Chapter 87: Chapter 87
"WOW," Wonhee said, still holding the steering wheel tightly even though she was done parking her brother-in-law’s car. "I feel refreshed."
After all, it had been a while since she drove by herself.
[And I overspeed, but the traffic enforcers didn’t stop me– not even once.]
It was clearly because of the ~special~ plate number that the car had.
Wonhee turned to Yejun, fully expecting him to be as ragged as Graham when he arrived at the penthouse after experiencing Yool’s driving skills.
[That’s very similar to mine.]
However, Yejun looked as refreshed as Wonhee was.
"Wonhee-ya, we should totally race as soon as I’m allowed to drive again," Yejun said cheerfully. "I like driving fast cars, too."
Wonhee beamed. "I would have been a race car driver had Oppa and Unnie not stopped me from joining a professional racing team."
"I would have been a race car driver in a normal world, too."
Wonhee could have quit acting when the country stabilized and become a professional race car driver if she wanted to.
But Yejun couldn’t do that as an S-Class Hunter.
"Wonhee-ya, are you sad for me?"
"Of course, I am," Wonhee said while nodding. "You’ve been protecting the country since you were sixteen years old. But I’m also incredibly proud of you, Yejun-ah. You did well."
"Heh. And this is the person who thought she was being "fake" to me just for the sake of her side quest."
"Stop teasing me. And let’s hurry up. My feet are cold."
"Then we should teleport," Yejun said, and then he extended his hand to her. "Then I’ll warm your feet for you."
"Okay," Wonhee said, only realizing what Yejun had said after grabbing his hand. "Wait, what?"
She only heard the X-Class Hunter’s "heh" before they disappeared into thin air.
The next thing Wonhee knew, she was already plopped down on the sofa...
... and Yejun was kneeling on the floor while removing her fluffy slippers.
For some reason, that made her feel embarrassed.
"Yah. What are you doing?"
"I told you, didn’t I?" Yejun said while holding both of her cold feet between his warm hands. Then he looked up at her with a cheeky smile on his face. "I said I’d keep your feet warm."
Wonhee wanted to complain because it was embarrassing, but Yejun’s hands were really keeping her literally cold feet warm.
And it was a nice feeling.
"Your hands are big, Yejun-ah."
"Yeah. You know what else is big, Wonhee-ya?"
"I know," Wonhee said, knitting her eyebrows because she didn’t get what Yejun was trying to say. "I saw your shoe size. And I think you have the same size as Seodam Oppa."
For some reason, Yejun looked offended. "My feet are bigger than the fake carnivore’s since I’m taller than him."
"Feet size and height are not directly correlated, though?"
"My feet are still bigger than your ex’s."
"Why are you getting mad?"
"I’m not," Yejun denied, and then he looked at her feet. "Anyway, your feet are dainty."
He nodded. "They’re small, soft, and smooth."
"I guess my feet look smaller next to your hands. But, actually, my feet size is considered big for a woman," she explained. "I’m taller than an average Korean woman at 173cm, too."
"You just said foot size and height are not directly correlated."
"I’m just saying that my feet aren’t as small as you make them sound. As I said earlier, I’m bigger than an average Korean woman."
Yejun raised his head, but his eyes lingered on Wonhee’s chest area instead of her face. "Yeah, you are."
"Yah," Wonhee complained, embarrassed, while covering her chest with her arms. "Where are you looking at?"
To be fair, she knew that she was well-endowed.
But she would never get used to men ogling her chest area.
Fortunately, Yejun wasn’t looking at her body with lustful eyes.
And she soon realized why he looked indifferent while scanning her body.
"I just eyeballed your size," Yejun said, finally looking at her face again. "I’ll crochet a nice top for you."
Wonhee beamed. "Really? Then I’m gonna look forward to it."
"Are you done flirting?"
Wonhee was shocked when she heard Yool’s voice.
When she turned to her side, she was even more surprised to see her friend sitting on the hanging egg chair while drinking coffee.
And her Civilian friend wasn’t alone.
Ahyeon was also there, standing behind Yool.
Wonhee accidentally kicked Yejun on the chest, causing Yejun to cough as if it got the wind knocked out of him.
[But he’s originally an S-Class Hunter...?]
"Careful, Wonhee-ya," Yejun said when he recovered. "Newly awakened people have amazing raw strength for at least three months."
"I-I’m sorry, Yejun-ah..."
"It’s alright– I won’t die from being kicked by your small and soft foot."
When she saw that she was fine, she apologized again before turning to her friends.
"Y-Yool. Ahyeonnie," Wonhee greeted her friends. "How long have you been there?"
"Since you suddenly appeared out of thin air," Yool said, and then he sipped his coffee. "We wanted to greet you, but you seemed busy."
Ahyeon nodded in agreement. "N-Noona seems to be having fun, too..."
Anyway, that wasn’t the point.
