Chapter 85: Chapter 85
[Before coming out of the nameless Crack...]
"SHOULD I knock you out?"
"Shut up," Yejun said, glaring at Song Moonho. "I won’t let you do that to me again."
Thanks to Song Moonho’s ridiculous "offer," the Static in his head stopped ringing because he got pissed.
He couldn’t help it since he remembered what happened before.
When he was on a rampage a year ago, it was Song Moonho who apprehended him by knocking him out.
He would never forget that pain (and humiliation) for the rest of his life.
"Oh, you’re still sober," Song Moonho teased him. "I thought I made the wrong decision of bringing you here."
"So, you knew the risk."
"Yes, and I still took it because the alternative wasn’t ideal. I would have gone on a rampage had I gone all out," Song Moonho said, pulling out a small vial from the inner pocket of his suit. "I took a sample of the rain earlier since I suspect that the rain has the properties to trigger Static. I’ll take this to Semi Noona later."
"Ah, I thought you only went here to go sightseeing."
"Don’t be mad that I made you do 90% of the work, maknae-ah. Please understand that I don’t have the luxury to go insane right now."
"But you have your Guide with you."
Song Moonho just smiled that creepy smile of his.
"What?" Yejun knitted his eyebrows. "Are you saying your Guide can’t bury the Static’s noise anymore?"
"For real? I never had a decent Guide because none of my previous Guides had a high matching rate with me. But you have a high matching rate with Meguro Shun."
"Right? I wonder if the souls I devoured in the past had bonded together and cursed me."
"Stop talking about creepy things, old man."
Song Moonho just laughed it off. "I dragged you here because I wanted to show you that we, the Big 4, is being targeted."
Look at the old man getting serious all of a sudden.
"I know you don’t trust me, so I brought you here for you to see it yourself."
And that was a good decision, to be fair.
Yejun fell silent for a moment, and then he sighed. "I can see the picture you’re trying to paint. You’re saying an unknown force has purposely sent Cracks to my territory knowing that I’m the least stable among us because I don’t have an exclusive Guide. And, as that unknown group expected, I snapped and lost my sanity after completely draining my Mana."
"It could have been prevented had you not raided most of the Cracks alone. Why did you even create one of the strongest teams in Korea if you weren’t going to use them in a fight?"
"That’s what you call victim blaming, old man. Don’t gaslight me."
Song Moonho looked surprised, and then he chuckled. "Our maknae has grown up."
"Just in case you haven’t noticed yet, I’m no longer the naïve sixteen-year-old boy that you met nine years ago, old man."
Song Moonho just smiled, and then he finally changed the subject. "I noticed that after your downfall a year ago, the Cracks started to appear more frequently on areas that belong to the Big 4. To be precise, more Cracks have appeared on Graham’s turf. Fortunately, unlike you, Graham relies on his team. And, so, he survived as long as he did. If he snapped before Chu Wonhee awakened, then he would have fallen from grace after you."
"Nah, Graham wouldn’t have fallen from grace like I did because he has Ahn Kisoo."
"Why did you think the System asked Chu Wonhee to guide Graham this time?"
"Did something happen to Ahn Kisoo? I know that he was hurt. But did that affect his abilities as a Guide?"
"It hasn’t been made public yet, but Ahn Kisoo lost his abilities as a Guide."
"Aside from me, only the core members of the Summer Guild, Shin Geon, Yeon Soobin, and Gong Yool know the truth," Song Moonho said. "And now, you."
"How did that happen?"
"Gong Yool and I will explain that later. It’s time for us, the Big 4, and our Guides to have a serious discussion anyway." New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on novel⚑fire.net
Yejun clicked his tongue, annoyed that Song Moonho was taking the lead again.
[He’s the Big 4’s de facto leader for a reason. Before the fall-out, that is.]
"Are you upset because you can’t bring home a dragon for Chu Wonhee?"
Yejun was upset for so many reasons, but he decided to just go with it. "Yeah. How can you make it up to me, huh? I sneaked out because I wanted to cook a rare dish for Wonhee."
"Is Miss Chu allergic to seafood?"
"I don’t think so. I’ve seen her enjoy seafood soft tofu stew. Why?"
"Would you like to bring home a baby Kraken then?"
"You caught a baby Kraken?"
"Was it the dungeon boss?"
"It seemed like the dungeon boss."
