Chapter 94: Chapter 94

YOOL already knew that Hwang Frost was the type who only cared about his people.

[This is the same person who almost froze Seoul to death. He didn’t care if people died because of the cold. So, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t care about me either.]

Hence, he needed to ensure his safety first.

"If I get so much as a scratch, then Wony will be upset," Yool declared, leaning against the chair. "Don’t you know how much she treasures me?"

Hwang Frost raised an eyebrow at him without saying a word.

Yool suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

[Why is this kid scarier when he’s quiet than when he’s cursing?]

"B-But Wony doesn’t like me romantically, okay? And I don’t like her that way either."

"I know," Hwang Frost said bluntly. "You don’t seem to be interested in women anyway."

"Hey, did you just assume my sexual orientation?"

"I’m not obligated to disclose my sexual orientation to you."

Hwang Frost grinned. "See? You’re not a shrimp."

"I’m still weak as fuck, so treat me like I’m a shrimp– please."

Hwang Frost suddenly fell silent, the warm air around turning into a cold breeze again.

Yool thought he would have a heart attack when Hwang Frost suddenly threw an ice dagger at him.

[This is why this lunatic is scary when his mouth is shut– he’s in "killing mode!"]

Fortunately for Yool, he wasn’t the lunatic’s target.

"Yejun-ah, don’t scare the poor Civilian."

Song Moonho appeared.

The old man draped his expensive suit over Yool’s shoulder with one hand while his other hand caught the ice dagger.

And the ice dagger in question was now melting between Song Moonho’s fingers.

The old man probably used his Ghost Mode Skill again to sneak up on them.

[Hwang Frost is really a monster for detecting Song Moonho.]

"And stop making it cold here," Song Moonho said, sitting next to Yool. "The Fall Guildmaster will kick us out if he finds us annoying."

Hwang Frost paused for a moment, and then his face lit up. "Oh. Is Cyborg Hyung back?"

"Yes, and I met him earlier. That’s why I’m late. I apologize for that, by the way."

Yool knitted his eyebrows.

[The Fall Guild’s Guildmaster is Ahyeonnie’s elusive boss. But why is Hwang Frost calling him ’Cyborg?’]

"Yejun-ah, why do you call the Fall Guildmaster ’hyung’ but not me?"

"Old man, grow some conscience. You’re old enough to be my father."

"I’m forty and not fifty years old, Yejun-ah."

"Well, you look like someone who has a secret child that he fathered when he was a teen?"

Yool couldn’t help but laugh at Hwang Frost’s witty remarks that left Song Moonho stunned (and clearly offended).

[This is why they need me– these two can’t hold a normal conversation!]

"Yool-ssi, you’re hurting my feelings," Song Moonho complained, but he was smiling at Yool as if Yool was adorable. "But I’ll forgive you because you look cute."

That comment immediately made Yool frown. "Don’t call me that. I have PTSD from being called ’cute.’"

Back when he was Ong Yool, a top-tier idol, he was forced to do ’aegyo’ all the time.

It was fucking cringey, but he had to endure it for the sake of his career.

"You’re adorable, Yool-ssi."

Yool glared at Song Moonho. "Are you for real?"

Song Moonho’s gaze landed on Yool’s clenched hands. "You can hit me, Yool-ssi. But I’m afraid you might break your hand. Hitting an S-Class Hunter is like punching an iron wall..."

"Then should I punch you for Gong Yool, old man?"

Song Moonho turned to Yool with a smile. "Yejun-ah, I’m not your father. I can and will hit you back."

Yool let out a frustrated sigh, and then he dropped a bomb that would make Hwang Frost and Song Moonho stop fighting. "The psychotic villain who can make a high-class Guide lose their Guiding abilities smells like camellia flowers."

Hwang Frost and Song Moonho turned to Yool, and the two natural S-Class Hunters had never looked so intimidating than at that moment.

[I feel like getting crushed by the pressure these two lunatics are giving off.]

Yool suddenly felt so small, but he gathered all the courage left in his trembling body. "First of all, let me say this: I’ll cooperate with you and tell you everything I know. But, in exchange, you won’t force me to disclose my source."