"I didn’t notice you..." Wonhee trailed off, and then she turned to Yejun who, for some reason, was now massaging her feet. "There’s no way you didn’t notice Yool and Ahyeonnie, Yejun-ah. Why didn’t you tell me?" Updates are released by NoveI★Fire.net
"Well, both the baby herbivore and the vertebrate are harmless, so I thought ignoring them was fine."
"Oh? You’re complimenting Yool?"
"That was a compliment?" Yool asked in disbelief. "How?"
"Yejun calls weak Civilians ’invertebrates,’" Wonhee explained while looking at Yool, smiling apologetically at her friend. "But Yejun called you a vertebrate, Yool-ah. That means he acknowledges you as a strong person. It may sound rude, but in Yejun’s book, that’s a compliment."
Yejun nodded firmly. "It takes a lot of guts to call Song Moonho ’ahjussi’ in front of his face. You have a backbone, Gong Yool."
"Uhm, thank you?" Yool said awkwardly, and then he changed the topic as he turned to Wonhee. "Wony-ah, your sister said she’s coming over here. She can’t contact you since you left your phone, so she’s been sending messages to Ahyeonnie."
"Jang Semi-nim said she’ll be here in five minutes," Ahyeon said softly, showing his phone. "Would you like to send your sister a message?"
[I’m supposed to go to Semi Unnie’s house to get some potions from her.]
"It’s alright," Wonhee said, standing up. "Let’s just prepare for my sister’s arrival."
"YES, YOU CAN send this half-hearted report to Kwon Jiwoong," Soobin said after scanning the report that Song Moonho wrote himself. "But you’ll give me the real report later. If you’re too busy, then I’ll just ask Hwang Yejun."
"Why would you ask our maknae when I’m already here?" Song Moonho said, and then he sipped his coffee before he talked again. "I’ll tell you the truth and nothing but the truth. I trust you more than I trust Kwon Jiwoong anyway."
Soobin just scoffed at what Song Moonho said.
[I wonder why he followed me here.]
By "here," he meant the Royal Penthouse Suite in the Sarang-hee Hotel.
The Sarang-hee Hotel was the hotel that Wonhee and Semi’s father built as a commemoration of when Wonhee was born.
[That’s why it’s called ’Sarang-hee.’ It was Hee-ya’s fetus name.]
Anyway, he was using the hotel’s Royal Penthouse Suite as his temporary office since APA’s HQ wasn’t done with its renovation yet.
The penthouse was big enough to have an office in a separate room.
"I don’t have time to talk now," Soobin said, getting up from his seat. "I have a guest waiting for me next door."
"Ah, your brother-in-law?"
"As if I’d let APA’s new dog marry my precious baby sister."
"I don’t think you should be worrying about APA’s new dog– I heard the old one is coming back."
"That’s the Big 4’s problem and not mine."
It was a Hunter who awakened as an A-Class and was later nurtured by APA until he became an S-Class Hunter.
During the old dog’s prime, he was able to put a rein on the Big 4 on his own.
[But the old dog got heavily injured after trying to stop Hwang Yejun’s rampage before Song Moonho stepped in. It has been over a year since he went on a break.]
"Right. I often forget that you’re not a part of the Big 4, Soobin-ah."
"Why are you suddenly talking casually? It’s creepy."
"Well, I’m older than you."
Soobin just shook his head, sighing. "If you have nothing to do, then send the report to Kwon Jiwoong yourself."
Song Moonho just sipped his coffee.
He ignored the old man and went to the room next door.
Lee Seodam immediately stood up and greeted Soobin when he entered the lounge room.
[At least, he has manners.]
"Sit down," Soobin said when he sat on the accent chair. "I’d like to offer you something to drink, but I’m in a hurry. Do you mind if I get straight to the point?"
Lee Seodam shook his head politely. "No, it’s alright, sir. Please go ahead."
"Do you know how Wonhee awakened?"
"I heard Wonhee actually awakened a week before she got arrested because of Miss Choi’s false report. After the result was out, APA immediately let her go and made a public apology to clear her name."
[Well, Lee Seodam entered a dungeon during the investigation, and the truth hasn’t been made public yet because the press conference, which is long overdue, is still delayed.]
"So, you didn’t know that APA mistreated Wonhee during the investigation?"
"Wonhee met Hwang Frost because APA threw Wonhee in the basement where Hwang Frost was locked up."
Lee Seodam’s eyes widened from shock. "Nobody told me about it..."
"I figured that much. You act as if you weren’t sorry towards Wonhee at all. It wasn’t your fault, but you’re still from APA. I thought you should feel guilty about how APA mistreated my baby sister. But the way I see it, you were pretty much nonchalant towards her."
"It’s because I was the one who broke up with Wonhee, sir. I don’t have the right to show my concern towards her after I’ve hurt her," Lee Seodam admitted, a glint of sadness mixed with regret evident in his eyes. "But had I known that Wonhee suffered after I left her in President Kwon’s care..."
"What would you do now that you know?" Soobin asked, raising an eyebrow at Lee Seodam. "Ah, one more thing. Do you even know that the house you’re renting for your family actually belongs to my baby sister?"