"I have a feeling that the last dungeon I raided has already been raided before it appeared on my territory," Song Moonho said, shrugging. "It was as if whoever raided it just made the baby Kraken the new boss after taking the Kraken."
"To make it look like the dungeon hasn’t been compromised yet?"
"Do you think it’s the APA?"
"I’m not sure. APA is the likely suspect since they don’t want to share the government’s power with the Big 4
"Anyway, we should lie low for now and stop picking up a fight with APA."
"Well, as long as they don’t pick up a fight with me first."
"Once we get out of the Crack, just keep quiet, maknae-ah. I’ll do all the talking."
"Nah, don’t worry about that," Yejun said casually. "I asked Soobin Hyung to come and clean after our mess."
Song Moonho burst out laughing. "Right, Yeon Soobin is the Vice President of APA."
[WHAT THE fuck are those kids up to?]
Soobin hurried to the location of the Crack that appeared in Graham’s turf as soon as he received Gong Yool’s call.
It was actually Do Ahyeon’s number, but the one who called was Gong Yool.
["Soobin-ssi, Hwang Frost-ssi left the penthouse to join Song Moonhoo-ssi in raiding a dungeon that was supposed to be under Graham-ssi’s jurisdiction. Hwang Frost-ssi asked me to inform you and tell you to send someone as an additional bodyguard for our Wonhee."]
Even though Soobin wanted to check on Wonhee, he knew that he had to deal with Song Moonho and Hwang Yejun’s illegal activity first.
[Fortunately, Semi Noona said she’s headed to our Hee-ya’s penthouse.]
Moreover, the Summer Guild already sent its elite team to him.
"Kisoo told us that Song Moonho took care of the dungeon because our Guildmaster is unwell," Ahn Kaia, Ahn Kisoo’s older sister and the Vice Guildmaster of the Summer Guild, explained while sitting in the backseat of the car. "But that bastard didn’t go through the necessary procedures before taking over another guild’s dungeon."
"The Special Law also dictates that dungeons that the Four Seasons can’t raid for some reason would automatically fall under APA’s jurisdiction," Geon, who was driving at the moment, said. "The only exception would be when the guild officially handed the dungeon over to another guild. But that didn’t happen."
Ahn Kaia let out a frustrated sigh. "We sent an official letter to the Autumn Guild as soon as I was informed of what happened, but I didn’t receive a response from the Autumn Guild."
"Don’t worry about that," Soobin, who was sitting in the passenger seat, said. "I’ll (ab)use my power as the Vice President of APA to clean up this mess."
[You’ll pay for this later, Song Moonho and Hwang Yejun!]
That was Yejun’s first impression of Lee Seodam– Wonhee’s ex-boyfriend and the guy whose sex life was broadcast live on national TV.
A carnivore, in his book, was a strong Hunter.
[But not as strong as I am.]
However, although Yejun admitted that Lee Seodam was too strong to be just an A-Class Hunter, he could tell that there was something unusual about his strength.
[It’s as if his power doesn’t belong to him.]
Yejun could see Lee Seodam’s Status Window, but he couldn’t read his skills because the words were blurred.
[Like a fake, indeed.]
He could tell one thing for certain, though.
"You’ve grown weaker," Yejun commented while standing in front of Lee Seodam, looking down at the other guy because he was taller. "You’ve gone from a fake carnivore to an herbivore. What a downgrade."
Lee Seodam, who looked offended, knitted his eyebrows. "Hwang Frost-ssi, can you see my Status Window?"
Yejun smirked and was about to say something when, suddenly, a huge shadow cast over him. And when he looked up...
"CHU WONHEE, are you worried about the devil’s spawn?"
Wonhee chuckled at how Tannie addressed Yejun. "If you’re talking about Yejun, then yes, I’m worried," she said. "I’m worried that he might need my Guiding after raiding a dungeon."
"Then should I send you to where he is?"
"I’ll send you to Hwang Yejun!" Tannie said cheerfully. "In three, two, one..."
Wonhee suddenly felt like her seat collapsed, causing her to let out a scream.
But that scream was cut short because someone caught her.
She didn’t know who it was, but she immediately clung to them for dear life.
"Wonhee-ya, did you miss me, too?"
Wonhee raised her head but instead of Yejun, someone else caught her attention. "Seodam Oppa?"
Seodam looked equally surprised to see her there. "Wonhee."
That was when Wonhee realized that they weren’t alone there.
[Tannie, what have you done...?]
