Chapter 95: Chapter 95
Wonhee plopped down on the couch as soon as she got home.
And, yes, she came home without Yejun.
[Yejun called using Yool’s phone and told me to go home first because he has some business to attend to.]
"I wonder what Yejun is up to," Wonhee said out loud. "I’m also worried about Yool."
"Noona shouldn’t probably worry about Yool Hyung," Ahyeon, who was sitting on the chair across from her, assured her. "Yool Hyung is someone who won’t go down without a fight."
Yool was too sassy to go down without a fight– even if the opponent was the Big 4.
"Ahyeonnie, let’s have lunch since Yejun and Yool told us not to wait for them," Wonhee said, getting up. "What do you want to eat?"
"I’ll have what you’ll have, Noona."
"I’m watching my weight, so I’m thinking of cooking grilled salmon. But will that be enough for you, Ahyeonnie? Growing boys like you should be eating lots and lots of meat. Should we order bulgogi and fried chicken for you?"
Ahyeon chuckled while shaking his head. "Noona, I’m twenty-one years old and not eleven."
"But you eat a lot, Ahyeonnie. You don’t have to eat what I eat."
Ahyeon’s face turned red, and then he smiled shyly. "Then can we make some kimbap, Noona? I’m kind of craving the kimbap Noona makes."
She smiled and nodded. "Okay, I’ll make kimbap for you."
Ahyeon’s face beamed as if he was excited.
[Ahyeonnie will always be a baby in my eyes.]
"Noona, is it really okay to let Hwang Frost-nim wander on his own?" Ahyeon asked worriedly while they were headed to the kitchen. "APA only let Hwang Frost-nim leave their side because of you, Noona."
"Yejun promised that he’ll use his stealth skills so he won’t get caught by APA," Wonhee assured Ahyeon. "And Yejun also promised me that he’ll behave."
"HWANG YEJUN, are you crazy?!"
"Yes," Yejun said without blinking. "What about it?"
Graham, the one who yelled his name while cursing at him, let out a frustrated sigh. "If you were going to do something this crazy in my office, then you should have brought Yool with you. At least, Yool could have lifted my mood instantly."
"How can you say that in front of Ahn Kisoo?"
"No, it’s alright," Ahn Kisoo, who was standing next to Graham, said. "I would have preferred it if Yool-ssi was here as well."
"Why are you two so obsessed with Gong Yool?"
Graham and Ahn Kisoo answered at the same time. "He’s cute."
"And in case you don’t know, because you’ve been locked up for so long, Graham and I are in an open relationship," Ahn Kisoo said bluntly. "You don’t have to worry about the things you misunderstood, Yejun-ssi."
Yejun turned to Graham for confirmation, and Graham just shrugged and smiled defeatedly.
[I sense a disturbance in the force, but it’s none of my business so I’ll just shut up.]
So, Yejun shrugged. "Whatever, I don’t care."
"Why did you freeze my office, huh?" Graham complained. "What did I do this time?"
Yes, Yejun went to the Summer Guild’s Headquarters and headed straight to the top floor that was also Graham’s private office.
And then he froze the entire place.
Now Graham’s office looked similar to the ice bar at the Igloo Village– everything was frozen and made from ice.
[If Wonhee didn’t tell me to behave, I would have frozen the entire building.]
"Have you forgotten?" Yejun asked, leaning against the table covered in ice while crossing his arms over his chest. "You attacked Wonhee in the ."
Ahn Kisoo turned to Graham with knitted eyebrows. "Is that true, Graham-ah?"
"I did it for a reason," Graham argued. "I know that I was wrong to scare Chu Wonhee. But, in my defense, I just wanted her to be aware of the dangers that she might encounter while using her skill."
Yejun raised an eyebrow at Graham. "And who gave you the right to teach Wonhee a lesson? She’s not your person."
"I’m just looking out for her since she’s our S-Class Guide."
"Whatever. Don’t do that again to Wonhee, Han Graham. The next time you scare her in the name of "looking out" for her, I’ll freeze your people one by one."
Ahn Kisoo unconsciously took a step backwards, sensing Yejun’s irritation.
