Chapter 88: Chapter 88
"HEE-YA, take all these potions and put them in your Inventory."
Wonhee let out a soft gasp while looking at the three crates that magically appeared on the kitchen island.
Her older sister arrived with three crates of potions.
[Because Semi Unnie is here, I’ll just scold Tannie later.]
Wonhee wasn’t mad at Tannie, but she had to let the administrator know that it wasn’t okay to send her somewhere without her consent unless it was an emergency.
Speaking of emergency...
[Yejun’s eyes are reddish, but he seems calm. I’ll guide him after Unnie leaves.]
"The blue crate has B-Grade potions," Semi said while pointing at the biggest crate, distracting Wonhee from her thoughts. Then she pointed at the medium-sized crate. "The red one has A-Grade potions." Finally, she held the small crate in her hands. "And this golden crate has Special-Grade potions, Hee-ya. Only use these potions for yourself."
"Only for myself?" Wonhee asked curiously. "But why, Unnie?"
"Because these potions are expensive and hard to make."
Wonhee couldn’t promise that she wouldn’t share her potions with whoever needed it, so she just kept her mouth shut.
"It’s hard to make Special-Grade potions these days because the Cracks that I’ve raided lately lack natural resources," Semi explained. "So, please use the Special-Grade potions wisely."
"If your injury isn’t life threatening, then use the A-Grade potions."
"Even though Semi Noona’s potions have the same grade as the other alchemists’ potions, Semi Noona’s potions are still higher in quality," Yejun explained. "Noona could only make high-quality potions, after all. What Noona considers a B-Grade potion is actually already a luxury A-Grade potion to most. So, the A-Grade potions Noona makes are actually premium potions sold in the market. In short, the Special-Grade potions that Noona makes are god-tier. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to make them because the ingredients needed are rare."
"Unnie, you’re really amazing," Wonhee said proudly. "But is it really okay for you to give me this many Special-Grade potions?"
"Of course, Hee-ya," her older sister said. "Living as an Awakened Person, especially an S-Class like you, isn’t easy. You need all the protection that you can get. I gave you potions to heal yourself, but Soobin is in charge of giving you weapons to protect yourself."
"Oppa is going to give me weapons?"
"Yes– weapons that could kill both Awakened People and Civilians."
"Why does Wonhee need weapons when she has a killing machine by her side?" Yejun asked bluntly. "Witch Noona, I can kill Civilians and Awakened People if it means protecting Wonhee."
[That’s not something you should be proud of...]
"I know that, but it’s not like you can stay with our Hee-ya all the time," Semi said, raising an eyebrow at Yejun. "Didn’t you leave our Hee-ya today, huh?"
[Unnie already heard about what happened.]
"It’s because I thought Wonhee was in the ," Yejun said defensively. "And the old man’s offer was tempting."
Wonhee was interested in what Song Moonho offered to Yejun for him to leave her side, but she suddenly remembered the new "weapon" that she realized thanks to Graham. "Unnie, Yejun-ah, Graham attacked me earlier, so I found out–"
However, Yejun and Semi already reacted violently before she could even finish her sentence.
"Hee-ya, Graham did what to you?"
"That flame thrower bastard...!"
YOOL was relaxing on the beautiful terrace of Wonhee’s penthouse.
He was sitting on the soft couch while admiring the pretty plants that Ahyeon was currently watering with an aesthetic watering can.
Yool couldn’t handle the presence of two natural S-Class, so he volunteered to step out.
Ahyeon knew that it wasn’t his place to be involved in Wonhee’s business at the moment, so the young man accompanied him.
"Fuck," Yool cursed under his breath when the ground shook. "Is it an earthquake?"
"I-It’s not, Hyung," Ahyeon said nervously. "Jang Semi-nim and Hwang Frost-nim’s aura is making the entire building shake. It seems like they are pissed."
Fortunately, the "earthquake" quickly stopped.
Even so, it was still a scary experience.
Yool clicked his tongue. "The Big 4, really..."
His phone suddenly rang.
Yool didn’t want to answer it, but he thought it might be important. "Ahjussi."
<"Yool-ssi, I’m afraid I have to cancel our date later.">
It was Song Moonho, and the old man was saying some shitty things.
"It’s not a date, and it doesn’t matter even if you cancel it," Yool said, sighing. "But since I’m already here at Wony’s house, I might as well tell her about our deal. Is it okay if we include Ahyeonnie, too? I don’t want to leave him out, and I’m sure Wony would feel the same."
<"I’m fine with it as long as you two trust that young man.">
<"Aren’t you going to ask why I can’t make it to our date tonight?">
"It’s not a date, and I don’t care about your business as long as it doesn’t affect me negatively."
<"APA summoned me since they’re not satisfied with the report I sent them. I really don’t want to come, but I heard something interesting. It’s a shame that I won’t be able to have dinner with you, but I’ll make it up to you–">
Yool ended the call without as much as a goodbye.
Ahyeon, who saw what Yool did, looked aghast. "H-Hyung, did you just hang up on THE Song Moonho?"
"Yeah, because he was being annoying."
Song Moonho sent several text messages, so Yool turned off his phone.
"By the way, Hyung, I heard what you said earlier. I didn’t want to listen, but I heard my name," Ahyeon said shyly. "May I know what is it about?"
"Of course," Yool said, nodding. "I made a deal with Song Moonho– we need to work with him to catch the villain from the last volume of the novel that I’ve read. Do you remember about the psycho that I mentioned to you and Wony before?"
He shared the important contents of the novel with Ahyeon and Wonhee in the past.
[So that they would remember in case I forgot.]
"Hyung, are you talking about the b-bad Awakened Person who caused Ahn Kisoo-nim and the other high-class Guides to lose their abilities?"
