Chapter 12: Chapter 12
I stared at her fragile body lying almost lifeless on the bed. How she managed to leave the room without my notice, still baffles me. I stood up from the bed and walked to the door. Eunice isn't here yet and the bleeding doesn't look like it will stop soon. I opened the door and popped my head out. The hallway looked deserted. I looked around for Eunice but didn't see her.
I decided to wipe the blood off with a towel and maybe water. I went to the bathroom to get a towel and bowl of water and set to work. She whined a bit, eyes still closed, when I touched her face. I rolled my eye. I still don't understand why she prefers to endanger her life always, instead of being a good pet. "It isn't like you treat her as your pet," my subconscious mind said.
I groaned. Why can't everyone understands I don't want a pet and I don't need one. If my mom had understood this from the beginning, I won't be having a problem now. I squeezed the water off the towel and placed it on her forehead. I can't believe I'm doing this!!. There was knocking on the door, which diverted my attention. I dropped the towel into the bowl. "Who is that?"
"Eunice"
I sighed. "Come in"
The door opened slowly and she walked in, staying a bit far from us. She was holding a first aid box. "Sorry I came late"
I rolled my eyes. "It's nothing. You can come close. She isn't bleeding anymore"
She walked closer to us and dropped the box on the table. "I'll take over from here"
I nodded and stood up. I went to the couch and sat down. I watch her do her job. My mind drifted back to my mom's reason for bringing me here. I groaned. Does she think I won't have a mate?. Why will she make me travel all the way here to look for a mate?. And why will she make me travel with Elmira?. I rolled my eyes. I still can't place my hand on it but I'm sure mom has a hidden motive. "What if she thinks Elmira is your mate?" My subconscious mind said.
I burst out laughing before I could control myself, which drew Eunice's attention. "Is everything alright?"
I rolled my eyes and nodded. I can't even imagine that. I lay on the couch and close my eyes but open them immediately. I sat upright. "Eunice?"
She turned in my direction. "Yes?"
"About the spring festival. Why is it celebrated here alone?"
She chuckled. "Because we do have a great sorcerer who can predict the future"
I rolled my eyes and relaxed on the couch. "That isn't a reason. Cause If she can predict the future, why then do they celebrate it once a year? When she can predict anytime she wants?" I thought
"I don't know why. But you can ask my father" she answered
I rolled my eyes. I didn't ask her any questions. I sighed. She must have read my thought. "Are you done?" I asked
She nodded and stood up. "She should be awake in a few minutes"
I nodded. She turned to leave. "Wait!" Ahe stopped. "Do you know why she left the room?"
She shook her head. "No, I don't. You can ask her when she wakes up"
I groaned. "Thanks"
She chuckled and I hissed. I tend to say thank you more often now, especially when it has to do with Elmira. "My pleasure" she answered, jolting me back to reality. I rolled my eyes. "I'll leave now. The ball starts in a few hours. You should get some rest"
I rolled my eyes. Is she for real?. I don't need a rest. What I need is a stroll. "Thanks for your advice though but I'll pass"
She chuckled. "I'll leave you then"
I nodded and she left.

It's been over an hour now since Elmira had been lying on the bed without stirring. Not even for a bit. I moved closer to her and bent to her level. She looked pale and her once glowing body seems to be fading. I touched her lid and tried opening her eyes to see if she will stir but she didn't. I touched her forehead. Her temperature was lower than normal. I know it's lower than her usual temperature, being a hot-blooded human. Unlike we vampires, who are cold-blood.
I groaned and stood upright. The only thing keeping me from getting worried now is because I could hear her heartbeat. I went back to the couch and sat down. I can't even go out, not when she hasn't opened her eyes. I groaned. Why will mother do this to me!!. I heard someone whined and I turned. It was coming from Elmira. It seems she's awake. I stood up quickly. Her eyes were opened and she was trying to sit up. I attempted to support her, which she offered her hand but stopped when she saw I was the one.
She left the bed immediately. "I... I... I'm so sorry. I..."
I rolled my eyes. "Sit" I ordered
"You... You want me to sit?"
I hissed. "Don't make me repeat myself". She obeyed me without further questioning. I wanted to laugh but I decided against it. Let's see how far she will keep up. She kept adjusted herself on the bed and I wondered why. I could feel she might be in pain. I walked back to the couch and sat down. "I'll ask you some questions and I want a straight answer. Don't make me repeat any question. Don't waste time in answering them either. Do you understand?"
She nodded but when I glared at her, she responded. "Ye... Yes my lord"
I relaxed on the couch. I think I like this. "My first question, what were you doing out there alone?". She furrowed her brows. "Do you want me to repeat myself?"
She shook her head. "No, no, no. I... I..." I frowned. She's wasting my time. "I... I was just sitting over there" she pointed at the place I left her to take my bath. "When one of your guards walked in. He said you wanted me to follow him to get..."
"My guard?" I asked, cutting her short
She nodded. "Yes, he said you've got some things you'd like me to bring here, so..."
I hissed. "So you followed him?". She nodded. I groaned. What sort of a girl is this?. "Are you daft?. How could you leave the room without my permission? Huh?" I yelled at her. She jumped up immediately.
I hissed and walked towards her. "I thought you're smart?. How could you leave the room, considering you're the only human here. Why do you think I let you stay in my toom?. Tell me!" I yelled again. My voice was becoming too hard. She was trembling. I moved towards her and she moved backward. She kept moving until her back was on the wall.
I raised my hand and she turned to the side quickly. My eyes caught sight of a mark on her neck. I furrowed my brows. "What's this?". I placed my hand on it and she whined. Isn't this a sign of a bite?. "Did someone bit you?"
She narrowed her eyes. "I..."
I hissed. "Did he bite you?" I asked. This time more calmly, trying to hide my anger and not freak her out.
She shook her head. "I... I don't know"
"Can you recognize him? I mean the guard who came to call you?"
She nodded. Without thinking twice, I dragged her by the hand, out of the room. I need to see the idiot that had done this to her!!.