But Graham also released his bloodlust that was directed at Yejun. "Don’t threaten my people," he said coldly. "Hwang Yejun, you’re being too soft on Chu Wonhee. She’s an S-Class– she’s not that fragile. Plus, she needs to grow quickly. Once the entire world finds out that she’s an S-Class Guide, then all kinds of people will be after her. We need to raise her as someone who can protect herself."
"Let Wonhee grow at her own pace," Yejun said firmly. "I know that the world is cold and cruel– and that’s exactly why I’m here. I was born a scumbag so Wonhee could stay kind."
"I understand what you’re saying– but you can’t protect her all the time, maknae-ah."
[Why is everyone suddenly calling me ’maknae’ again?]
"And people like us can’t stay kind," Graham added in a serious tone. "We wouldn’t have been the ’Big 4’ that we are today had we stayed the naïve and stupid newbies that we were once."
When the Big 4 was a new thing, the government and other influential figures tried to control them for their own benefits.
They were tricked and betrayed more than twice.
As a result, they had to become a bigger scumbag than all the scumbags that wanted to bring them down.
"I’m glad Wonhee didn’t awaken at the same time we did," Yejun said, smiling a little. "Maybe we were awakened first so that we could make this world a little safer for Wonhee. So she didn’t have to be a bad person like us for the sake of growing."
Graham let out a sigh. "You’re making it sound like the world revolves around Chu Wonhee."
"My world revolves around Wonhee now," Yejun declared nonchalantly. He said it as if he was stating a fact, hence the nonchalant tone. However, he meant every word. "The day Chu Wonhee gets hurt is the day the entire Korea freezes to death– so you all better treat her like she’s the most precious person in the world."
"Crazy bastard," Graham complained. "I want to say you’re being arrogant, but I know you have the ability to do just that."
Graham let out a sigh again while shaking his head. "Our guild has prepared some artifacts to thank Chu Wonhee for Guiding me back to sanity."
"You should also compensate her for scaring her. Do you think an apology is enough?"
"What else do you want me to do?"
"You still have that, right?"
"Have what?" Read full story at Nov3lFɪre.ɴet
Yejun smirked. "The fire-resistant shawl that you got as a reward before."
Graham looked flabbergasted by what he said. "I already gave it to Kisoo, you crazy bastard."
Why would that be a problem?
Yejun turned to Ahn Kisoo. "Do you need the shawl, Ahn Kisoo?"
At that moment, he remembered what Wonhee said to him earlier.
["Yejun-ah, please behave and be polite to the people you’re meeting."]
"Kisoo-ssi," Yejun said, addressing Ahn Kisoo politely. "Can you please give the fire-resistant shawl to Wonhee?"
Seodam clenched his hands tight.
He checked his Status Window again, hoping that the restrictions that came out of nowhere had finally been lifted.
However, his status remained unchanged.
"But why?" Seodam asked the System. "Why did you put restrictions on my skills and possible advancement? I can’t get stuck in A-Class– I need to save more people."
He worked hard to be an A-Class Hunter.
[I even chose my career over Wonhee...]
And, now, he was stuck in A-Class without knowing why he couldn’t advance to the next level.
Unfortunately, the System didn’t give him an answer.
"If you’re going to punish me, at least tell me the reason."
"Are you talking to the System?"
Seodam’s gaze landed on Ruda who had just entered his room.
It was actually Ruda’s bedroom since they had been living together recently.
[I can’t stay at our house since Eomma and Noona are both stressing me out.]
"What’s wrong?" Ruda asked worriedly. "Did something happen to your Status Window?"
"I’ll tell you once I figure it out," Seodam said. "For now, let me handle this on my own. Maybe this is a test from the System that I need to figure out on my own."
"I see," Ruda said, nodding. "If it gets too much, then you can ask for my help."
Seodam paused for a moment, and then he asked. "Ruda, did you say your uncle is a part of the church that worships the System?"
"Do you think your uncle knows things about the System that aren’t known by the common people yet?"
Ruda paused for a moment, and then he tilted his head to one side. "Would you like me to introduce you to my uncle, Seodam-ah?"
"Yes, please," Seodam said, nodding. "But let’s do that after I visited my house– I heard my mother is sick."