"Bingo– that psycho has appeared earlier in reality than they did in the novel."
Ahyeon fell silent for a moment, then he gasped and dropped the watering can. "W-Wony Noona is a Guide now, so...!"
Yool nodded and finished the sentence for Ahyeon. "Yes, Wony might be the next target since she’s an S-Class Guide."
FORTUNATELY, Wonhee’s building didn’t collapse.
She immediately explained that Graham only attacked her to let her know the danger of letting strangers enter her .
Semi didn’t look satisfied by her explanation, but her older sister had to leave early.
[It seems like a Crack is threatening to burst on their guild’s turf.]
"I should break his other arm..."
Wonhee frowned when she heard what Yejun was muttering to himself.
The X-Class Hunter needed a scolding for his violent thoughts.
[I want to scold Tannie with Yejun, but Tannie isn’t responding to my call.]
"I’m fine, Yejun-ah. Graham-ssi only did that for me."
"This wasn’t the first time Graham put you in danger," Yejun said coldly. "I don’t want him to be comfortable with the idea that he could get away with almost hurting you. He needs to know that, Chu Wonhee."
[He called me by my full name...]
Not gonna lie, Yejun looked intimidating while sitting in his favorite spot– the hanging egg chair– with a serious look on his face.
[But Yejun looks pretty hot when he’s being scary...]
"No," Wonhee whispered to herself, and then she gently patted her cheek. "Wake up, Chu Wonhee."
She snapped out of it when she heard Yejun groan as if he was in pain.
And when she turned to him, she saw him clutching his head while his eyes were shut tight.
"Yejun-ah, is it the Static again?"
"I thought I was already fine, but it’s acting up again," Yejun explained, taking a deep breath. "It seems like I lost more Mana than I thought..."
Wonhee sighed, then she walked towards Yejun and extended her hand to him. "Graham-ssi is still using my bedroom, so let’s just use the other one– oh!"
She was surprised when Yejun suddenly pulled her down.
The next thing Wonhee knew, she was already sitting on Yejun’s lap– his face only a breath away from her.
This may sound cliché, but that intimate position made her heart skip a beat.
[I can’t push him away. He’s being this clingy because he needs my Guiding.]
"Wonhee-ya," Yejun called her name in an almost breathless voice while he wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her secured in his lap. "Can I be greedy? I want to do more than holding hands this time."
Judging by how reddish Yejun’s eyes were at the moment, it seemed like simple physical contact wouldn’t work.
"I’m not ready for Advanced Treatment yet, Yejun-ah."
"I know, and that’s not what I have in mind anyway."
"T-Then what’s on your mind?"
Instead of giving Wonhee a verbal response, Yejun’s heated gaze silently fell on Wonhee’s lips.
[FILTHY RICH people are so disgusting.]
That was Park Ruda’s thoughts while staring at the unique art piece in the art gallery located in the luxurious lobby of the Sarang-hee Hotel.
The art piece in question was a framed baby handprint hanging on the wall.
That was the title of the art piece.
A short message was written below the title: <"Thank you for being born as our daughter, Hee-ya. We love you. From: Eomma and Appa.">
Ruda smirked. "This must be Wonhee’s baby handprint then."
The hotel was founded the year Chu Wonhee was born, and then it was finished on Chu Wonhee’s third birthday.
What an extravagant gift for a toddler.
[Wonhee was really born lucky, huh?]
Just like Ruda, perhaps.
[I thought my ability wouldn’t work on her since she was a newly awakened Guide back then. But it did– it’s not perfect, though. Wonhee seems to remember my scent, but she can’t remember that she saw me in the basement that day.]
Ruda couldn’t wait for Wonhee to remember.
[Hurry up and get stronger, Wonhee-ya.]
"You’re back, Seodam..." Ruda trailed off when he noticed that Lee Seodam looked pissed. "What’s wrong? Did Vice President Yeon scold you?"
After all, Seodam was summoned by Yeon Soobin earlier.
"Why didn’t you tell me, Ruda?"
Seodam’s jaw clenched. "That APA mistreated Wonhee during the investigation. You told me APA released her right away after her result showed that she awakened a week before she got arrested."
Ah, so Yeon Soobin told Seodam the truth.
[I worked hard to distract Seodam so he wouldn’t know the truth. Heck, I even made sure he won’t receive his younger brother’s calls and messages.]
"You told me that Hwang Frost found Wonhee when Hwang Frost escaped from the basement," Seodam said, grabbing Ruda by the shoulders. "But Yeon Soobin-nim said APA threw Wonhee in the basement where Hwang Frost was locked up. Wonhee almost died!"
"But she didn’t, did she?"
"Wonhee survived, and she even awakened as an S-Class Guide. So, now, she has Hwang Frost wrapped around her little finger. All’s well that ends well," Ruda said, smiling. "Why are you so worked up, Seodam?"
"Had I known Wonhee was in that situation–"
"Then you would have gone to her rescue instead of sleeping with me that day?"
Ah, would you look at that?
Seodam, for the first time in a while, wore his heart on his sleeve. Follow current novᴇls on NoveI(F)ire.net
[That’s the face of someone who’s in deep regret.]
"If you were going to feel that way, then you should have taken better care of Wonhee," Ruda said indifferently, removing Seodam’s hands from his shoulders. "And you should have not let your mother and older sister walk all over her– but you didn’t."
Seodam could only let out a frustrated sigh before he avoided Ruda’s gaze.
Ruda patted Seodam’s shoulder before walking past him while making a phone call. "It’s me," he said when he was sure he was out of Seodam’s earshot. "Give me Chu Wonhee’s schedule– I need to "accidentally" meet her as soon as possible."