Yejun shrugged. "Well, I don’t care about your source as long as the information you give is correct."

"I share the same opinion as Yejun, but let me ask one question," Song Moonho said in a serious tone. "Does Chu Wonhee know this "source" you’re talking about, Yool-ssi?"

"Yes, she knows. Ahyeonnie, too. Only the three of us."

Song Moonho smiled. "I see. You three are really good friends, huh?"

"Old man, don’t you dare pressure Wonhee and the baby herbivore to spit out their source," Yejun warned Song Moonho in a serious voice. "I’m warning you."

Song Moonho raised his hands. "I have no intention of doing that."

[It’s a good thing that Hwang Frost can keep Song Moonho in check.]

"Anyway, is this place safe to talk about confidential stuff?" Yool asked skeptically. "We’re about to exchange classified information here, right? I’m nervous. Why didn’t we just go to your place, Ahjussi?"

"Don’t worry, Yool-ssi," Song Moonho assured him. "No one could eavesdrop on us here. And regarding your other question, it’s not really safe for us to meet at my place. If APA somehow finds out that we gathered at my place, they would get suspicious. However, I made it look like it was just a coincidence that we booked the same restaurant on the same day. The Fall Guildmaster personally arranged this meeting place, so it’s safe to talk here."

"Alright," Yool said, and then he paused for a moment. "So, let’s begin exchanging information now."

"Repeat what you said earlier," Yejun said. "About the camellia flowers."

"You said you have no useful information related to the person who caused Ahn Kisoo to lose his Guiding abilities," Song Moonho said. "Did you ask your source after we talked about Ahn Kisoo’s state?"

"Yes," Yool lied with a straight face. "My source isn’t done with their research, so that’s all I have for now."

"You know what’s more interesting?" Yool asked, and then he answered his own question. "We suspect that Park Ruda tampered with Wony’s memories... and he also smells like camellia flowers."

Yejun’s face darkened. "Old man, do you know about what an Irregular is?"

That sounded very familiar to Yool.

[But then again, I’ve read way too many novels where the main character is an Irregular Wizard, Irregular Ranker, Irregular Student, etc.]

Having said that, Yool still felt like there was something important he should remember.

"I’ve met an individual that the System identified as an ’Irregular’ before."

Yool and Hwang Frost were both surprised by what Song Moonho said.

But the old man wasn’t done speaking yet.

"The System refused to answer my questions back then, so this is only my theory," Song Moonho said. "But I believe Irregular Awakened People are people who worship the System as their god."

Awakened People who worshipped the System?

Yool gasped when he remembered something. "The cult...!"

[I’m this world’s cheat code!]

Wonhee, who was sitting in the backseat of the car, looked up when her Status Window suddenly popped up.

"Is everything alright, Noona?" Ahyeon, who was driving, asked worriedly while glancing at her in the rearview mirror. "Did the System give you another dangerous mission?"

"No," Wonhee said while shaking her head. "It’s asking me if I want a ’Legendary Friend.’"

"That sounds suspicious, Noona."

She nodded in agreement. "System-nim, I don’t want a new friend– I want Tannie back. I haven’t seen him since he sent me to Yejun via teleportation."

Fortunately, the System gave a response.

[So, that’s how the System addressed Tannie.]

"Please don’t punish Tannie too much, System-nim," Wonhee said, almost pleading. "I wasn’t hurt anyway."

"Yes," Wonhee said right away. "Please bring Tannie back to me."

"Thank you, System-nim."

"Huh?" she asked, confused. "But I didn’t say I wanted a new friend..."

She waited for the System to respond, but it didn’t happen.

[The System just said what it wanted to say and then left.]

"Noona, the System insisted on introducing you to a new friend?" Ahyeon asked worriedly. "That’s so s-sketchy."

"I know, right?" Wonhee agreed, and then she paused for a moment. "I’m kinda curious about that friend, though."

"YOU WANT me to pay for these billions of won?!"

