been searching everywhere to no avail. "Maybe I should go deep into the contrast territory," I thought. No, she can't be there.

"But she isn't here, either," my subconscious mind said. I hissed. "Listen, Damien. The only option, opened for you right now, is to go into their territory"

I rolled my eyes. She can't be there. If she is, then it's fruitless. I'm sure she will be dead by now. I hissed. "You know she isn't. If she is, your heart will have felt it". I hissed. I already rejected her. So I can't feel her heartbeat. "Why don't you give it a try, huh?" My subconscious mind said

I rolled my eyes. It's right, I'll go into their territory and see if she's there.

**

I was already losing hope of seeing her. I felt she might be dead and decided to go back before I get noticed. I was about to leave when I heard a faint heartbeat. I stopped promptly and sniffed the air. It's a human heartbeat. Whosoever it is in great distress. I ignored it and made to, leave but something kept holding me back. I groaned and followed the sound.

Someone was lying on the floor. It was a small figure. I walked closer to the figure and was met with a surprise. "Elmira?"

I rushed towards her and tried raising her. "Long time no see, friend," someone said from behind. I turned to see the shock of my life. "Arden?"

He used to be my best friend until he betrayed me. He smiled. "Nice meeting you again, friend"

I hissed. "What are you doing here?"

"I should be asking you that. Here's my territory, remember?". I scoffed. "Are you here for your mate?"

My eyes switched. "You said what?"

"You heard me. Or isn't she, your mate?"

I hissed. "No"

He smiled. "That's good news"

"What do you mean?"

He smirked. "Well I just found out she's my mate"

My eyes switched. That can't be. He's joking right. I laughed. "Like I care"

He chuckled. "I heard you rejected her. I'm so happy. I can mark her now"

I glared at him. Is he being serious? "You won't dare"

He laughed. "I already did. Can't you see"

I turned to look at her. She was groaning. I hissed. I move closer to her and raised her to check her neck. There wasn't any sign of a bite. I sighed. He chuckled. "You have nothing to worry about, Damien. I don't need her yet. When I do, I'll mark her"

I rushed to him and held his neck. He coughed. "If anything happens to her. I promise I'll kill you"

He laughed. "You better leave with her now that you have the time. You know where you". I glared at him and smiled. I shoved him aside and went back to carry Elmira.

"If I see you anywhere close to her. I'll kill you. You know I don't give an empty threat"

He laughed. I glared at him and finally left the territory. I was burning in anger. If he dares come near her again. I'll kill him!!.
