Chapter 13: Chapter 13

People kept staring at us as I drag her through the hallway. I glared at them and some scurried away. Others took their gaze off. Elmira whined and I turned. She was trying to free her hand from mine. "It hurts"

I stopped promptly releasing my grip. Her hand was red. I realized I must have held her hand tightly due to my anger. "Sorry" I cooed. She stared at me in shock while I rolled my eyes. I turned back towards my room. "Let's go"

She followed me back into the room and I ordered her to sit down. Thank goodness, the first aid box was still on the table. I bent down to help her treat her hand. She kept whining not so loud though. "Done" I announced but her attention was focused on her hand. I stared at her for a while.

For the first time, I noticed she had little eyes, more like that of a cat. Her lashes were long, making it difficult to tell the color of her eyes, which can only be detected if she widens her eyes.

She blinked her lashes, trying so hard not to cry. I chuckled before I realized it and she raised her head. I composed myself immediately and stood up. "Are you ok, now?". She furrowed her brows. I rolled my eyes. I pointed at her hand which I had bandaged some minutes ago. "I mean your hand"

She nodded. "Yes"

"Good. Let's head back to the guards' room"

She stood up and we left the room. As we walked through the aisle, I realized my anger had subsided. "Do you know where the guards' room is?"

"No"

I hissed. I just realized I don't even know where the servants stay. I turned to ask someone but those watching us diverted their gazes immediately. I hissed. "Hey, you" I gestured to someone walking in our direction. "Do you know where Eunice could be?"

He furrowed his brows. "I think I saw her..."

"Who is looking for me?" Someone asked from behind. I turned to see Eunice giggling

I sighed. "Thank goodness you're here"

She smiled. "You need help on something?" She asked, staring at Elmira who seems scared. I rolled my eyes. Elmira seems to get extremely scared this day. "Damien?" Eunice called, jolting out of my thought.

"What?"

"I said do you need help on something?". I nodded, staring at the guard. She chuckled. "Melvin, you can leave now"

After he left, I turned in Eunice's direction. "Can you show me to the guards' room, I mean the ones I came with"

She nodded. "Sure. Let's go". We walked past some rooms. "May I know why you going there?"

I rolled my eyes. "When we get there you will know"

She nodded. We got to a room and she stopped. "Here's the room"

I opened the door with my eyes and we walked in. Six guards were seated. They stood up and bowed quickly when they saw me. "My lord"

I hissed, my anger gradually building up. "Raise your head". They obeyed and raised their head. I dragged Elmira forward. "Who among them came to call you?". She stared at them but said nothing. After a while, I got tired and spoke up. "You can't find him or what?"

She shook her head. "I... I... I can't find him"

I groaned. She can't find him?. "Ricky?". The guard bearing the name raised his head.

"Yes my lord"

"How many of you came here?"

"Seven, my lord"

"And where is the seventh person?"

"He left some hours ago, my lord"

I widen my eyes. He did what?. How come? Who let him leave?. I furrowed my brows. "Why did he leave?. Who gave him the right to?"

Eunice sighed. "My dad did. Your mom sent a message to send him back"

I hissed. "Why will she do that?"

"Remember I asked you why you want to come here in the first place?" I nodded. "That's the reason. I wanted to tell you"

I groaned. Why will mom do that?. "Did she give the reason why he needed to leave?"

She looked around and sighed. "I think we need to go back"

I nodded, understanding she might want to tell me in private. "Yeah, we should go"

I turned to the door with Eunice by my side and Elmira trailing behind.

I rested my back on the door, placing my right leg on it. My eyes switched at her words. "You mean my mom, made him do this to her?" I asked almost in a yell

She chuckled. "You're yelling"

I rolled my eyes. Why won't I?. She just told me, my mom made the guard do that to Elmira just to know if I will help her. I think my mom had gone too far. What if she gets hurt or even dies in the process. I rolled my eyes. "Are you sure the bite isn't real?"

She nodded. "It's just a scratch not from his fang though. He only deep his fingers into her skin"

I hissed. "Did he do that right outside my room?"

She chuckled. "No. If he did, you would have noticed"

I rolled my eyes. "And why was she screaming? She was screaming like she needed help"

She sighed. "She was attacked by vampires"

I rolled my eyes. "Was that among the plans?"

She shook her head. "No". I furrowed my brows and she laughed. "It wasn't part of the plan. I think the only mistake he made was leaving her to walk back here alone"

I sighed. Although I'm so angry right now, I'm kinda happy that the bite wasn't real. A few minutes ago, a part of me was scared. Yes, you heard it right. I was damn scared that he might have bitten her to change her or chose her as his mate. "Are you ok?" Eunice asked

I nodded. I think I'm good. Not like real good though. "Thanks for the information, Eunice. You may leave"

She nodded. "Don't forget about the ball. You might get a mate". I hissed and she chuckled. After she left, I went into the room.  Elmira was standing, at the same spot I left her some minutes ago. I walked past her and sat on the couch. I checked the time and It was less than two hours to the ball. I decided to take a walk. I stood up and picked up my jacket. "Listen to me. For no reason should you leave this room, ok?"

She nodded. "Yes"

"I won't send anyone to you. Don't you dare leave without my permission? You're not even allowed to open the door. Do you understand?"

"Yes"

"Now sit down quietly and wait for me". She furrowed her brows and I groaned. "You can sit on the floor for all I care!!"

She moved away quickly and surprisingly sat on the floor. I groaned. It's her choice. I won't tell her to stand up. I walked to the door and turned. "Elmira?" She raised her head. "You had better not break my law". She nodded and I sighed. I walked out and lock the door behind me. Let see if she will keep my law this time or not!!.
