Chapter 17: Chapter 17

The drive back to our territory was frustrating. I was damn angry. My mind kept drifting back to Arden's words. What if he's right about having her as his mate?. I shrugged off the feeling and turned back to see if Elmira was awake but she wasn't. By the time I got to the palace, it was already getting dark. I stopped the car and stepped out with Elmira. I wanted to take her to the Queen's room but I had a second thought. Amaya might be with mom. I won't want her to see her sister in this state.

I took her to my room and dropped her on the bed. She whined a little, eyes still closed. After making sure, she was comfortable, I went straight to mom's room to tell her the news. Two guards announced my presence. I opened the door with my eyes and walked in. Mom stood up instantly. "I've seen El..."

She placed her hand on her lips. "Sush. Amaya is here" she whispered. I turned to look at Amaya who was sleeping peacefully.

I still don't understand why mom keeps Amaya with her. Maybe it's because she wanted Elmira to trust her. I hissed. "Can't she just let them go back to their territory?" I thought.

"Damien?" Mom called, jolting me out of my thought.

I rolled my eyes. "Yes, mom?"

She walked closer to me. "How is she?".

"She's fine. I was able to get to her just in time. But there is a problem"

She furrowed her brows. "What's the problem?"

"I meet with Arden"

She widened her eyes. "He's back?"

I nodded. "I saw him at the Voltras' coven"

"I thought he went with his kindred"

I sighed. "I thought so too. His coming back isn't the problem. The problem now is he knows Elmira is my mate and he thinks she's his mate too"

She narrowed her brows. "How come?"

I hissed. "I don't know"

"Do you now see why you need to guard her?"

I hissed. "I ain't doing that. Just because Arden knows she's my mate doesn't mean I need to guard her"

She held my hand, caressing it. "She's your other half. You..."

I dragged my hand, off. I won't be deceived. "She isn't my other half. I already rejected her. He can have her for all I care!!"

She chuckled. "I don't think you do, Damien"

"Of course I do"

"No, you don't. If you do, you wouldn't have gone after her to save her"

I hissed. "I did that for you and Amaya"

"You did it for yourself"

I rolled my eyes. "Can we not talk about this?"

She chuckled. "Where is she?. Was she hurt?"

I shook my head. "She wasn't hurt. Just a little shock or so"

She sighed. "Where is she now?"

I rolled my eyes. "In my room. Though she's asleep"

"Can I see her?"

I nodded. "Sure"

We left her room for mine. Elmira was still asleep when we walked in. Mom sat on the bed close to her. She touched her face and smiled. "Isn't she beautiful, Damien"? I ignored her question and went to sit on the couch. She turned in my direction. "Thanks, Damien"

I furrowed my brows. "For what?"

"For bringing her back"

I hissed but not loud enough to her hearing. As if I have a choice. She stood up. "Damien, can you help me do something?"

"What?"

She chuckled. "Can you help me prepare her bath when she wakes up?"

I hissed. Is she for real?. "I won't do that"

"Come on, can't you see she needs it"

I shook my head. I don't care!!. "No, I won't do that. When she wakes up, she's leaving my room"

"Damien..."

I stood up from the couch. "Don't even try to talk me out of it, ok?. If you care about her that much. You can sit and wait for her to wake up so you can prepare her bath. As for me, I'm out of here". I walked out of the room and went to my studio to paint.

**

It's been two days since I brought Elmira back from the Voltras' territory. Things have come back to normal too. Yesterday, I went to the Island pack to have a meeting with the elders. This time, it was partially a fruitless meeting. Fruitless because I said no, to their offer. They wanted me to be the Alpha of the pack, not because they love me but because they felt my ruthless and cold-hearted attribute will keep them safe from been attack by other packs. Mom was furious when she heard I rejected the offer but I don't care!. Now, mom has refused to talk to me about that.

I walked into the training room, dressed in my training cloth, with Gary trailing behind. He was holding my sword and a few other things, I might need. "Drop it over there" I ordered. I did some little training first, before picking up the sword. "Get your sword, Gary"

He did as he was told and faced me. We bowed to each other before we begin to clash our swords. We kept attacking and defending until I was able to fall down his sword and make him surrender. I placed the sword on his neck. The door opened, making me move away. I furrowed my brows. Who the heck is that?. Amaya walked in with a tray and I blinked my eyes. I couldn't even get angry with her. "Amaya?"

She bowed. "Yes, my lord"

I chuckled. She isn't like her sister. "What are you doing at the training ground?"

"The Queen asked me to bring you this". She furrowed her brows. "Or did I disturb your training?"

I shook my head. "No"

She chuckled. "I'll drop it over there then"

I nodded. She walked to the end of the room and dropped the tray. She turned in my direction. "Thank you"

I narrowed my eyes. "For what?"

"For bringing my sister back the other day. I couldn't say thank you for the last time"

I nodded. "My pleasure"

She smiled. "I'll leave now, my lord". She turned to leave but stopped. "My lord?"

I raised my head. "I want to learn how to fight. Can you teach me?".I burst out laughing. Is she serious?. She pouted her lips. "I'm serious"

I rolled my eyes, trying hard not to laugh. "You're for real?" She nodded. "Why will you want to do that?"

"So I can save my sister whenever she's in trouble". I smiled. She's got good reason. "But my sister wouldn't teach me. Will you teach me, my lord?"

I sighed. "Call me Damien?"

She chuckled. "Will you teach me, Damien?"

I sighed and walked close to her. "Amaya?". She stared at me. "Aren't you afraid of me?". She shook her head. "Why?"

She chuckled. "Because my sister said you're a good person"

I furrowed my brows. "Your sister?"

She nodded. I rolled my eyes. Elmira told her that?. I sighed. "And you believe her?"

She nodded. "Yes. You've proven that to me, by saving my sister"

I rolled my eyes. Amaya, you don't know me. I hope you don't get to see the real me. "My lord?" She called, jolting me back to reality.

I groaned. "Just call me Damien, ok?"

She nodded. "Damien, will you teach me?"

I sighed. "How old are you?"

She chuckled. "Fifteen?"

I rolled my eyes. "Do you want to learn how to fight?". She nodded. I smiled. I love her spirit. "I'll teach you". She chuckled and hugged me. "But..."

She furrowed her brows. "But what?"

"You will keep it away from your sister". She nodded. "Do we have a deal?". She nodded and I smiled. "Good. Take a position. Training starts now!!"