Lee Seorin flinched when Kim Minchul, her fiancé, yelled and threw the receipts at the floor.

[I knew this would happen...]

Kim Minchul was rich, but he was stingy with money.

Hence, Seorin had been sucking up to her fiancé ever since she picked him up from the airport. They had been staying in that nice hotel suite since then, and she could see he was in a good mood.

And, so, she thought it was the perfect opportunity to give him the receipts of the money they owed Chu Wonhee.

In an instant, Kim Minchul’s face turned into a demon.

[But I won’t back down.]

"Minchul-ah, you told me to let Chu Wonhee pay in advance for all my wedding expenses," Seorin reminded her fiancé firmly. "You said you’d pay her once you returned from your business trip!"

"Well, I’m banking on the fact that Chu Wonhee wouldn’t let us pay her back because she’s already filthy rich!"

"What? Are you saying you already know that Chu Wonhee is rich from the start?!"

"You and your mother are the only blind ones here!" Follow current novᴇls on novel(ꜰ)ire.net

"Can you blame us?" Seorin complained because she felt offended that her fiancé was treating her and her mother like idiots for not knowing that Chu Wonhee was a chaebol. "Celebrities don’t earn that much these days! Especially Civilian-celebrities! It’s not our fault that Chu Wonhee hid that she’s a chaebol!"

Minchul looked shocked by what she said, and then he burst out laughing. "Chu Wonhee never hid that she’s a chaebol– you’re just too blind to see it because you don’t know what true wealth looks like."

"The basic clothes Chu Wonhee wears are more expensive than your Hunter brother’s monthly salary!"

Private Hunters actually didn’t have a fixed monthly income.

But Hunters working for APA did because APA was a branch of the government. Hence, APA Hunters were considered civil servants and had a higher salary than private employees. And Seodam’s salary increased when he became an A-Class Hunter.

"How could a few shirts be more expensive than Seodam’s salary, huh? My brother earns a lot!"

"It’s a lot for you," Minchul argued, sneering. "The only "luxury" brands you know are the brands that target the upper middle class who want to look rich! But everything Chu Wonhee wears screams silent luxury that people like you would never know! You don’t even know what carrying a Black Card means nowadays!"

"Are you talking about Chu Wonhee’s credit card? Doesn’t it just mean she has a high credit limit?"

"No! It’s an exclusive credit card that’s solely reserved for the ultra-wealthy!" her fiancé explained angrily. "In the past, even top celebrities carry a Black Card. But, after the Outbreak, only the top 0.01% were invited to apply for it. Do you know that I almost had a heart attack when I saw her whip out her Black Card that one time we helped her buy a birthday gift for Seodam?"

Seorin paused for a moment, and then she sneered. "Is that why you treat Chu Wonhee well?"

One of the reasons Seorin started to hate Chu Wonhee was because of how kind Kim Minchul was to that girl.

So, it was only because Minchul knew Chu Wonhee was a chaebol...?

"Had I known your stupid brother would dump Chu Wonhee, I wouldn’t have agreed to marry you."

Now Seorin was in disbelief. "What did you say?"

Minchul turned to her with a blank look on his face. "Our restaurant chain was desperate to open a branch at Sarang-hee Hotel– the hotel that Chu Wonhee owns."

[That famous luxury hotel belongs to Chu Wonhee?]

"But our proposal was rejected again and again," Minchul said in a frustrated voice. "Hence, I was banking on becoming Chu Wonhee’s in-law once we got married. Because I honestly thought your brother would end up marrying Chu Wonhee."

"Are you saying that you only "agreed" to marry me because you wanted to be Chu Wonhee’s brother-in-law? For the sake of your business?" Seorin asked in disbelief, clenching her fists tightly until her nails dug deep into the palms of her hands. "Are you crazy?!"

"Do you think I would willingly marry you knowing that you’re only faking your pregnancy?"

"I know you’re not pregnant, Lee Seorin," Minchul said, sneering. "Do you think I wouldn’t know that you’re faking your pregnancy, huh?"

Seorin let out a gasp, stepping away from Minchul. "H-How...?"
